Carbine23
along with countrysides I think we also need to have a suburban-like area with quiet resident towns. (Not like the ones from Alderney in GTA IV)
Snake Without a Tongue
What is MTA ? And if you never played SA then you missed out big time. Multi Theft Auto. It's a multiplayer Mod for SA. I played the hell out of SA, and I was saying that multiplayer with countryside would've kicked ass.
Chase177
I too loved the countryside. I never played MTA SA so I can only imagine how cool multiplayer in the countryside would be. A hell of a lot better than a bunch of kids racing in circles at the airport, I'm sure. What is MTA ? And if you never played SA then you missed out big time. MTA is a multiplayer mod for San Andreas. I've used it for years its a great mod. You can check it out at www.mtasa.com On topic. I hope V has a lot of Country areas in it and some desert aswell. I love the whole look and style of the american suburban, the large wide roads, large and good looking houses and how everything looks clean Would love it if that was added in to. Bertholo
Yes, is one of the principal reason why i loved San Andreas. GTA IV is so sh*tTY with just an urban enviroment What? Is this the new excuse to hate GTA IV? Because it lacked countryside? I guess GTA III and VC sucked as well since there was barely any countryside in those either. "NEW" reason? I've ALWAYS hated GTA IV for this reason!
Miss Darko
^ But I don't blame GTA IV on this one. It has its issues but I don't usually include this one because not every GTA game has, or should be expected to have, a countryside. San Andreas is really the only one so far with a substantial natural environment, so it's the exception rather than the rule. I think it adds a lot to a game but I don't think we should expect every GTA game to just include more and more cities and countryside, because then R* could just back themselves into a corner technologically. We shouldn't hate every new installment that isn't like San Andreas.

Fantastichumore
Hell yea I want a BIG Countryside and two cities as well, but one needs to be a little smaller like "SanDiego" or idk. As someone of you said that the map needs contrast from the city! this is totally true I mean it's not New York, Its LA and this city need to have the great california feeling
mulder84
Coming from a country with no countrysides, yeah it's important. Especially big, rolling plains with farmhouses and such. Not to mention the farm animals and wildlife. Don't you get it? GTA is all about FREEDOM! How much can you dick around with big honking buildings blocking your way? Gran Feft Orto
The countryside was the best thing about San Andreas - I spent a lot of time there as it was much more fun than the cities (which were not as interesting as Liberty and Vice imo). RDR highlighted how sorely it was missed in IV. Can't wait to see how detailed it is in V - I just hope the landscape is as varied as San Andreas. Jimbatron
One of the big reaons for wide open spaces for me is you need it to actually use planes (aircraft faster than helicopters) properly otherwise you'll run out of map in 30 seconds. blowtorchrepair
"nothing to do" in the country side? I guess I don't expect "things to do" as much as I expect a diverse and immersive map full of surprises which includes a country side, but it should be loaded with surprises like caves, tunnels, secret cartel grow fields, falling rocks, and wilderness with a lot of trails that won't get old and become memorized very quickly. I hope we'll have horses and then some deadly life forms like poisonous snakes and the mountain lion from RDR. R* does't have to go nuts like a Cabela's Trophy hunter game, but empty forests/countrysides will be tantamount to the empty L.C. we've all experienced, so I hope there's some wild life out there. GlamFM
Sanchez in the Woods/ Desert and the very small towns were my favorit part of San Andreas. Can´t wait for the countryside.
Beez
Yes, I will really enjoy the countryside. Three things back this up (for me). 1. I liked exploring the country in San Andreas. 2. The large amount of time I spent hooning around in the few open/natural areas of GTA IV in bikes & 4x4s. 3. Ever time I play RDR I wish I could tear through that landscape on a dirt bike or a dune buggy.
el_roy1985
I think it will be great. In SA it really gave me a sense of the cities being seperate from each other. As in I planned my trips and when I would go visit other cities I would also try to make plans along my travels to get a few side missions taken care of as well. ChillyPhilly
Rockstar would never make countryside without some form of purpose; each road will have a destination of some kind. San Andreas was in certain parts the opposite of this.

I kept hoping that R* would release a final "time travel" DLC for RDR that would come with most of the weapons from IV along with the sanchez, the old chevy 4x4 truck, patriot, maverick, and some ATVs, so that we could really enjoy that map esp i multiplayer.. packardcaribien
Oh btw I prefered the whole countryside of RDR then the whole city of IV. But by just mixing them two together you got a GOAT in your hands. Don't you mean a GOTY? -- Anyway, city only maps are usually boring, especially when they lack variety. GTA IV's LC was one of those maps. Sometimes cities have enough variety to stay interesting, like Vice City or Empire Bay (Mafia II). But the countryside, replete with suburbs, forests, farms and small towns AS WELL as a city is definitely the best. RDR got it near perfect, but a few more towns and a larger Blackwater (as in a legit city instead of a medium sized town) wouldn't have hurt. Vega LVI
Though the countryside, and even desert, may not thrill you when you read their names or hear or think about them, but for me, I love every aspect of a more rural theme. If I had a some sort of Jeep-type (or Land Rover) outdoorsy vehicle, I'd go exploring the ins and outs of the countryside and desert. I'd love stumbling upon thatched shacks right by a river and looking inside them or even a cave or cavern, in addition to discovering all sorts of Easter eggs that'll be included in the game. So yes, I would really enjoy a countryside and a desert, in addition to a city (of course!).

DonkeyEatingCheese
I loved the countryside in SA and I am sure I will be spending most of my time there. It would be awesome in multiplayer.
