un94
Hey guys. I know. "Southern California", "Los Santos and surrounding countryside", "it's not SA2" ... We don't know whether SF and LV are in V or not. Maybe a new city will be included, maybe it is "just" Los Santos. What I want to discuss about: SA had all these three cities. And I personally think that Rockstar should release a new game in which the whole state is included in future. SF and LV belong to San Andreas and I personally do not want a separate game for each city. I think, when it is not happening in V, there HAS to be a future game where SF + LV + LS are in one game in "a few years or so". There should be a game in which this whole state appears again, maybe with even more cities. Thats my opinion. But when should this happen when not in V? They are re-modelling Los Angeles from the ground up, it will be way more realistic and completely different than the old Los Santos from SA. Perhaps this is the last time we play GTA in LS? Because it would be stale to return to that city again in a future GTA, just because LS is very realistic in V and there's not much to change anymore and we won't need a new game with Los Santos? So there wouldn't be a chance that SF+LV+LS re-unite again. My english is not that good, I'm from germany. Hope you know what I try to say. I think there should be a GTA game where this state returns with all cities. With new graphics, new layouts,.... A change like GTA III to GTA IV. And I think V would be the best chance to do that. I hope that all three cities are in GTA V. Edited October 7, 2012 by un94

JeteaFive
"Our most ambitious game ever created" Juste one city. Looks weird, they hide us something, something really big, maybe San Fierro and Las Venturas, or a new city i don't know. In the immatriculation of cars we see "San Andreas" IN los santos instead of Los Santos.

Andreas
I don't think that we'll see San Fierro and/or Las Venturas but if there are more major cities then I think that San Diego and Tijuana are possible. But on the other site I don't have anything against San Fierro and Las Venturas. I just think it won't happen. By the way ich denke, dass dein Englisch nicht allzu schlecht ist. LotusRIP
Very good point. DLC cities maybe? If it doesn't all fit on the original game. I'd be happy to visit the airport and sit through a loading screen so I can access San Fierro + surrounding countryside, or Las Venturas + surrounding countryside.... PS. new cities, since when has R* ever done that? thinking san diego may be worse than believing in October 2012.
un94
Hehe, dankeschön. Bin nur schon länger aus der Schule raus und Arbeiten, da gehen ein paar Vokabeln verloren. Well, what I tried to say: WHEN will the whole state appear in a game again? I think GTA V would be the best opportunity. They are completely re-designing the Los Santos area. If they would release a new game in LS... well I think it would be quite stale. They would add SF and LV to the map of V and change Los Santos a bit, my opinion. In their statement they said "southern california". Yes, LS is in southern california. But that does not exclude that northern california/parts of northen california are also in V. When you hear "San Andreas" and "Los Santos" you automatically think of LV and SF, too. And Rockstar knows that. Perhaps there won't be a GTA in LA/SA the near future/next console generation and I personally don't want SF or LV in a sepparate game. If they'd add San Diego and Tijuana in V and release a Game with LS + SF + LV + SD + Tijuna.. that would be epic, yeah. But I don't see that happen. Columbo
As long as the countryside is VAST, I don't really care if "all" we get is Los Santos. I'm gonna spend most of my time in the countryside anyway. That's what made San Andreas my favourite GTA; the freedom of the large wilderness. Oh, and a friendly reminder; the mods don't take kindly to non-english posts. Edited October 7, 2012 by Columbo

Sure there will be smaller towns scattered around but don't expect the whole state of San Andreas.

Magic_Al
A 're-imagined Southern California' could include LV since R*'s California includes Las Vegas. 'Southern San Andreas' includes LV. They said "re-imagined Southern California" and not "re-imagined San Andreas" deliberately so you would not think that. And Las Venturas is in the northeast part of the fictional state of San Andreas in GTA SA.
un94
Yeah you guys are right. They told us it is set in LS and Southern California. BUT: Like I said, I think the state should return in a GTA Game. And V would be the best time. Another GTA with LS would probably be stale, so perhaps this is the last time we see Los Santos in a GTA for a very long time. For a new GTA in LS they would have to recreate Los Santos and countryside AGAIN. Now or never. That is my opinion.

Choco Taco
Yeah you guys are right. They told us it is set in LS and Southern California. They didn't use the word "set" in the Southern California quote. They used "focuses". Grand Theft Auto V focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present day Southern California. The focus of something is the center of interest or activity. Maybe that means the game concentrates on making money while having other activities. It could also mean that Southern California is the center of operations while still taking place in other locations outside of Southern California. Don't forget the "re-imagined" part. They could have said life-like or realistic, but for some reason they didn't. A re-imagined Southern California can include SF and LV. A life-like or realistic one can't. Also, they could've said "a re-imagined California including San Fierro and Las Venturas", but for some reason they didn't. A re-imagined Southern California has no reason to include SF or LV. Rockstar takes pride in each game being fresh. On the other hand, it obviously takes so much effort to make one city in HD, that the only way to ever do a another story that spans multiple cities like GTA SA would be to graft previous games' maps into new games. Maybe the only way to "reunite" San Andreas is to do GTA V Los Santos, GTA VI San Fierro, GTA VII Las Venturas, and then in that game or the next game combine all those maps and call it a commemorative combo or something. It's just too much stuff to build at once. RDR is actually this generation's GTA SA in having a sprawling, multi-region world and a sense of journeying away from home. The frontier setting makes it practical to build such a world in HD, because instead of dense, sprawling cities there are smaller settlements. GarrowsKai
I think it'll be just LS and I want it to be just that, with a couple of large-ish towns and villages etc. Admit it, the cities in SA felt watered down. They all had the 'main' parts of the city they were based on, LS had the ghettos and beaches, SF had the hills and hippies, LV had the casinos, but after that there was nothing. This is because it takes a lot to create three individual cities in one game and disc space/processing power is an issue, I'd prefer to have one city that was full of life and variety. Obviously the new gen of consoles had better capacity but this also means greater draw distances so the map will HAVE to be bigger than SA if three cities are to be included, taking up a large amount of space and power before you even get to the cities. Then the cities themselves will have to be bigger than in SA to not disappoint after we have experienced the size and diversity of IVs LC. So overall, just having one city the size of IVs LC then with countryside and towns will result in a much better game than three weaker, smaller cities. Why would locations be different? They obviously don't want us to know much about GTA V at this point. A re-imagined Southern California has no reason to include SF or LV. Including SF and LV still fits the definition of re-imagined.
