Guest
If it has MCLA's car customization, then yes, it will be the greatest game ever.

kesta195
So far we have a debut trailer, a handful of screenshots & a few brief statements about GTA V. I want to know am I getting overly excited for this game, or does it have the potential to be just as good as I'm imagining? It could be because i'm a huge fan of GTA. I've owned every single game between III and IV. I'll be buying V on midnight like all the rest of you... But from the little bit that we know, the potential right now for V to be the greatest videogame in history (thus far) is within reach no? Im a huge GTA fan but I'm not buying it at midnight. Some of us have jobs... Guess what I'm doing? Pre-ordering from GAME and getting it a day early as I always do.

The Gardener
Im my opinion Red Redemption and Skyrim are the two greatest games of all time. And I think GTA 5 will improve over RDR and be more fun than skyrim. RDR and Skyrim are both "western sandbox games". Since GTA is based in modern day, we'll get more fun features such as planes, heavy explosives, guns and cars and etc.... Basically if GTA 5 has as much to do as San Andreas, and maybe a little but more, but with the graphics of RDR, it will be the greatest game of all time. Uncharted 2. He's real fond of Skyrim as well. Both great games, to be fair.

It's like comparing Messi and Ronaldo, it's all preference. It's like GTA is Messi, stats show he's better but you can only really judge them on what you see and prefer. AuSsIeThUnDeR36
Does Grand Theft Auto V have the potential to be the greatest game of all time? When we take a look back at GTA SA it was an outstanding game, ahead of it's time really when you think that it came out nearly 8 years ago and you can still walk into your local games store and buy a brand new Ps2 disc of it even today. This goes to show it still remains to be a very much loved edition in the Grand Theft Auto series. It had everything - gangs, cool weapons, the Rhino, Hydra, jetpack, Area 69, desert, gambling and not just one city, we had 3 cities and 3 airfields, encompassing a massive distance of a 'compressed' US western coast (LA, San Fran and Las Vegas with Oregon desert all jammed together) For it's time the game was unbelievable. Move forward 4 years to Grand Theft Auto IV. Rockstar Games utilise RAGE for the graphics and EUPHORIA for ped movement and falling physics. It was a new technology for R* and they did an ok job with it. We had a big map with IV but still it didn't have that 'spaciousness' that San Andreas had. IV was also a dark storyline and the missions were not as fun as San Andreas, such as stealing a jet pack or setting up a heist on a mafia run casino. The storyline was not as long as San Andreas either. Now we look toward V. We are heading back to the area of San Andreas, Los Santos. The nostalgic feelings are in your hearts and minds. All eyes are focused on it. When someone even mentions GTA V you get a flutter in your stomach. Rockstar Games have come off RDR which was a hit, LA Noire and have had four years since IV to mess around with RAGE to fully understand it's capabilities. Technicolour has recently been announced as helping with GTA V so there seems to be all studios on hand helping with V. Sam Houser said 'It's a very big map' so one can only assume it's bigger than San Andreas or RDR. I say Rockstar Games know that SA was the most popular of their series and want V to have all the fun missions, epic storyline and awesome vehicles to accompany it. So in conclusion, for V to become the greatest game of all time, it will have to surpass San Andreas in terms of map size, mission style and storyline, then give the game a couple of years to mature and grow on people before people start saying it's the best. I believe a game has to have that sense of nostalgia for it to be a 'best game of all time'
J32T3R
Erhmm, greatest R* game, but surely not the greatest game of all time.
RandomNoun
The game is limited by its own concept. If Rockstar dropped the mechanics of GTA and did something completely fresh, then there's a chance. But in the meantime, a new GTA will only ever be an upgrade, when you come to think of it--more of the same, but better (hopefully).

Magic_Al
Since GTA IV came out there's been a sense that GTA SA is the greatest sandbox game but GTA IV had to be more focused because it was impossible to do something as broad as GTA SA with the detail and depth of GTA IV. Ever since, the imaginary greatest game ever is a combination of GTA SA, GTA IV, and RDR. Can it all be in one game? Probably not, but GTA V may be as close as it can get. Until the next one. ThisIsHorosho
...i don't think so, not for me i fear...i will most likely like playing it, but i doubt it will bore me to death later than i got bored of playing San Andreas or Saints Row 2 (yes is said SR2 and screw you all nahsayers...)... Agree with this Al. Rockstar appear to be returning certain aspects of III era (ok SA) that were missed in IV. Combining these with the physics and graphics of IV will provide for a fantastic game at the least.
