Deffpony
After making this thread I found that another thread about this already exists. http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=494034 If the mods would like to merge the topics or even lock this one thats fine. My apologies. So alot of people are fairly upset with the way GTA V looks in comparisn to IV. And out of context this is understandable. If you compare V to games like BF2 and Uncharted its hard to say V is the most beautiful game you have ever seen. But if you compare V to IV and even more so to all the previous GTA's you will see how far the graphics have come since GTA III. First Ill post a couple of videos. Here is a video going through the entire history of GTA. Its a fun watch and really helps put V in perspective. Here iare two seperate videos comparing the V trailer to remakes of the V trailer within IV. Now lets look at some screens. We will start off with trees GTA III GTA VC GTA SA GTA IV GTA V Edited October 6, 2012 by deffpony
Deffpony
PART 2 Ok now lets look at the peds and character models. GTA III GTA VC GTA SA GTA IV GTA V Ok now lets look at vehicles GTA III GTA VC GTA SA GTA IV (I realize this isnt the cheetah) GTA V So in conclusion I think that V is a huge leap over time in terms of graphics. The trees are the best we have ever seen, the character models are much more lifelike including muscle tone and facial dexterity, and the vehicles seem more polished. Thoughts? Dragonjack
Lot's of effort on putting this "interesting" stuff man and great work as well. I think GTAV is going to be far more fantastic actually.
TonyResta
Nice post. Can't believe how GTA III looks, you'd think it would be unplayable with those graphics but it works!
Irrational
I'd like to see a "GTA V Trailer remake in GTA 1" video. Maybe I could do it.
Patrizio
Good topic this Deff - I don't know what people are complaining about. Though I will say, I think its only fair to either compare: - In game shots to in game shots or - Official screens to official screens Mixing them isn't really a fair test... Yea I agree but it was tougher than I expected to get contextual screens for each game. I didnt want to put TOO much work into this thread cause lord knows only about 10 people will view it. I suggest you guys check out the link to the original thread at the top of the OP. That use did a great job.

isselman2000
GTA games always look best in motion. The GTA III stills look crap, but boy oh boy - when you start flying down those streets you get a thrill unlike any other.

Looking at them may be meh but riding them is a rush
wadiya1
For me personally, graphics are of less importance than the map, story, humour, soundtrack, etc. that are always so good in GTA games. That's probably why I enjoyed San Andreas... Graphics weren't the best for its time, but as far as being an enjoyable, funny and thrilling game with a huge map and lots to do and explore, I think it was unmatched by any other. I will agree with you partly. I think the most important aspec of graphics is the atmosphere they can create. SA and VC graphics were meh but they atmosphere was awesome

JaggySnake
Great topic. I think the graphics that V has are great! It's not like they are next gen quality but they are definitely improved over IV which is just what San Andreas did over III/VC. It was cool to look back at the older games and see how much the series has changed. Brought back a lot of memories and actually has got me hyped up for V again. I can't wait to see more of this game!! It's gonna be amazing.
