Patrizio
The Los Santos Storm Drain based on the Los Angeles River, featured and named so previous in GTA San Andreas. It is AFAIK (anyone Angelenos please correct me) a network of drainage that bisects much of Los Angeles. For those unaware it looks like this: And navigates through much of central LA: And has featured in such famous films as Grease: and Terminator 2: Judgement Day: Which of course was previously parodied in the mission "Just Business" from GTA San Andreas: For me, in San Andreas this network of drains, tunnels and ramps added much exploration and replayability, in addition to providing much scope for missions. After the acute detail Rockstar has went for in GTA IV and RDR, I cannot wait to see Rockstar's take on the Los Angeles River in GTA V, Particularly as there are plans a foot to develop into toward looking like this: Thoughts? Exxon
Never actually thought about it, but I often raced there in GTA IV:SA. I too can't wait to cross around there
Patrizio
I loved it in SA and felt Rockstar could have really used it for more. It HAS to be in GTA V and really adds scope for exploration, races, police chases, and stunting.

Snake Without a Tongue
I loved it in SA and felt Rockstar could have really used it for more. Same here. I was bummed that there was only one railshooting mission. Police chases were fun down there.

HoboDealer
I think it's safe to say it will be in the game. The scene in the trailer with the black audi looking car, has a bridge which is based off of one of the storm drain bridges
KingBen
Races in multiplayer will be sick in those storm drains!

Do you have a link to this storm drain bridge? Its almost guarenteed to be in - but its still nice to see it in game! @deffpony - cheers man! Patrizio
Wait, They call that thing a river? They do but its really a drainage system (I believe). It cuts right through LA and is a really prominent feature. Most crucially it really adds to the scope and scale of a GTA game imo.
CodeFail
I agree, it would be cool for races.
KingBen
If GTA V has that little stream of water running through the middle like in this picture who will be the first to try and jetski down it?

Good point that Ben - Rockstar could introduces a form of triathalon race - running, biking, and then jetski-ing?

But I definately remember it cropping up in that 'Mapping Los Santos' thread a while back! It's probably very similar to this:
Deffpony
Im really hoping that rockstar not only adds alot of detail to these environments but also makes them important and relevant. In my racing thread I talk about how racing might be implemented and I think it would be awesome if the classic muscle car crew met up in the storm drain areas

Either way - it definitley adds much scope for races, it really does.
DeafMetal
Personally, I'm looking forward to the highways connecting Los Santos to the countryside. I loved riding driving through them on a chopper with the classic rock station on.
saintsrow
The LA River is in HD in MCLA and LA Noire: so it seems very likely to be included in GTAV.
Greeno
If GTA V has that little stream of water running through the middle like in this picture who will be the first to try and jetski down it? That would be epic, imagine a mission where there are like 2 cars each side of you whilst you are in a jet ski shooting at them.

So not so far-fetched, perhaps?
I Shot The Sheriff
Indeed it's a must have, a "sure have" (if that makes any sense) since it was in Los Santos in San Andreas which was much smaller than LS will be this time. I can imagine spectacular missions there, and of course random mayhem with LSPD involved. I can also remember, on a movie, a space shuttle landing in it, I just can't figure out in which movie it was!
DarrinPA
I just hope that during heavy rains this drainage system will actuall fill up and do it's job. R* needs more variety in their maps.

I should have guessed that the environmentalists that rule California had an expensive spending spree like that on the table. Forgive me if this sounds off topic, but I hope they plant some Washingtonia Robusta or Sabal palm trees so that can be replicated in the game. What good is a Grand Theft Auto game set in a Mediterranean climate without some palm trees?
