Gtaghost22
Just something that the entire GTAF community should know well maybe most of them. What should we know exactly? That Skyrim is better than GTA? LOL. I'm sorry but i can't take anyone that says this seriously, i'm not saying this because i'm a GTA fan , but because Skyrim isn't even the best Rpg this gen, so how exactly could you compare it to the best open-world franchise? Fireman
There's one good comment in that entire article: Reasons why GTA is better than Skyrim:1. Cars – There’s no cars in Skyrim, so it takes really long to walk anywhere! 2. Guns – In Skyrim, you can only use bows and arrows! Omg, so boring. 3. Speed chases – Skyrim doesn’t have any cars, but there’s also no exciting chases on for instance horses through populated streets. Seriously though, this is the worst ‘article’ I’ve read in a while. Comparing an RPG to a Open World action game, wut? You're all idiots for comparing.

matajuegos
I see a lot of fanboys here... Skyrim and GTA are not even in the same category, is like comparing apples to oranges, both are good in their own ways, no one is better than the other one, stop being childish people! Mister Pink
Lord, when will you people stop trying to categorize subjective opinions such as taste in video games... It's plain stupid. Sure, Skyrim has a gigantic world compared to Liberty City and there are hundreds of missions more than there are in IV, but Skyrim is about being a dragon hunter in an ancient fantasy world and IV is about being a hired gun in the underworld of modern New York. With a completely different context, there's no way of accurately comparing these two games. I disagree, my Connection homie. If you are in to both settings, then the setting, is merely cosmetic. Then, you can break it down to gameplay and thus compare both. I haven't read the article yet. I wont say one game is better than the other. I'm a GTA fanboy but Skyrim did open my eyes. It's very immersive and after playing Skyrim, I wish GTA had some elements more like it. How? I don't know... They're both open-world video games. Thats how they're being compared. Both completely different but nonetheless, comparable. Both games send you on missions to gain benefits for A. You, the player and B. The person who pays you to do a mission/quest. There are side missions. You kill people. Setting is different, them is different. It's kind of like saying you can't compare RDR to GTA. It's set in a different era, you ride on horseback etc etc. Edited October 10, 2012 by ThePinkFloydSound RUBBΣR░J♢HNNY (スオッ)
John The Grudge
With Skyrim, I found that once I had the best armor the game became boring. The problem is that there's no real story. There's lots to do and many neat things to see but personally without a good story to give me a sense of purpose and of place and time, it just isn't compelling. So I think GTA is better. The Scottish Guy
Skyrim is by far the most repetitive and boring game I've EVER played. Come on man, did you play GTA IV? 'Drive here, shoot this, car chase, shoot some more etc.' Did you play IVs dlc? The missions in The Ballad of Gay Tony were far from repetitive, and quite possibly the most fun I've had in a video game period. As for Skyrim, I've never played any of The Elder Scrolls games, as the magical fantasy genre isn't really my thing, but I intend to purchase it in the coming weeks to give it a try. Fireman
Should try a good fantasy RPG before you start with TES, atleast you have something to compare it to then. Get Baldur's Gate II from GOG, a lot cheaper as well.

It's set in a different era, you ride on horseback etc etc. I see your point and agree with you, mostly. What you're right about and what I failed to see earlier is that these two games can be compared as mission-based sandboxes, but I'd still like to say that I find it extremely challenging to compare a fantasy game to a game such as GTA that is (obviously) fictional, yet based on reality. The context and much of the gameplay is so different and unrelated to the other that in those aspects, the games cannot be compared. But yeah, you're absolutely correct when you say that they can be compared as two sandboxes. I believe that whereas Skyrim offers a huge amount of missions and quest lines compared to IV, most of IV's missions have more diversity than Skyrim's. Apart from the main quest, each one of Skyrim's quest lines include two or three missions that are extraordinary and make you say "whoa!" as the rest of them often follow the same routine and distract the player from said realization by focusing their attention to new characters, unique weaponry et cetera, not to mention the miscellaneous missions which basically only repeat theirselves over and over. However, Skyrim dominates in the amount of missions (IV having 92 main missions and about 140 alltogether and Skyrim having 244 missions alltogether (according to Wikipedia and gtawiki)), so it's really up to personal preference and whether you seek for quality or quantity. Mister Pink
Cheat, I see your points and I agree. They're completely different on some levels but almost very similar in other fashions. I'm glad I got in to Skyrim. GTA is what really got me in to gaming. It was the first world I really got immersed in. RUBBΣR░J♢HNNY (スオッ)
