Royal55
It might sound ridiculous, but what do they have to lose? Perhaps someone at Rockstar is buying into this doomsday theory and they're waiting for it to pass, and as soon as it passes, marketing starts. I hope you understand what I'm getting at here. Think about it though. I also think Epsilonism plays a huge role in the storyline, they're probably some cooky cult that believes in the whole end of days thing, and perhaps Rockstar has something up their sleeves with them. I know, it sounds crazy and it could go even deeper than that or maybe I'm missing something. If you'd like to elaborate and share your thoughts, I'd love to know. Deffpony
I dont think so, but honestly I wouldnt be surprised. It just feels that if rockstar knew they were going to wait until after december 2012 to market the game they wouldnt have released the trailer so early. It feels more like they hit a developmental road block.
Lynx2069
I've always felt that the 1st trailer was just a way to show investors that a new GTA was in the pipeline, and a way to let us fans know that we would see another GTA this console generation. I don't think they intended to ever release V until Q1 2013 but didn't want to wait until say, Oct 2012 to reveal its production. It was also 10 years after GTAIII. I feel as if the end of days prophecy plays a role, as does Kifflom, perhaps something to do with celebs giving money to the church of Kifflom, to attain the proper level within the church of Kifflom allowing ascension through to the afterlife yet oops, what do you know it didnt happen and certain influential celebs are out of money, and need assistance with certain business transactions from a certain friend or acquaintance with a checkered past. And matter of fact his answer is pretty spot on When exactly did they say this? I remember it from their Q&A We just have not been in a position to show more of the game than the trailer and will not be for a while yet I don't think it's about feeling, they just aren't done with the game yet. HOAXi
In US, maybe, but not in Europe. It might be the most hyped up doomsday prediction of all time but still, it's probably less than 0,001% of the world population who are slightly concerned about it, and even just a fraction of that again who are among the youtube generation worry warts. Sneakerhead.
That actually isn't so entirely crazy. Wait: It is. We are not in an episode of doomsday preppers. /threat How is that a threat lol?
AtomicPunk
The only ones pushing that the end is coming are the Hollywood/news media types. Nowhere NOWHERE in Mayan text does it say the world is ending at the end of that calender. Maybe the guy just ran outta rock?? lol It will be just like the Y2K idiocy. If a comet is heading for us and going to take us out, it would be spotted by astronomers, NOT some ancient civilisation. The only thing R* would do, IMO, is pardoy all of the dommsday nuts running around in Los Santos. They will take it no further than that. The only thing that will happen the day after the doomsday date is a lot of people will have hangovers and the world will continue on. Well, until the parasites start a nuclear war, that is. When you see Iran get attacked, that's when the whole world better start to worry.

TheD94
We don't know when the end of the world and GTAV release(/next info) gonna be... so it's gonna be a tight duel. We don't know.

Jewstinian
That's ridiculous. Why would R* wait until after December to start marketing GTA V? What do Maya have to do with GTA V? I think the Maya predicted the day of GTA V Marketing!
fitbikesbmx
I thought they might play with that idea a little, but not in the way you describe. I thought maybe R* would announce a release date for something like 12/12/12 or whatever. I don't see that happening anymore since we are only 2 months away. Maybe set the release date to 12/23/12 or something like that, "Right before the apocalypse".
saintsrow
...and so it will be written, in the year 2525, 512 years of Dark Ages after the fall of civilization: "One billion incensed, disappointed GTAV fans who didn't get any game info, flooded the First Internet with so much hate, so much vitrol, so much volume of pure invective, that all the servers on the planet Earth were crashed into a global gridlock of echoing forum and Rockstar Games comment traffic. "No one could have predicted the effects of so many independent sources of angst, creating so many messages, quotes, replies and memes per microsecond on the network, that undiscovered flaws in server packet handling would lock up and fry the entire First Internet. "The effect was due to the classic butterfly wings beating in a chaotic environment. Rockstar's extended marketing silence combined with the timeline distribution of mental breaking points of more than one billion tortured fans, spawned an unprecedented, massive, synchronized wave of furious message posting and reposting that brought down the First Internet, and along with it, every human technological system conencted to it. "Global cannibalism and the manually-controlled lanching of all of Earth's nuclear missiles (which were isolated from the main grid), were only the beginning of the collapse. Things went downhill from there. "Nostradamus predicted this collapse, but it was only comprehensible in retrospect, after the damage was done. Thus, the End of the World did indeed occur at the predicted point in time." Thanks to Rockstar Marketing.

TOMAHAWKS
I came to this conclusion about a week ago. At first I thoguht GTA V would be released on the speculated "doomsday" but then I realized that, since 2013 is more likely by the second, they're probably waiing until it passes...
