Fixing the airport

If they wanted to include the realism/terrorist angle via a wanted level, what would make the airport even more interactive would be to have the player earn a 4* wanted level for running past security if there was an interior...

Thoughts? Could be controversial mind.

they should put an option to Turn Off the weapons on Jets/helicopters so little annoying 12 year olds can't rape me up the arse (ass if your american) with a buzzard... they put options to Turn off friendly fire, Police and auto aim on IV multiplayer so they should be able to do it to vehicle weapons on V multiplayer

More airport vehicles that are drive-able ATC just like radio stations in vehicles smarter AI when i am approaching the runway and there is a plane behind me the plane should go around. Emergency landings when the plane lands airport emergency crew should come and help to spray water on the engines of the plane.

The airport was indeed pathetic. It almost seemed like an afterthought that R* added to the game right before release. There were a lot of glitchy areas, the planes were just plane sad [get it wink.gif], etc...

i would be willing to bet the airport in IV was designed mainly for multiplayer. monocle.gif

"Rockstar's latest installment of GTA takes video game terrorism to a whole new level, having the player hijack a commercial plane in midflight, obviously a homage to 9/11."

It would be awesome!

Fixed. Maybe there will be a mission similar to the one in SA, only you have to hit the WTC upon reaching Liberty City. Maybe V will have both LS and LC wow.gif

3rd protagonist confirmed to be a storyless Terrorist

I'm probably not alone in saying that the airport in IV kinda sucked. But given the fact that there were no planes in IV it's forgivable.

However, if you have ever played the multiplayer you know that most matches tend to gravitate toward the airport. This usually results in one guy in a chopper spanking the rest of the players either after they spawn, flee, or attempt to get a chopper themselves.

I'm hoping that V will not only have a more dynamic and lively airport but also a means of making the multiplayer more interesting.

What do you guys think about this? Any ideas

I don't even think its forgivable for the lack of planes. Vice City didn't really have planes (barring the Skimmer) and III only had the DoDo.

Not allowing the player to enter one of the biggest areas of the map without accruing a 4* wanted level was/is ridiculous. Really don't hope they do this again, or the airport is just wasted, inaccessible space.

As many have and have not said, a good detailed airport IMO should include:

- Decent size terminals and runways.

- Vast interiors with people going around in a rush with baggage.

- Shuttle buses and taxis that come and pick people up.

- Real drive-able planes parked, departing or arriving.

- Good plane engine sounds, like the rumble you feel when they accelerate.

- Different airline companies.

They will probably take inspiration from LA's real airports so i don't know how they are but just some ideas.

True!

To be honest, I´ll be a little bit pissed if the airport won´t have all the features you´ve mentioned.

Just imagine how cool it would be, if you could see actual departing and arriving planes cruising over Los Santos.

The map wouldn´t feel as isolated as in IV, were the planes simply fly circles around Liberty City.

They should have helipads with copters both on opposite ends of the airport.

I loved GTAIV overall, but the airport was a HUGE dissappointment. No interior was a colossal WTF? It was the most lifeless airport you could imagine, and the fact that it was based in a huge metropolis was worse. I could understand a lifeless airstrip in the middle of nowhere, but this was supposed to be the equivalent of JFK airport.

The only time you saw activity was when you stepped past the gates, at which point you were suddenly swarmed with federal agents gunning for you at a 5 or 6 star level. You couldn't even freeroam around the runway because you wouldn't last a minute without being riddled by bullets. Where were all the passengers? Where were the baggage handlers? There are 3 things that stand out in being very dissappointing for me with GTAIV.

1- Lifeless Airport with nothing special to distinguish it as a place to explore. No interior.

2- No major malls. WTF? Any map worth it's salt MUST have a mall. Vice city's map was small, but the mall was exciting, and quite impressive for it's time. There's no reason it shouldn't have been in GTAIV.

3- An amusement park that was as dead as the airport. This is the only thing that dissappointed me even MORE than the awful airport.

Overall, GTAIV had MUCH more that was great, than bad, and the subway system was well done. Although i hated the train interior which was completely "cutscene". You couldn't walk around, or interact with passengers.

73duster, well said.

Although off topic, an interactive mall HAS to return - I couldn't believe there wasn't one in IV. Was there one in San Andreas?

Yes I do believe they should add terminals, yknow, so people can run away from the fighter jet bombings. And snipers on roofs...and such.

I also believe that they should add more...well...REAL AI Aircraft. like in san andreas, you could shoot down AI's, that's not the case in GTA IV, because there were just 2 planes in a never ending circle.

There was an outdoor mall in Los Santos, and there was a strip mall in Las Venturas. Eventhough the one in LS wasn't interactive, atleast it was represented. How the hell is the biggest city in the GTA series (LC), going to be without a mall interactive or not?

I'm really going to be dissappointed if we cannot enter the terminal. Jetways to enter larger planes without having to spawn a box truck would be nice, but a detailed I interior is mandatory.

I Shot The Sheriff

But if someone can be the boss of the match by being in a plane / chopper, the only solution is to get one yourself, but then the point is lost because you can't play the way you want, the structure of the game is just made that way

Interesting - I thought there was a mall or two in San Andreas but have not played it for some time.

I agree though, in addition to a fully interactive Airport Terminal interior, there needs to be an interactive mall.

Airports are MORE than just a building fascade with a runway. They are busy transportation hubs, with shops, baggage handling areas, and mechanical fascilities that provide air conditioning, heating, water, and electrical power. How about fully accessible control towers? Fueling tankers? Hangars?

I'd LOVE to see connecting trains and buses AT the airport itself. At JFK, there is the airtrain that connects DIRECTLY within the Jet Blue terminal. The more complex, the better and more interesting to explore. Rockstar needs to get back to the wonder of exploration, which has taken a back seat to repetitive driving and shooting gameplay. I realize that it's GTA, but going places that are interesting to explore was always a big part of the GTA experience.

I would like if they had an option to adjust the volume of aircraft. Like you say in IV multiplayer you always ended up in the airport but it was very noisy and tiring to spend time in.

It would be silly to remove the noise completely because that's unrealistic, but it would be great if you could turn it down at will.

HAIL YUSS!!1

Don't forget Jim Carrey driving airport stairs around the runway.

Hmm, Stair Cars. Like this one from Arrested Development,

user posted image

Having driveable stair cars would also solve potential access problems regarding larger planes which may yet feature in GTA V (I'm looking at you AT-400).

I think someone commented on runway length and in GTA IV it is a pretty pathetic length of 0.772 kilometres long (0.48 miles long). I just drove the entire length of the south runway to find out. cool.gif

biggrin.gif Cheers
