Deffpony
I'm probably not alone in saying that the airport in IV kinda sucked. But given the fact that there were no planes in IV it's forgivable. However, if you have ever played the multiplayer you know that most matches tend to gravitate toward the airport. This usually results in one guy in a chopper spanking the rest of the players either after they spawn, flee, or attempt to get a chopper themselves. I'm hoping that V will not only have a more dynamic and lively airport but also a means of making the multiplayer more interesting. What do you guys think about this? Any ideas

CodeFail
I agree, multiplayer at the airport in GTAIV is a bit un-balanced. The host always runs for the helis, blows the others up, and shoots anything that moves.
Algonquin Assassin
There needs to be an interior. VC had one, but SA and GTA IV didn't. Fail. Even more so in SA due to the relevence of planes.
GTAV2011
There's so much potential with GTA V. I have no doubt R* will nail airports this time around, and those helicopter knobs will have to find something better to do. I'm expecting big things from V. Having a living airport would be awesome. Let's have access to the terminals, be able to board planes with our buddies, and see the general public going about their business- before we slaughter them. mdr279
The airport needs: -An interior (like MiamiVice said) -Flyable planes (we are getting them) -To not give the player a wanted level upon entry -AI aircraft to actually take-off, land, taxi and pull up next to jetways. Raynos
Thing that annoyed me about the airport in IV was the instant stars... I just wanted to drive around the dirt track but NO... Lol at least the pc version allowed me to do this.

I wouldn't mind a tweaked version of SA's approach, where you have to earn the right to go on the runway with a licence or something. Even if its a fake pass you get in a relatively early mission. Yeah, I know why it's there, I mean really, you can't just drive on an international airport without some kind of consequence etc but I'd have to have a system where I can do it, maybe a pass, a license to drive on the runway, maybe with a Janitor outfit lol
dukee152
well the airport setup in gta iv was much better than the setup they had used in gta iv or vc with its curved runway. I hope that they make a good model of LAX or LSX this time around and make it not have a 4 star wanted level every time. Also I hope that we can make it into a good place to get the top speed of the supercars and to blow a bunch of sh*t up.
enjoithepain
Yeah, the airport needs to be a little bit more exciting. Like you said, the airport is usually the hub in free mode. And an interior is a must
73duster
I want to see something like the airport in Max Payne 3. I KNOW it's not an open world map, but that airport is very large, with a complete interior, including a large baggage handling area with conveyor belt system. Fill it with people, and more shops, and it would be an AWESOME place to explore and cause havoc.
DeafMetal
Y'mean like crowded runways? Men directing planes? Luggages being thrown by careless employees? HAIL YUSS!!1 Don't forget Jim Carrey driving airport stairs around the runway. OP: Yes. I didn't quite mind them, but now that I think about it, it could use some improvements. Maybe some tourists, an inside of the facility, etc. I wouldn't mind if they didn't expand on it either, though.
infiniteammo
Airports sucked, well until I learned I could get a 6 star wanted level, then just park midway up the parking garage and watch as NOOSE snipers from some of the 5+ attack helicopters would take down anyone breaking even the most minor law. >.> Just sittin' there, watching helicopters spawn and other players trying to break into cars ...then getting killed mercilessly by the cops... Fun times. But no I think the airport is always going to be a big draw, huge lanes, flying vehicles, big area to do donuts in, flip your car/bike and land perfectly. "Stunting" as the kids call it. Plus you know sooner or later someone's going to make a run over there to get a heli... Personally I had the most fun under the railway in the first island, lot of tight corners to hem up opponents in, my personal best kill streak in IV was there, two cars with four players decided they were going to "get" me, came down an alley, before they got out of their cars I opened up with that cop shotgun, eight people in three seconds while they're still in their cars. It was a beautiful thing.
MRPG500
The runway should have at least 3 KM (use a conversion if you don´t use kilometers) long like real international airports that are at sea level.

Any ideas I kinda hope the airport isn't really a spawn point. In IV you would mostly always spawn in the airport which did get annoying. The things I want are: - To be able to go in them - No wanted star - flyable planes these are the things I can think of right now.
Patrizio
@ red - Agree with this. At a basic level: - No wanted level (I don't care if it fits in with the theme [sorry Miami!]) as its just too restrictive. - Enterable. Only the Vice City renditions had this, but this needs to return. Its immersion and adds to the "living, breathing city". I was amazed this wasn't in IV, particularly with the realistic approach given the Subway station at the airport and the airport only vehicles. TonyResta
As many have and have not said, a good detailed airport IMO should include: - Decent size terminals and runways. - Vast interiors with people going around in a rush with baggage. - Shuttle buses and taxis that come and pick people up. - Real drive-able planes parked, departing or arriving. - Good plane engine sounds, like the rumble you feel when they accelerate. - Different airline companies. They will probably take inspiration from LA's real airports so i don't know how they are but just some ideas.

Hijacking a plane? I can see it now... "Rockstar's latest installment of GTA takes video game terrorism to a whole new level, having the player hijack a commercial plane in midflight, obviously a homage to 9/11." (just some of the bullsh*t we would see on the news) It wouldn't work at all.
HOAXi
Yeah a crowded airport with ticketlines and baggage check-in, baggage reclaim belts, secutity check, duty-free shops, airport traffic (bus, baggage handlers, airplane director etc.) and the most important airport feature... the sexy departure/arrival indicator boards
Guest
Plane hijacking needs to be in. I want to walk into an airport with a trench coat and cap, walk into a plane and wait until we're in mid air. Then mug EVERYONE in the plane, taking all of their baggage filled with money, and parachute out. Easiest money ever. Cops can't find me.

Don't worry, you'll hit some powerline cables as you usually do, with CJ standing there ready to mug you
