iCaramelBird
Hello. Okay I know, there are many topics about phones but I felt like this should of been a new one, open to discussion about the personal features I would love for a phone on GTA V. Now, on GTA IV I felt like the phone could of done so much more, with missions and all sorts of new features okay. Different Phones and Different Customization In Grand Theft Auto IV, you got two different phones both from the campaign. I had a problem with that. I wanted to buy and customize my phone more than the background and ringtone. It would awesome if in V, that you could choose the colour, a custom-made background, heck it'd be amazing if we could alter notes or have a wider variety on ringtones. Also it would be good, depending on what phone you choose, depends on what ringtones you could have, or how far you could customize it. Music/Headphones Now throughout the GTA Series, you could only hear music through the radio in a vehicle. How about your character could walk down the street, and you have an option to put in headphones and hear music through your phone. It could also work in cars, if you just want to keep hearing the music when you step out of the car. It'd also work, because you could spend money downloading songs, and it would have a wide variety of songs. Maybe even setting some of the songs as ringtones? Signal and Intercepting Calls Assuming that there is a dessert or countryside in Los Santos, depending where you go on the map depends on the signal on the phone, depends on the quality of your calls. I don't mean it'll be static, but if you're in the middle of the dessert then you can't call anyone at all, so you can't call any help. Or maybe, if you go into the forest - someone could intercept your call talking about odd things like 'I'm watching you' or 'BigFoot/The Monster is coming...' I think it'd help with the atmosphere, making the game feel much more isolated but still keeping the comedy of the GTA Series. What do you guys think? Delanto
The customization, in my opinion, is not a big aspect of the game and makes minimal difference, I did not mind the models given, and found that the ringtones and themes you could buy and set were just enough and perfect. I agree with your idea of signal, would be kinda weird to get service in the middle of nowhere.
MosquitoSmasher
Speaking of ringtones, the lesbians ringtone was awesome, but that old lady breaking her leg...OMFG, Rockstar's sense of humour, LMAO!

I can see where you're coming from, but I just felt like if we wanted more options to buy something why not something that we would use throughout pretty much the whole campaign. Kifflom112
Disagree with other comment, customization, as long as it's not overdun, is great imo. I'd love an iFruit Phone 5.
Raynos
Hmmm I never really used my phone in GTA IV, I mean, apart from annoying friends calling you and mission givers, what was the phone good for? You couldn't even take pictures and upload them as screenshots.. Customisation is all good but what's the point with in game cell phones?
dumbassbuffet
I've been thinking of posting something like this for a while now, I've even made a mockup of what 2 devices might look like. you should be able to buy new phones, each with new features, each is a tip of the hat to a real world smartphone world. there's the TossPhone (WinPho), Eunneux (Android) and iFruit (iPhone)
mvega0422
I just wish you could send a damn text message to people on Multiplayer servers. And maybe send a picture text message (using your phones keypad and camera) to a friend through Rockstar SocialClub to allow that level of communication even in single-player. Bertanius
Considering how much more advanced phones are nowadays since 2008, I would expect the player getting some sort of high-end phone that runs of spin-off of Android or iOS. It should let you play some simple games, listen to music, go on the Internet, and might be used as a map. You should also be able to take & save images. I also hope they allow more numbers to be called, GTA IV lacked so much with the phone, I'd like every number shown in-game to be callable. I like the idea of being out of range when out in the countryside, although I'm not sure about battery life, should the phone last forever like in GTA IV? Or should you have to charge it? dooshtoomun
I like the headphones idea for music on the go, so you don't have so sit in a car for music.
RandomNoun
I like the headphones idea for music on the go, so you don't have so sit in a car for music. They were going to do that with IV, but then cut it. And will you have to plug in iFruit phones to charge them every twelve hours or so?
OriZarhiKing5
Everything you said is cool, but what about a real camera, not like in GTA IV, in a higher resolution and you can save pics to the gallery and even set them as wallpapers. And I also want a store for smartphones where you could choose your phone and buy it
Greeno
For smartphones, there could be an app where it Identify's cars and gives a price for them so you can steel it, keep it mint and sell it. Also another app which finds hidden weapons and health packs
Dick Justice
The phone in V will probably be a smartphone that should work more like the PDA in Chinatown Wars. It should have quick access to music, the in-game internet, your character's e-mail, and an organiser that is vastly improved from the one in IV. Imagine your character runs a car showroom, you can quickly go to a menu on your phone to see how much the business costs to operate and how much revenue it is bringing in. If you are not happy with your profit margins, you could do some work to improve them. What if your character was a drug dealer, you could check to see how much you are buying and selling; call different people to set up different meets and buy wholesale or something once you gain more recognition on the street. Just like in the real world, the phone should be one of the most vital utensils of our character's existence.

Customisation is all good but what's the point with in game cell phones? Yeah i really don't think it needs to be improved at all, IV's phone was great it had all the functions you needed. I think improving the phones anymore is a waste of time that could be spent on any number of things that are actually going to make a difference in gameplay, changing the phones background is not something that makes a difference. While I agree with you here Finn, I feel the Phone is something they are only going to improve. Particularly if they introduce more customization. For one the ability to record video clips on your phone was not available in IV AFAIK and if I was to predict one thing for V I'm sure this will be in... Plus, the SmartPhone market has advanced even greater since 2008, I can only seeing them parodying it further.
