BullworthAcademy
Tried watching it. Didn't like it. Guess you have to have autism to understand it. You made a topic about My Little Pony a while ago talking about how you were a 14 year old boy who loved watching it. You're not fooling anyone. I'm afraid that's false. Sorry about your Asperger's. That wasn't you The guy who made that thread made another one in the Movies and TV section.
E.A.B.
I can't comprehend why these men want to sit around watching a show about talking ponies. And your pastor can't comprehend why you would want to play a game where you murder people. I can't comprehend a lot of things, therefore it isn't for me anyway. Case closed I don't care what the f*ck you want to watch, but please, talk about it somewhere else. This site is pretty much the only place I have left where brony nonsense isn't common place on at least some portion of it, and I sincerely hope it stays that way. Oh Oh man I just had an idea GTA:Equestrian Crime wave. This would be right up there with GTA:SA Touhou mods that have frilly dressed girls calling you a busta. Oh boy someone make it happen. It would have everything: strange horse-like character models. 10 percent jokes flying f*cking everywhere. This is what the GTA community needs to stand up for furry rights. Such an oppressed minority smh #fursecution. Not sure if you guys knew or not, but theres this show called "my little pony: friendship is magic", How could one not know? The fans never seem to shut the f*ck up about it. This apparent exasperation over a fandom not shutting up about its likes is funny coming from someone who named himself Futurama Freak. ghost of delete key
The only thing more disconcerting than the "brony" phenomenon is MLP:Rule34. Proof that the human race is doomed. Besides, MLP isn't exactly my thing. I'm more of a Hello Kitty type. Also, if it didn't fizzle away after 2 years running, this is not going to go away at all. Also, doesn't this topic belong in the Movies & TV sub? <awaits flames for having a bad attitude for pointing this out /> "I can just imagine him driving off the edge of a cliff like Thelma & Louise, playing his Q:13 mix at full volume, crying into a bottle." - Craig
bluesboyjr
The only thing more disconcerting than the "brony" phenomenon is MLP:Rule34. Proof that the human race is doomed. The human race has been doomed for a long time - if the internet has made porn of everything from Alvin & The Chipmunks to Finding Nemo to Ben 10, why would you think that something as innocent as My Little Pony would be safe? Even our beloved Niko Bellic has his own erotic fanart. Anyway, I used to be GTAForums' resident obnoxious ponyfag, before I had the realisation that me slapping ponies over my avatar would make people take one look at my posts and write me off as an annoying insecure manchild, when I'd rather people actually read what I have written and then write me off as an annoying insecure manchild. I'm still a fan of the show (I find the characters interesting, the animation pretty and the jokes genuinely funny, but that's just me), but I now feel that GTAForums is better off being pony-free: even I'm getting tired of seeing ponies pop up where they don't belong on the internet. I know of other members of this forum who are (or at least were) fans of the show, but luckily they seem to keep it under their hats too. As for the "brony" fanbase as a whole, it does appear to be full of obnoxious 13 year olds who keep telling everyone how secure in their masculinity they are and creepy manchildren who collect all the playsets, but remember that in any group of people, the most extreme and most annoying are always louder than everyone else. I can't tell you why the show is so popular: maybe it's because it gives insecure people something to feel a part of that at the same time isn't "mainstream", maybe it's because it lets males attach to something more feminine without feeling too weird about it, maybe it's actually a good show people can relate too. I'm not going to be one of those twats who say "you only hate it because you haven't watched it", because it definitely isn't the "best show in the world" and it definitely isn't for everyone, but there's no harm in watching it. Everybody likes Pixar films and old Nintendo games, despite those being aimed at children too. I have to agree with TheGreatGig23 though - "brony" is a horrible, horrible word. I'm a GTA fan, but I don't go around calling myself a 'Grand Theft Aubro' or something stupid like that.

Finn 7 five 11
I haven't seen it and I don't intend to, there seems to be some strange form of mind control that convinces viewers that a show for little girls is totally worth talking about and watching. Bronies are just victims of this mind control. I suspect if I watched an episode I would be transformed into some fat autistic loser who will keep insisting at inopportune times "how complex its themes are" Exhibit A: If you like cringing [youtube*]SSlKh4if6P0 There are literally hundreds of these, how did so many people come to the conclusion this was a good idea? Yuuck that guy in the video was disgusting! looks like the next Martin Bryant. My little pony is a kids show, maybe with the odd adult joke thrown in, it definitely isn't a clever show where the whole thing has underlying themes, people are just interpreting it wrong. Regular show/Adventure time are kids shows with underlying themes/jokes, but it's still a kids show.

The_Anti-tragedy
I like the show but don't have an obsession about it, it has that thing that other shows are lacking now. Like SpongeBob, watch an episode from Season 6 and tell me that SpongeBob isn't dumb. Friendship is Magic is an okay show, but at least Cartoon Network is also returnng to its roots, so is Disney. To me, it's the unique plot of every episode and the fleshed out and well-writen characters that gets me hooked, not the fact that they're talking ponies. I also just like anthropomorphic animals, so that might be a reason. That's why Brian Griffin is my second-most favourie character on Family Guy behind Stewie. I also wish the bronies wouldn't talk everything about the show on every single website, they're giving sane bronies a bad name by looking bad. Plus, they make them seem like a psychotic and crazed stereotype. Edited October 8, 2012 by The_Anti-tragedy

I have a sister who watches Disney channel all the time, and whenever I sit around and catch some of it I feel like it's the most mind-destroying bullsh*t I've ever seen, although my parents probably thought the same way about the sh*t I watched as a kid. Doublepulse
I have had 2 good friends in middle school, and after middle school I moved away.. I never got in contact with them until after high school and I got back on contact through Facebook and Steam.. Both of my friends admit to me they are bronies..It was a little shocking when I heard it. So I don't hate them, and they are still good friends to me, but now I know what our differences are clear on the table.. But really, the whole show really created a really weird and unintended fanbase. Is this really suppose to be normal? I really don't know. I was told the people who watch it have some sort of thing like ADD or something like that. Ironically one of my friends fit the description of that kind of person.. But does anyone feel like when you find out someone is a Brony, it is almost like finding out someone is gay? No offense intended, and sorry if it did offend anyone.. It also made me wonder who was the first person to start the Brony club..
Benjimino234
It also made me wonder who was the first person to start the Brony club.. I think there was a certain novelty for 'joining' or just watching it, when it started on /b/. "It's a kids show but hey we're grown men and we're watching it too! Look how funny and odd we are." Those were my initial thoughts when I discovered bronies. I certainly think that's what drew in the starting premise of the fanbase then people actually took a genuine liking to it and others followed. Then there's the "being part of a group" aspect - plus there's a lot of creativity in the brony fanbase. There's so much OC content like art, fics and music - so there's a lot of stuff people can do and show off.

Pat
I think there was a certain novelty for 'joining' or just watching it, when it started on /b/. It started on /co/ between September and October of 2010. It spread to /b/ in January of 2011. I only know this because I've been visiting /co/ for the past several years, it used to be a good place for general cartoon discussion. Now the board quality has gone to such sh*t that I don't think I'll ever go back.
Benjimino234
Ah yes /co/ I knew 4chan had those sub areas but wasn't eactly sure. KnowYourMeme did a pretty good coverage on MLP, to a complete outsider only the darker side of the brony fandom is recognized - I try to be as unbiased as possible. My Little Pony isn't, in case you haven't noticed, designed for grown men who should know better. Sorry but your side of the so called 'case' was terrible and not completely thought through. But that wasn't my argument, I wasn't taking that from his statement. I was taking something completely different, and while you're right from a different angle, I wasn't arguing that angle ANYWAY. But to answer to your statement: My Little Pony isn't, in case you haven't noticed, designed for grown men who should know better. ''Men who should know better'' I don't f*cking understand this. They aren't raping the town schoolgirl. They should know better than to enjoy a show not aimed at their demographic? It's such a sh*tty argument based on personal judgement of what should and should not consist a man. What you should and should not be doing. It's basically lecturing on sanctioned and non-sanctioned activities on something as f*cking trivial as television and cartoons. BET is aimed at my demographic. So is Telemundo. I don't f*cking watch either. When did we become so obsessed with target audience? Oh, we aren't. We weren't when we were underage and playing GTA. We aren't when we still watch cartoons (its cool, though, cause those cartoons aren't frilly and girly like it is for those fa**ot dyke homosuck pony fans I only watch tough manly cartoons fagit) we're only obsessed with it when it comes to one show. 'Should know better' doesn't apply to entertainment, cause it's all mindless indulgence. You say it as if there are certain cartoons you should know are bad and detrimental and somehow 'evil'. Don't give me that ''I know what you should and shouldn't be doing in your life at this point'' bullsh*t. Grand Theft Auto is a game designed for a range of people Including underage kids Both of my friends admit to me they are bronies..It was a little shocking when I heard it. So I don't hate them, and they are still good friends to me, but now I know what our differences are clear on the table.. Jesus Christ, they aren't part of the god damn clan. ''Our differences are clear''. It's not that serious. Grow up and get over it. I watch Storage Wars. I HAVE DRAWN THE LINE IN THE SAND AND EVERYTHING IS SET IN STONE. THE COUNTER HAS STARTED. If there is anything more immature and childish than watching magical talking horses, it's treating a cartoon as if its a case of homosexuality. Or worse....what if they were secretly black?! It's on the same retarded level. I didn't mean to come in as the horsef*cking defender. But these two lines of thought in the critique are so retarded that it makes me rage. Not because it's aimed at MLP, but because its stupid to begin with. I honestly believe that there is nothing worse than the MLP fandom than the haters that have the guillotine and castration machine ready for anything that LOOKS like a talking horse. It's much more annoying than the fandom itself. Much worser. And like the fandom, they never shut the f*ck up. Edited October 10, 2012 by E.A.B. E.A.B.
EAB, have you ever been mistaken for a brony because of your interest in some other cartoony/anime style shows that involve talking animals? Anime styled shows that have talking animals? As main characters? I don't watch much anime, but I can't think of any. If it has cutesy talking animals, I PROBABLY wouldn't watch it since the style doesn't grasp me immediately, even though there might be good in the show. and I've never been mistaken for a brony because I DO watch MLP. I may not throw myself into the fandom, join online discussions, collect anything, or do much other than watch the show. But that's enough, I think. I still don't consider myself one, but what can I do. You seem to have a dog in this fight. It's not that I'm insulted if anyone criticizes the show. Just like anyone watching it, people have the right and prerogative to dislike it for various reasons and not watch it. But as I said, some of the lines of criticism are absurdly stupid and come off as justification for disliking something they simply don't like rather than legitimate criticism. -the writing is NOT what its praised to be -I dislike flash -too cutesy for me -it's really mediocre -The 'lesson of the day' format is weak and not likable -X did it better all legitimate But, ''LOL U SHUD KNO BETTER'' pisses me off. And I would be just as mad if it were used against anything else, because Im mad at the argument, not that something is being criticized. But you're right, if it were some other show I probably wouldn't rage as hard.
Finn 7 five 11
Our gripe isn't really with people like you E.A.B. But back on topic, I watched a episode of mlp yesterday, and I have to say that the show is too cutesy for me, why (some) adults like watching this particular cartoon I don't know.
