Graphic Content

With the content of their releases since GTA IV (RDR and MP3) it has me question how graphic GTA V will be.

The gore in RDR was definitely an upgrade from IV, and MP3 took it to yet another level adding even more visceral detail than we'd seen before.

The most probable possibility is that GTA V will continue this trend and offer some certainly graphic content, but how far will it go?

Could we see gibs, grenades literally blowing people to pieces, dismemberment?

Personally, I'd love to see a really gory GTA.

A game is not about graphics..

Why don't check the trailer, screenshots?

I think the atmosphere in GTA V will be amazing! it was in GTA SA, VC also amazing wink.gif

Sorry but if the game gets an 18 (or adult whatever) rating then only adults (depending on what area you live for what age "adult" is classed as) should be playing it... If a kid then goes on a rampage and blames the game, then instead of saying " Oh, R* contributed to mass murder because thats what you do in the game "... Maybe people should be thinking.. Hmm, Blame the parents....

I vote gory smile.gif

Remember GTA Vice City, how you could really blow people's heads off? That kind of gore was never to be seen again in SA and IV, sadly. I don't think they will go back to that honestly. It's probably too much, and while it was in VC, VC was more cartoony looking compared to IV and it's only gonna get more 'realistic' in terms of looks.

Ever since R* got sued for the Hot Coffee mod they've become p*ssies. Before that they always used to push boundaries in terms of sex, gore etc... but now they are too afraid of boycotts and lawsuits due to retarded brainwashed parents & activists, so I think the violence will only be slightly more or the same as in GTA IV.

Seeing as GTA is not in the horror genre, I don't think we'll be seeing extreme gore. It might just come off as too cartoony and I'd rather they keep it classy. I don't mind blood stains and bullet wounds though.

Limbs should be able to be ripped or blown off. Holes in the head when you get a headshot. Bikinis fall off women beach-goers.

Showing a penis for 2 seconds in a non-sexual context isn't exactly 'pushing the boundaries'.

Just giving him his best bet, considering how Rockstar's violence model was established in IV, there's no way Take-Two is stepping back. None of that will make it into V.

Still ain't got nothing to do with what the OP was trying to say.

As for my opinion, why not have gore in a game rated M. Maybe have an option to turn it off so people who don't like the idea of continuously shredding humans to pieces won't complain.

No, but showing dead naked bodies with full frontal nudity in LA Noire certainly did, and how much controversy did that game get again ? What people seem to be forgetting is that the media are starting to change the way we used to perceive video games, since most twenty-year-olds were twelve when GTA SA came out and even then people were starting to change the way they viewed games.

Pretty soon there'll be a universal rating system for all games and maybe in a decade or so eighty to ninety percent of games if not more could be download only. That way even if the universal rating system takes while to implement - which I'm sure it won't, but if it does the rating the game gets won't affect sales considering that most people will be buying video games like apps rather then clothes.

In response to the topic, it depends on if it'd fit the theme well, I'm unsure at this current moment in time at what the theme might be as we've seen so little of the game so far but if I had to guess I'd say that it'll be a somewhat similar system to MP3, perhaps with a bit more "choice".

What I mean by that is that where the player shoots the enemy will actually effect how they respond, for example in Red Dead Redemption if you were good enough with your gun you could disarm people entirely or take out their legs and watch them crawl for their lives. I'd hazard a guess that R* will most probably have made a drastic improvement to this system allowing for more complexity in gun fights - I would love to be in a situation where if I shoot a guy with a shotgun he can't hold right and makes incorrect shots screaming in pain and killing his allies.

As graphic and brutal as this all sounds I still doubt that it'll be stamped with the "Adults Only" rating system as it just doesn't seem like more graphic blood and violence can dictate a higher age rating, I mean come on, the U.S rating system's already a joke and the fact that most movies that teenagers can watch have a far higher amount of the three evils in them, those being "Drug, Sex and Violence" and yet still the movie gets away with a lower rating then a game that's considerably less violent and gory (The game's not got real people in it for starters) it just boggles the mind.

Anyway if it were up to me then yes I'd say why not, we are all adults here and I doubt a few more pixels on screen that resemble blood will cause us any lack of sleep.

I want something subtle but not gory, like sounds of crushed bones, screams, etc but not something explicit, something subtle but even if they add gore like in MP3 that would be fine smile.gif

Extreme Gore will not be in it, because it's just sexual things that get games Adult rating, it's also Extreme Gore, and Consoles don't have any Adult rating games

I liked the fact that you could literally put holes in people in MP3. I want to see that in GTA.

Gore is all about context to me. The same with sex scenes or anything like that. If it's just put in for "shock value" it seems pointless to me.

Red Dead Redemption worked due to the setting it was in. Those days were brutal but with a modern era GTA I don't expect it to be as graphic. I would however like to see more detail. Max Payne 3 did it well where you shot a guy and seen a bullet enter his body and then come out the other side. I wouldn't mind at all if GTA V borrowed the slow motion kill cam from Max Payne 3 to bring the detail of the game to life even more.

Yeah, me too pretty much.

The subtlety was the most effect I've ever gotten from GTA's history of violent content, MP3's level of gore was terrific in that it wasn't over the top, there was just as much blood as there needed to be but the subtle little noises and animations are what made some of those final kill shots borderline disturbing.

Personally I'd like to use the riding lawnmower to mulch pedestrians, then scrape up the goo into Ziploc baggies, freeze them, and then throw said baggy gore bricks off the tallest buildings at people in multiplayer.

Barring that, if they keep it at Max Payne 3's level, I'll be a happy camper.
