AntMark86
Hello everyone. Sorry if this has been posted before, but I cant find a search feature here to check. I have GTA SA installed on my pc and as you may know, there is no option for 1366 x 768 in the display settings. I have tried a mod, where you drag new asi files into the SA folder, but that has had no effect. Any suggestions for this as I really cant play the game in other resolutions, it looks shockingly bad. THANK YOU!
lil weasel
The Official Patch V1.01 will fix that and other problems [listed below] with the First Edtion DVD game. • The patch V1.01 contains a lot of fixes. First what it adds. There is now support for 720p and 1080i HDTV resolutions, and also the game now displays the Version Number on the title screen. In the bug fixes department, The annoying and often asked issue is fixed on machines where the OS has been updated (one OS installed over top of another) and has 2 registry keys that point to the users "My Documents". Here is a full bug fix list; • - Issue fixed on machines where the OS has been updated (one OS installed over top of another) and has 2 registry keys that point to the users "My Documents" folder (we incorrectly used to assume the Win2000 folder, now correctly uses the last installed OS folder) - users know this as "user account period bug". • - Crash when entering advanced display options with only 32 meg of video ram (32 meg of video ram is not supported and will only allow use of 640*480 in 16 and 32 bit. At this resolution it is likely you will see the "Black Roads" LOD problem). We do NOT however disallow machines with 32 meg of video ram from running GRAND THEFT AUTO: San Andreas. • - Crash when entering advanced display options on a dual monitor machine after :- starting game on primary monitor in maximum resolution, exiting, starting again in maximum resolution on secondary monitor. Secondary monitor maximum resolution had to be greater than maximum resolution of primary monitor. • - Destroyed cars now are correct colour. • - Dirty cars now able to get clean. • - Numpad 5 key is now mappable when re-defining controls. • - Issue on all machines where certain collisions caused parts of the audio system to crash (sound effects, cutscene audio - only radio keeps going) - users know this as "Rain / Thunderstorm bug". • - Improvements to DVD streaming. • - Audio problems in interior / exterior transitions and getting in / out of cars fixed. • - Some fixes to ensure reverb is not present at certain save points. • - Improvements to dance game timings. • - Crash occuring when using "user radio files" while the frame limiter is disabled. • On the downside it will stop the hot coffee modification from working correctly, however other modifications should work perfectly fine. See the readme for more information. Or you could just buy the Current DVD (Second Edition), which already has all the available patch fixes.. Uninstall your current game and reinstall with the DVD. If you are modding you can downgrade (not discussed here) to remove the programming blocks to mods. Download (v3) games are not moddable. Girish
The Official Patch V1.01 will fix that Erm no, it won't. 1366x768 is generally the max native resolution for laptops with 15.6" screens. However, SA only supports upto 1280x720 which results in black bars appearing on either sides of the screen. @AntMark86: I need to know which graphics card you have. radioman
1366x768 is generally the max native resolution for laptops with 15.6" screens Not really? -at least on the certain HP 15.6" laptops, as I have got 1600X900 resolution on my V2 game-and I play on a laptop...As seen here.. lol I can't prove it on that laptop no more(other than that screenshot), as my gf has that PC now...This is on Windows 7 Home Premium...as that was true for Windows XP, as my XP Pro laptop has a max. resolution of: 1280X800 and that is a Compaq Presario PC with a V2 game..Here is the one from an XP laptop with max. resolution. I still use that one at times..So, I think it depends on the game version and/or the laptop? That's got me curious now-lol Another thing I am confused about, is with the 1280X800 resolution, on my XP laptop it is Full Screen, yet on Windows 7 laptop it has the Black Bars on the side of the screen-and Widescreen is OFF on both PC's...? AntMark86
I have downloaded the patch but cant update the game. I get the message "Old file not found", apparently means im already on v 2, which is od as I have no options here for 720 or 1080 dpi in my settings, the game looks pretty crap and im running a high spec PC. lil weasel
If you have V2 (second edition) then the DVD, Box, and lower right of the menu screen will say V2.

It depends on the manufacturer and quite a few of them prefer low res screens as they cost less. As of now, we have no idea what PC AntMark86 has and since he mentioned the 1366x768 resolution in the OP, it's safe to assume he has one of the low res PCs. im running a high spec PC. Not enough info, dude. We still need to know your full specifications, including what graphics card you have.

AntMark86
If you have V2 (second edition) then the DVD, Box, and lower right of the menu screen will say V2.0 Yes I have V2, the game is ok and every game I have bought in the last 8 years has been compatible with 1366x678 x32. I dont have a laptop, im using a desktop. S.A is playable for me though and the graphics look fine, not as good as i remembered from the PS2 version. (Also, in the night clubs, the lights have no glow, they render as long solid lines which is kind of annoying). My specs are good enough for old games like this, generally I can run current games with no problems. Edited October 4, 2012 by AntMark86

Prometheus
Try using this tool. PS Make sure to back up the files before replacing any. There's a better solution if you don't want to replace files, of course if you have ATI Catalyst installed. 1)Go to ATI CATALYST Applicaton:- Graphics/Desktop & Display/ click triangle button in big Screen Model and press "Properties" option - now change resolution to lower one.(in my lapy i have changed it from 1366x768 to 1280x720.) - Save & Exit. 2)now again go to ATI CATALYST Application - Graphics/Desktop & Display/ this time click on bottom left small Laptop icon's triangle from where u can get to "Configure" option - now you will find three scaling options: >Preserve aspect ratio >full screen >centered - u select full screen button - save & exit. 3)now go to desktop - click right click of mouse - go to "Personalize" option - than click "Display" button - in that u will find "Display Resolution" Option,go to there. - now change resolution to max (as it was 1366x768 in my case) - apply ,save changes abd exit . AntMark86
Try using this tool. PS Make sure to back up the files before replacing any. Hi, thank you, but i have already tried that one. I think as I have V2 I cant apply any mods. But thanks very much for helping! I am actually happy with my graphic settings now (after much playing around). Im on the lowest visual quality setting (which doesnt really look much different to very high) and im on 1024x786 x32 The only that concerns me now, as mentioned above, is the lighting effects in night clubs, they are beams of solid line with no glow. The clubs look really rubbish inside, maybe my pc is worse than I thought lol. Edited October 4, 2012 by AntMark86
Girish
Try changing the configuration from the ATI Catalyst settings as Prometheus has suggested in his post. It has been reported to work.
AntMark86
Try changing the configuration from the ATI Catalyst settings as Prometheus has suggested in his post. It has been reported to work. Thanks, but I will leave it as I have the latest ATI control centre which is different to the above, it doesnt have those options, a lot of the menu buttons have been renamed, so cant follow the instructions.
