You're so sensible, careful and lovely person. How great guy you are, Mikey smile.gif

Anyway, I suggest to bring up a new topic, and that's animation skills. How good you are at animating?

What kind of animation you are talking about ?

Char animation (ifp)

or something like MK1 Avatar ?

I'd assume it'd have something to do with modding since that's the topic. An animator needs to crawl out of the woodworks, as does a modeller so I can make some crazily fun mods with 'em tounge.gif I'm kinda bored of playing with pure data.

Why don't you learn some animating & modelling? Acquiring more skills couldn't hurt, and you'll be that much less bored.

MY REPLY DISSAPEARED! DEJI ANGRY!

I've already tried animating, modelling AND texturing. I failed miserably at them all. My brain is more logical than visually creative. I can only do some basic GFX stuff and that's as far as it gets in that aspect. I spent hours making my only 2 reskins for knifes, and they were far from nice. I chose the coding lane of modding and it suits me, and I'm damn good at it and want to collaborate with skilled modders in other fields to start creating even greater things. Plenty other people choose the modelling and texturing paths, yet it's still so hard to find anyone with as much enthusiasm. Why would I learn to model if it's really that bad that no one ever has the patience to do it? tounge.gif

I guess it's hard to find enthusiasm for III era games these days. Even if there is enthusiasm it's often not accompanied by skill. I've tried my hand at a lot of different areas in modding but ended up as a jack of all trades: got some basics of things but I'm only skilled at Coding (I started trying to model things but 3ds max has so many different buttons and functions and I was too lazy to learn them all). tounge.gif

Have you touched on modding IV yet? Imagine what you could do with a much more powerful engine. If not IV, then maybe V will peak your interest since it's Los Santos revisited, and I'm assuming numerous features from SA should return.

I agree with Adler. I also think many GTA SA features will return in GTA V, but the question is, will it be moddable as gta sa was? Edited by ilir

I know animating a bit) Learned how it works when tried to make a custom cutscene.

Last anim I needed was for VJ for interactive car push-starting... I hear that the Xbox360's motion sensor thing can be used for motion capture (makes sense, really). When I can afford such things, perhaps I'll look into getting some help and creating a way to motion capture cutscenes (one day, in imagination land).

As the new GTA's are on a new engine, designed by R* themselves, it's gonna be much harder to reverse engineer and thus mod efficiently. With RenderWare, we had access to the engine SDK (albeit illegally), which helps in many ways, not just with coding but with understanding file formats for other mods. And with the engine, a large team of skilled modders could probably pull off recreating GTASA in the same engine, like has been done with Half Life ('cept the team behind that ported it to a different engine). With RAGE, we'd have to recreate the whole damn engine based on reverse engineered pseudocode. It wouldn't even be worth trying.

Plus GTASA was modding friendly. REALLY modding friendly. I doubt R* are gonna hand source files out to modders again like they did with MTA, and that act provided a lot of headway for me to do great things with Vigilante Justice. And older games are generally just easier to mod. SA was quite low-tech even for it's time (which was a whopping 8 years ago, we've had a lot of time to figure it out and there's still a lot to discover), but it was pretty packed. It's much easier to reconstruct a sandcastle than a fort. And the GTA IV is much more well-constructed and fortified. Expect GTA V to be the Fort Knox of GTA's (hopefully it's not empty though and has a recreation room with a pool table and hidden doors, unlike GTA IV).

Don't mean to put a downer on the future of next-era GTA modding though, err, just my thoughts tounge2.gif

Hehe nice analogy and couldn't be more true. I still wish V would be moddable. There's still plenty of time to hope with V's release being ambiguous as always. moto_whistle.gif

So here we can discuss about mods and all huh?/

So can someone tell me..

I recently found out an interesting stuff present in the original PC version of GTA San Andreas. colgate.gif

It is a mission which was previously present in the San Andreas but it was later cut:

In this mission ,You will have to go to Las Venturas Airport where Ran Fa Li's Flight is going to arrive. You will have to reach the

Airport before the plane comes. After that a cutscene follows in which you take RAN Fa Li & his assistant in a LIMO.then CJ discovers that it is a ambush and both the exit of the airport has been blocked by Linerunners by the mafia.

You will have to somehow get the VIP to the TRIAD Casino while the mafia will attack you. There will be a LIMO Damage bar shown too.

After that mission "FISH IN A BARREL" will be unlocked..

Can someone knows about some more removed missions ?? icon14.gificon14.gif

Take the VIP back to the Triad Casino.Oh sh*t its an ambush!sh*t its the Mafia! step on it follow the front car!~z~(Grunt)~z~You better get a move on, Ran Fa Li's flight gets in any minute!

These are only some of the few..

@Ashwin

I had few mins to look on how game attaches upgrades (spoilers, bumpers etc.) to vehicles.

Btw, found another "uncutted" feature from VC (CStats::CrimeCommited):

if((ped1->ped.physical.entity.type & 7) != TYPE_PED || !IsPedValid(ped1) || CPed::GetWantedLevel(ped2) || !(ped1->field_46C & 0x800000)) // IS_WANTED   goto LABEL_16;v4 = ped1->field_530;if(v4 != 54 && v4 != 55){   text = CText::Locate("GOODBOY");   showStyledText(text, 5000, 0);   players[currentPlayer].money += 50;}

Yeah, but to activate it requires patching in a different place. I did it for VJ, but I don't have the code at hand.

Bad.boy!

I know it has nothing to do with III-era coding, but could anyone who has VS installed compile this? There's nothing wrong with the code, so I guess that it's a bug of VS 2012 RC. It's just a console window in C, link.

EDIT: and upload it somewhere

EDIT2: Solved, for some reason visual studio really hates the word offset. I've tried changing it to Offset and OfFseT but that didn't work either, so now it's ofs.

While carrying a Colt, shoot without aiming, and as the bullet comes out, press jump and perform any fancy animation, the player will keep pointing the guns forward for a while whatever happens, too bad you can't really shoot in this moment...

I apologize for bumping.

Not sure where to post, here is a dump of useful information about GTA3 Script Compiler V431. I'll update the SCM Language documentation soon.

I do not have to decide anything at the moment, I'll contact Luten when I'll be free. By the way, wait for my reply in the meantime. icon14.gif
