Guest
I like the neighbourhood where Mikhail Faustin lives. It feels quaint and very peaceful and I like to take a walk there and admire the mansions and the general scenery. Everytime I go to receive missions from Faustin I make sure to fully take in the view of the ocean nearby. Another reason I keep coming to this area is to steal the various high end cars haha. Agreed. I like how it's a pretty, suburban, rich, gated neighborhood but you know at least some of the people who live there got rich from organised crime and there's dangerous gang members on the streets. It gives it a unique feeling. I always feel compelled to look up the real areas each place is based on. Just checked out the area Beachgate is based on, Sea Gate in Brooklyn, and seems like a pretty good representation (perhaps minus the Russian mafia lol): Edited June 19, 2020 by billiejoearmstrong8

Another reason being the fact that sometimes you start off a Cops ‘n Crooks round there. Love the battle in the area around there if you don’t automatically rush for the getaway vehicle.
Tacymist 12,969
12 years later and it still looks stunning! It's one of my favorite cities in the series because of how authentic it felt. Liberty City is gorgeous and I love all the detail that R* put into it., you can tell they put a lot of love into their work. I said this before about this city but LC felt just as much a part of the cast as Niko or Roman. So full of life and action with so much to offer. Anyway got some screenshots I'm gonna spam: Spoiler
Red_hot_redemption 53
I do like comparing firefly island in GTA IV to Coney Island in Rockstar's The Warriors, I've noticed a few landmarks which obviously aren't named correctly but modeled after real life locations, like the building with the Firefly neon lights in GTA is the shore theater in Coney island, the famous Nathan's hot dog is Johnsons (nice gag) in GTA, both of which are found in the warriors, along with the Cyclone rollercoaster, named screamer in GTA, obviously there is the Wonder Wheel named Liberty Eye, but the most obscure reference is the old Coney Island Bank, which in the Warriors was used as Twiggys store (the hippy) which is also present in GTA, tucked away in the theme park. It shows the research the developers went to in researching the area. I do wish that GTA IV's Coney Island had an accurate Coney Island Creek, an old filthy waterway filled with junk, rotting abandoned industrial machinery, abandoned cars, and the decaying skeletons of old boats. I think it would be perfect for the gritty feel IV goes for and a great setting for some missions.

Yeah, that would pretty much be my dream, a city littered with the burnt out abandoned buildings, burst fire hydrants, litter blowing in streets, pimps and drug dealers, gangs, graffiti, old checkers cabbies and the blue police cars. Probably why broker was my favourite area of GTA IV, I think it has a very 70's vibe to it, especially around where Brucie auto place is. With some old cars driving around at night it has a very French Connection feel to it
billiejoearmstrong8 5,519
I would also love that. But even if we never get it I do already appreciate how IV's Liberty City really brought that gritty vibe. It's set in the 2000s but it borrows from the 90s and earlier in a lot of ways in terms of how dangerous, run down and corrupt things are. You can almost get that 70s New York vibe at times. Guest
The Commission was also at their peak in LC during the 70s so I'd imagine we'd get an awesome story in that setting 5 minutes ago, billiejoearmstrong8 said: I would also love that. I kinda get that 70s vibe from TLaD tbh. Or at least I get a past setting like vibe from it. Compare that to the more hip and modern-ish version of LC in TBoGT, it's really amazing how 3 different renditions of the same city managed to portray 3 different atmospheres. Makes Liberty City feel multi dimensional @Tacymist those black and white pics of Liberty City are cool af. Never seen Liberty City that way before, don't know the exact word for it but I'll settle with magnificent
