I've been hanging around North Alderney a lot lately and I'm beginning to start feeling attached to West Dyke. I really like the residential feel and being near the coast.

 

The kind of place I could see myself living. What's the NJ equivalent btw?

Westdyke reminds me of a nice, old late 1800's neighborhood south of Greenwich, CT. The cliffs and deserted beached north of Westdyke are based off of something in real life near New York. I remember seeing them in a documentary about New York.

 

I've always liked Westdyke. My favorite house is the yellow one right across from the red brick mansion. I do have my gripes with this neighborhood though. I wish it was bigger and I wish there was more forestry just north of the community with more winding roads.

Not exactly, I'd say the only influence Jersey City has in Alderney is within Alderney City, and even then it still isn't much but the namesake and a few buildings. The rest of AC is basically downtown Newark in a nutshell.

Those are some utterly beautiful ideas!

 

I'm just going to list what I'd like from a NY/NJ based map in the future:

- Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, Newark, and Staten Island of course. The size of these areas could be just a few square miles bigger than the IV rendition of Liberty City and Alderney City for all I care, I'd just want absolutely stunning details and layouts to differentiate itself from anything from the past.

- Long Island with a lot of beaches, beach houses, resorts, and a few colonial towns. Add some fun roads too with some really tall trees.

- The surrounding countryside including a few colonial towns, lots of tall greenery, lots of hills, the Catskill Mountains, and a sh*t load of fun winding roads (They'd only be enjoyable with IV's type of physics to be honest).

- More suburbs of course but I'd like a town to the north that recreates Greenwich, Connecticut. That place is f*cking rich, like swimming in money rich. It would be cool to explore such a lovely place. I'd love to live there.

God, I love Algonquin. Killing the pigeons under the duress of a six star wanted level has made me appreciate the island even more. It is unbelievably satisfying to slip down an alleyway to avoid being spotted by a squad car, ducking into the subway to snag a medkit, taking a detour into Middle Park to eat a hotdog, or taking the stairs up to the rooftop of a building to get a shot at a pigeon that you couldn't get from ground level and then fighting your way back down.

 

I might try and collect the letter scraps and UFO parts in V with a 5 star wanted level to see if I can get a similar feeling for Los Santos and Blane County, but I doubt that'll happen. Liberty City as a whole is genetically superior if you ask me.

As much as I like GTA IV's rendition of LC I'm not ready for them to set it in LC again even though they could possibly add other locations around that area. I think at some point in a future GTA game perhaps 20 years from now (if GTA is still around) then sure go back to LC and that area and expand on what GTA IV did with it, but as of right now R* have a number of cities they could create that would work more than well enough.

I remember playing gta iii and hoping that one day they would remake Liberty City in the years to come, with better graphics. Then IV came out. It's still my favourite gta game, and I don't think there will ever be one like it again. Unless R* stop trying to appeal to the little 12 year olds and make something with the right mix of seriousness and comedy.

As a rough figure yes. Lets say the remake San Fierro, Las Venturas and Vice City and each game take 5 years to make thats 15 years plus another 5 years for making Liberty City and it's surrounding areas that's 20 years.

I like to climb to the top of a crane in Bohan after starting a havoc and shooting police heli's at 3-star wanted level from there.

After 6 years for me anyway, is listening to the opening credits of GTA IV roll, with the night time atmosphere, and Liberty City comes into view in the nightlife of what will lie ahead for Niko Bellic has he starts a new life in a new city. And that sense of uncertainty of how the story will evolve the first time round( still after 6 years I still get that kind of feeling) of playing the game.

 

And another thing about the IV's theme. To me it sounds like a dark and gritty story time book that is about to be read to the players who starts the game and watches the intro roll until you narrate the story of how you want to play and read IV's story. That is why IV to me, no matter what other games there is that is similar to IV or the GTA franchise, will always be memorable for many years. Same with III, VC, SA, LCS, VCS, TLaD and TBoGT.

Really like the bumpy long roads in Bohan that intersect with each other. Plenty of back alley activity and ped diversity in that area.

I haven't played IV for a while but Liberty City remains my virtual home for video games and the reason is that the gritty and dark atmosphere of LC made me fell in love with it especially when I first played GTA IV that when Niko first arrived in Liberty City I already felt that realism that R* did for this incarnation of Liberty City.

 

Even if Los Santos have the mansions,beaches,country clubs,and all of its glitz and glamour are proven to be a parody of LA but it felt superficial and it lacked something that Liberty City had which is immersion. I grew tired a little bit of Los Santos and I returned to play IV and started a new game and it feels like you are fresh off the boat and I hope that Liberty City would return in later installments of the GTA series.

So yesterday night, StingrayX has inspired me to take a cruise in LC just like he did on the previous page. Instead of causing havoc, just start obeying traffic laws and stuff.

 

So I got out of Roman's Apartment. In my current playthrough I am still early in the game and haven't unlocked Algonquin/Alderney so I decided to go to Francis international Airport.

 

It was 21:00 if I recall correctly as I stepped into my white Huntley Sport parked in the car park outside the Apartment and it is so far my favorite car in the game. Perfect for a nice drive.

 

So I got out and drove with the help of the GPS indicator. It felt immersive just like how a city feels at night. I enjoyed cruising along at high speeds on the Expressway and then arrived at the airport. It was a bit more crowded here so it took a while to go park up my car at the car park.

 

After doing that I walked up to the train station close by and I was once again amazed. There were less peds here at night just like in a real city. I got up to the station and for some reason I love this place. I enjoyed the views of the Airport which in my eyes looked exactly like a real-life airport. There were lots of trees and barely an buildings. People say "Oh this airport is a waste of space without planes" but I beg to differ. This is a game for people who enjoy looking at the attention to detail and this Airport is another example of it.

 

After I had looked my fill I went back down to the car park and got in my Huntley sport. I decided to visit the docks in East Hook. A must visit for me in any cruise around LC just for the spectacular views of Algonquin.

 

As I drove there I had to drive through BOABO. BOABO is a very intriguing place in my opinion. In the day I barely see any people and at night it's even lower. I could see a lot of parked cars as well. I think it's an interesting place, it's low-lying and lowly populated but still interesing to look at. People say "Oh this game does not have any diversity" but again I beg to differ. This is a game that is for people who love attention to detail and a lot of people sadly can't appreciate it.

 

So I went over to East Hook, parked at the Docks and I got out and took in the breathtaking view of the Algonquin skyline. This was at night mind you and it looked even better. It was just magnificent.

 

After I had looked my fill I got back into my Huntley sport and drove out of East Hook thinking of going back home. The sun was rising now and just as the thought occured Roman called and asked if we could go eat. I agreed so I went pick him up. It took a surprisingly short time, we dined at 49th street diner and I dropped Roman back at his place.

 

Tired but happy I drove over to the Apartment and parked my car there. It was morning now and I went inside and saved my game thus giving Niko some well deserved rest.

 

This was a truly magnificent and immersive experience and I suggest everyone to do this. Massive thanks to StingrayX for inspiring me to do this.

[Gnocchi Flip Flops]

I took a sleek, black Russian Schafter out for a tranquil drive around Algonquin on Monday. In Lower Algonquin, I parked near Perseus on one of those alluring cobblestone roads in order to pick up a nice suit (w/ a floral undershirt). After that, I just simply cruised around Algonquin in a civil manner, listening to the Vibe and the Schafter's awesome, raspy soundtrack.

 

Liberty City just never gets old. I did focus more on my car that day but often it was difficult to not focus on some of the city's mesmerizing details. Graphically the game is still aging, but the immense detail still intrigues me. I easily get immersed into this city, especially Lower Algonquin. I could just imagine the views that those modern glass condominiums and age-old Suffolk flats have to offer. But it gets me mad too. Why couldn't we purchase properties dotted around the map? With so much detail, it would've been priceless to explore unique views and a lot more interiors. But I still love LC, even with it's missed opportunities.

 

I entered The Exchange in Lower Algonquin again and had some fun admiring the many towering business buildings and the intriguing architectural detail that they offered at ground level. The area is always shaded and dark but I love it because of that. It feels like the real thing. I wasn't afraid to hit the gas a little with my über-powerful Schafter, just to hear it's thick, raspy exhaust note echo off many of the buildings. Exploring Algonquin in this car was simply amazing.

I like the view near Mikhail Faustin's house.Just feels good standing there and staring into the water.(Though I try to sit by using the crouch button, but it just looks like he is 'sh*tting' .So I just stand there and try to feel the cool wind).

Mikhail's house is nicely located, I agree. It feels so calm and peaceful to hear the waves crashing against the nearby cliffs or to look out towards the sea and the Algonquin skyline.

 

That is should've been given to Niko after Mikhail died. I read somewhere that his troublwd wife had to sell it anyways.

Thats right. I never really liked the place, but in this gameplay, im lovin it. It is surely a nice contrast from bohan and broker/dukes. It is lovely to cruise around little italy and chinatown.

I feel like playing through the storyline is what really immerses you deep into the setting. I know that feeling, and I love it. That's why I replay IV every summer. Summer is almost here and I can't wait!
