The story is too "dark" and "depressing" is what I can gather.

I have never achieved 100% in IV. I have finished the story twice, but exploring and roaming around messing with physics and car deformation always amuse me. Last night i decided to explore Happiness Island. I have spent 2 hours just boating and exploring harbour areas and shores. Then i took a chopper. Then i had a little shootout with cops. Then i took Kiki out. Havent explored Happiness Island. This game has so much to do, i cant really focus on one single objective.

Yeah, see, I stay focused...Sometimes over focused and only work on one thing at a time. 100% and vehicle collection have priority to dicking around. So I finish that before exploring and things like that.

I am currently 63.70% Completion with 7 out of the 10 vehicles I want for my collection and with perfect stats, other than 2 mission failures for when I obtained the Laundromat and Police Stockade. Today was the 9th day playing. I reckon tomorrow, day 10, I will be OVER 70% Completion with 9 out of 10 of the vehicles on my list I want to obtain. So it's going quite quickly. My stats say only 24 hours and 45 minutes of playing.

This is why I don't see why people think the game is "long" or boring. It's not, really. It's more or less than same time length as the other games. GTA III took me only 7-8 days. SA took 5 weeks, the longest. So GTA IV fits right into the middle of the shortest time length for 100% and the longest time length for 100%. Probably 2 and a half to 3 weeks is all I need at the max. This is why I asked as to why people can't complete this game...It's amazing and nothing is wrong with the story and getting the game complete. It's simple...

I have never really fully completed IV nor the Episodes 100%, yet I can never get enough laughter and fun just by going on rampages, car chases, shootouts with gangs or the police, relax driving around LC and taking in all of the sights and landmarks, taking a stroll in Star Junction or Alderney, or any other suburb of LC, buying food or a drink from the Food/Drink Vendors dotted around LC.

LC nor the story of IV + EFLC is never really focused on one particular thing or objective to do, and I don't get that sense of being forced, even a sense of subtle hints to complete things just to unlock a certain item or car, which I used to get whilst playing V for some reason. In IV, the only thing you had to unlock, was by story progression to unlock the Islands. Sure you had to progress, but at the same time you can just mess around and spend hours in a very much less restrictive Multiplayer with others to kill spare time after a busy day.

Playing IV's + EFLC Multiplayer, with soundtrack that all games have, whilst racing around LC on freemode or GTA Race, and just watch the hours go by.

Do lots of gamers do that now on IV + EFLC? Always wondered after V has been released for nearly a year.

^^^^ I never play Online in any game. But if you're talking about going backward in time with GTA Games, I do this, yes. I recently went back and did another playthrough in GTA III, VC, SA, LCS, VCS, and now GTA IV. I already did TLaD/TBoGT in March, before the 5 3D Era games, and now finishing IV in the coming week or so. So all 8 games will be perfect then, and just the 9th game, GTA V, I will work on when all the Patches/DLC's stop and I can enjoy the FULL game.

I liked III, VC, SA, LCS, VCS, IV, TLaD, TBoGT more or less all the same in one way or another, but V is my weakest game by far. I hope when I re-do GTA V this Winter it'll be fun again, or I can notice stuff I missed the first time around going for 100%, etc...

Amazing things continue to happen in this amazing city. Yesterday, I picked up a fight with a nurse in the Hosptial in Schotller, another guy joined in with me in the fight, she ran and the two of us ran behind her. We ran for a while until I tripped her and the other dude caught up with her. He threw a few punches at her, I was watching the fight but a policeman was watching it too. The police man knew who started the fight so he asked the man to put his hands in the air and get in the cop car.

Amazing.

Oh, the cop decided to use his OWN police vehicle and not a vehicle you have saved?

They steal my vehicles a lot actually. f*cking sneaky fat pigs...

This reminds me...

Although it's not the same sort of scenario as this the other day I saw a random fist fight after a fender bender in Algonquin and it was between a female and male ped. She kicked his ass lol.

Seriously I've never seen a female ped fight like that before.

Lc is a better place than Ls. The peds and the immersive city make it feel like a place I would love to live in if I could. Also I am new to the forums and I love GTA 4

Being in NYC right now, as I have for every summer and winter since 2000, LC is an absolutely incredible remake of the real NYC. Everything feels so real and very believable tot he real thing as it has for 6 years. It is truly a masterpiece to get a city to feel like that especially that long ago. R* made LC and LS very real to their actual counterparts in both games.

AFAIK they only steal other vehicle when their own car is wrecked.

Once, some ped decided to punch me, right when a cop is patrolling. The cop got no vehicle, and as he arrest the ped, he called for another cop (in a car) to take him.

This could be true, but it's not the full story of why they do this. I've seen cops the moment I load my game and go down the stairs and out the door, to find one running after a ped and getting into my Enforcer or Comet and driving away chasing the ped on foot. It happens a lot when I hear "Suspect is on foot!" When this happens, I just reload. Don't feel like doing a mission and coming back to see a vehicle stolen and gotta re-do the mission and reload, etc. So if I see or hear cops around, I just reload. It also sucks that when I need to jack a vehicle, I need to run a good distance away from my safehouse to do it just so in case if I do get a 1 star, I'll be too far away from my safehouse for the cops to NOT steal my vehicles.

Just for future reference, you don't want to make a giant quote train or more than likely a mod or someone who can edit the topics is gonna get annoyed and remove half of the quote for you in your posts. Don't hit "quote" to reply, just hit reply and then post. LOL

So I am now 79.75% Completion into GTA IV and I also finished the story today. In the beginning, the driving felt strange for me, but now 12 days into playing, I think GTA IV is the best driving in any GTA game yet! It's very easy once you practice with the missions and driving everywhere a bit, but I got used to it pretty quickly. I didn't find the story or missions to be very boring and for the most, a lot of them were pretty cool. There was a lot of variation, however, toward the end it started to get "tedious" and run out of steam, but overall it was acceptable.

Now I am gonna do 16 Random Character Missions, 30 Stevie Car Thefts, 9 Fixers Assassinations Missions, Most Wanted, Vigilante, Beat the High Score in Cubed, 50 Stunt Jumps, and 200 Pigeons and I am 100%. LOL, a lot of work just for 20.25% more of the game, imo...

Too bad its PS3's Platinum Trophy is unobtainable now.

Lethal Vaccine

Honestly, I don't even think Trophies exist. I go at these games, the same way I go at GTA III, VC, SA, LCS, and VCS. They never existed in the 3D Era, so I just pretend they don't exist in the HD Era. I never was into Trophies in IV, TLaD, TBoGT, or V. If I get one, I get one, if not, I don't. It's not a big deal. However, speaking of trophies....Since I was 79.75% Completion when I finished the story, meaning I did some of the side stuff whilst doing the story missions, which ultimately made my total playing time increase, I did NOT get the Liberty City Minute Man Trophy for completing the story in UNDER 30 hours. I was 45 minutes too late...I finished in 30:45. But like I said, I don't care for Trophies...The story is only 60% of the game. If I wanted to truck through that without even thinking about anything else or hanging out with any of the characters, I could of done it UNDER 20 hours, let alone 30. The story wasn't hard, nor was it long. I just feel like switching things up a lot and not just over focus on the story. I did the entire story, 10 Drug Deliveries for Little Jacob, 9 Street Races, 10 Brucie Exotic Exports, won a full game at Bowling, Won Darts, Pool, and did every character activity for Brucie, Little Jacob, and Packie. All of this gave me that extra 19.75% Completion which I was doing whilist doing the story. So this is why I never got the Liberty City Minute Man Trophy for beating the story in under 30 hours, I was too busy trying to finish the game as a whole instead of one thing at a time. Either way, today is day 13 of playing this game from scratch and I will be 84.75% Completion after today once I finish the 16 Random Character Missions. So I am OVER 4/5 done with GTA IV in LESS than 2 whole weeks. However, it'll probably take yet another week to get to 100% cuz those Stunt Jumps and Pigeons I know are gonna be time consuming.

I'm a man who doesn't waste any time in regards to a game's storyline. But I can only get 18 hours on story in GTA IV (18:10:xx PS3, 18:43:xx PC). I completed V in like, 9 hours. You might wanna check the in-game website Whattheydonotwantyoutoknow.com in regards to collectibles.

Lethal Vaccine

I am the "opposite" kinda....I am a man who never wastes time in regards to 100% Completion. The story is only about half the game in the HD Era, and for the 3D Games, sometimes 100% Completion is BELOW half the entire game. LCS for instance is 40% Story and 60% Side things. VCS is 20% Story and 80% Side stuff. So when it comes to the story, including EVERYTHING else the game has to offer, I try to get as much side stuff done as I can while slowing doing the story. And when it comes to games like GTA III, you are not gonna wait until the Leones start hating you to do Paramedics Level 12 in Portland, for example. In fact, when it came to III, VC, SA, LCS, and VCS, I did all the side stuff I could do before starting the first mission...I like having everything out of the way before thinking of the story and collecting vehicles, tbh...

Well, when it comes to collectables, I just use Youtube, tbh. I've used Youtube for 100 Hidden Packages in III, VC, 250 Collectables in SA, 100 Hidden Packages in LCS, and 99 Red Balloons in VCS. I will be using Youtube also for the 200 Pigeons in IV and I've already used Youtube for the 50 Sea Gulls in TLaD and TBoGT. V will be no different, I will always use Youtube when it comes to these things.

I've been exploring LC and I starting to notice how boring LS is. Why did rockstar have to fill LS with hipster pricks the PEDs of gta 4 are a lot better and actually do stuff besides playing on their phone

You should use a snow mod to make the winter clothing usefull. No I'm not a pc gamer I play on Xbox 360

I was about to download it a while ago. It's 3 gigs, yet it took almost 10 minutes to download 1 MB and I realized, the server was so slow that it's not worth my time. It looks cool though, I always wanted a GTA set in winter with snowfall.

Inb4 "GTA Online got snow............for 1 day"

The Harwood Bitcher
