MrYoungGun
If you've been playing max payne 3's multiplayer, you probably know it has been a disappointment in terms of Rockstar standards. Multiple bugs, connection errors, the social club crews sloppyness, but over the last two weeks, they have gone silent. No updates on dlc, no news of much needed repairs to the crews leader boards and stat tracking, not to mention the Payne thresholds had a weekly topic on the newswire, but haven't recently even though they don't work properly. Is all this neglect due to an "all hands on deck" request by Rockstar to get the employees ready for the big news? I don't know much about this stuff, so feel free to set me straight! FrankieP
I don't know much about this stuff, so feel free to set me straight! Gay is not the way ! There, I met your demands. Now back on-topic : It might be. Perhaps they'll give us some GTA V info and then release the DLC they are planning on releasing.
Johan
They know their game failed and the more they do this the more it doesn't fix anything, but they're waiting for the next DLC next month to stop talking about the game, at least daily (I doubt they'll ever stop talking about it seeing as how they still mention RDR and IV)
Andreas
I think the sales of Max Payne 3 would have been better if Rockstar would've decided to release some little info to GTA V during the months of absolutely nothing (info drought). Because with this way more fans would have seen Max Payne 3 and so more people would have bought the game. The sales still wouldn't be groundbreaking but I think Rockstar could've reached the 300 million dollar until the end of the fiscal year which was corrected down on the last conference call to 250 million dollar. GR7
It's a bit sad isin't it? MP3's multiplayer had the potential to be the next big thing but they made some very stupid descisions, like having a RPG as a primary weapon so now every game is a RPG spam-fest which causes the game to crash frequently. Another huge mistake was splitting the player base into free aim and soft lock when they knew the majority would take the easy way out and not budge from soft-lock section. What they should have done was make soft-lock strictly for beginners and after level 20 boot them into free aim. The game really becomes fun in free aim it's a shame no one wants to be challenged. BillPatt
Could be, but I don't think they would have every R* branch working on it. I'm sure they still have a team dedicated to MP3.
wwinterj
I don't think it's GTA V related as it's two different teams who deal with Max Payne 3 and GTA V. Just the same as any Max Payne 3 news isn't making R* hold back on GTA V news. You can make up conspiracy theories though if it helps.

MP3's multiplayer had the potential to be the next big thing but they made some very stupid descisions, like having a RPG as a primary weapon so now every game is a RPG spam-fest I thought Killzone was the only game (although It's a secondary that needed a few points to unlock) used all the time by cheap high ranking players. Guess MP3 failed hard. Let's hope V's MP stays similar to IV's.

The last gang wars I played literally had 2 minutes of continuous explosions it was a symphony of RPGs, genades and grenade launchers . I don't know what R* and the guys that made Killzone were thinking.
Zee
Maybe if they had released GTA5 first instead like everyone in the entire world wanted. they wouldnt have had to abandon max payne 3s multi to forever be a rushed, broken lagged out sh*tfest. Zero out of five stars.

You say this as if you think they have learned their lesson and gtaV well feature only one aim mode. Somehow i don't think that will be the case. What Rockstar needs to do is give players extra incentives and rewards for playing free aim or the hardest level of difficulty. Grinds and challenges that can be completed only by using free aim, hell make the golden guns available by getting 500 free aim headshots, on 500 different players, taking out boosting in the process. That's a very good solution, but the problem is GTAV's multiplayer will be extremely active so dividing the player base will not be an issue to them until free aim numbers start dropping off a year or 2 later at which point I fear they won't care anymore @Zee Of course they will reuse aspects of the gunplay from MP3, they would be stupid to put all that effort into finally making good shooting mechanics just to use it for one game and then throw it all away. That being said I doubt we'll be diving out of our cars in slow-mo and to be honest I would prefer if bullet time stayed unique to the MP franchise. Johnny Playert
Maybe it's just because MP's mp isn't getting that much traffic anymore. I don't know, i played it like twice, it was fun but also glitchy. I remember playing it for the first time and i kept shooting everyone but no-one died, even though their bars were empty. Like, DAFUQ?? But Max Payne 3 is one hell of a game single player. Loved it. Played through it like 4 times already. But hey R*, it's very simple. Just keep the info coming for a change. Don't spoil too much about it but WTH isn't it time for another trailer yet??? You know we love sh*t like that. Come on already... But uhhh, to address your point... no i don't think so. MP3 'news' would still come if there's GTA news or not.
Freezer89
Yeah, the addition of multiplayer in Max Payne 3 was kinda useless.. I never played for more than five hours. Was really fun at first, but it fades quickly. Meanwhile the single player (story and arcade mode) are just great. GTA V obviously should focus more on single player.. but they also need to improve the MP.
MrYoungGun
You're probably right. I played rdr on hardcore which was never comparable to the size of the normal aim crowds, but its still possible to find a gang match in hardcore over two years later. mp3's hc/fa community is so small I've adjusted to playing with soft lock just to be able to play in full rooms. The other polarizing factor to their games is the dlc. Everytime they introduce new maps they die so quickly, they need to give more incentives to play them as well. Its all in the rewards really, people want proverbial trophies for their hard work,- titles, golden guns, unlockables, whatever they can pack in will keep people grinding for them. Yeah DLC is the killer of multiplayer games unless that game is very popular. The only way I could see DLC working for a game Like MP3 was if they did something similar to Halo and made the maps free after some time lets say after 2 months or so, that way the hardcore fans could get a good grasp of the maps and eventually the all players would be allowed to play the maps after waiting a reasonable amount of time. MIKON8ERISBACK
At least now we know that they won't bother with a sequel and they can focus more manpower on Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead. I'm not happy about the financial losses of decent and hard working people, but this is what happens when you confirm a very highly anticipated game and then focus on developing and promoting a much less anticipated game belong to a much less popular franchise. Kwazdog
I've noticed more cheaters and other idiosyncracies as of late. Like people that can't die and one player that seemed to have a "targeting repelant" of sorts.

Jewstinian
Max Payne 3 is an amazing game, in my opinion, and I seriously hope they do pay attention to both games equally.
FisFis
Seeing how the Crew system will carry over to GTAV, I hope they learn from their current faults and deliver to us a multiplayer in GTAV free of the connection errors we currently face in MP3. I swear if I stayed up to 4 hours online on MP3 know that 3 hours were loading screens. This has to be addressed. GTAV will naturally have much more traffic and pressure, they better prepare for it. grandola
Load time when entering a session or when you're dead and waiting to reapawn are the only issues I have with MP3 multiplayer. I think when people quit during a match or sometimes even in gang wars when its changing match type I also get a serious lag. I wish they would fix this. The good news is I can play good two hours without issue when I'm already in a room and connected. This MP3 multiplayer game is mad fun for a shooter. But as what happened with MW2 and MW3. Multiplayer shooters, for me anyways, get repetitive rel quick. I want to do more than just shoot other players. That's why I love RDR multiplayer. SO MUCH you can do! SP for MP3 is fun too. To call this game a flop on sales figures can be considered reasonable. However, as towards the game itself, I give it an 9 and the content of the game is NOT A FLOP.
