Choco Taco
How would the map be set up if Mexico is in the game? Islands? What are the boundaries? Landlock? Mexican military no fly zone? Would LA or Mexico be bigger?

Algonquin Assassin
While I suggested this idea before, I doubt it will happen as they've already done this in RDR. People would criticize them for lack of ideas. But there will undoubtedly be a lot of Mexicans the more South you go... Why? Modern day Mexico is a lot different than it was back in the early 1900s. How many sandbox games can you name set in modern Mexico? Anyway I doubt it, but I bet there'll be heaps of references to the border wars and whatnot. John The Grudge
Honestly I think Mexican gangs are too violent to feature in a GTA game. Would there be side missions where you chainsaw people's heads off, or maybe one where you charge innocent people to take them across the border but instead just murder them and dump their mutilated corpses on the side of the road? I think it would ruin the tone of the game. Plus it's just a horrible idea. Also, let's not forget - let's NOT forget - Dude, that keeping wildlife, an amphibious rodent, for uh, domestic, you know, within the city - that aint legal either. Would LA or Mexico be bigger? In my opinion only one city in mexico would be neated, and one border crossing. You should be able to drive across the border or fly on a commuter flight form airport to airport. If you tried to fly yourself you should be intercepted by an airforce. With all of the military installations in and around san diego and the mexican border being so close it really seems like a prime city for GTA V

I can think of about half a dozen missions all about procuring tunneling tools, and a cause havoc mission to serve as a diversion for when the bob cat or other form of ride on digging tool was brought to the tunneling site

Freezer89
Yeah, but in this case it's really legit How about this source then: http://geography.about.com/cs/politicalgeo...statenation.htm There it's being explained very well.. "There are currently 196 independent countries or States around the world." So both terms states and countries are correct.. no need for change of the title, just because country seems to be more appropriate. But to be honest I would call it countries, too.. it can be confusing, especially for US citizens.

I'm not trolling. Mexican organised gangs are incredibly violent. Call me a wuss but I just don't want gangs associated with such extremes in a GTA game. I accept that one can commit heinous crimes in GTA IV but at it's core it's a light hearted game. The violence associated with these gangs is no joke. I just don't think it's a good fit. I know there's way more to Mexico than that but it wasn't suggested as a tourist spot, it was suggested for drug related missions. John The Grudge
It could be argued that "state" is more often used than "country". Calling New York, for example, a state isn't strictly correct in present day USA. A state is a country.

Lance Wilson
i always thought this. if you look at the mountains around armadillo its like the ones in the oil pump picture from the V trailer. only thing is the beaches of los santos rule it out from being the same land mass. would be amazing to hear stories of a fictional john marston from a random drunk in a bar in the desert though. at this point i really don't know what other cities/towns/areas are gonna be included

aj10101
the difference between state and country is like the directed between metropolis and huge city. both are correct, one is more correct. also confusing the issue is that usa calls their biggest regions states where the rest of the world calls them provinces. this is a gta game, rockstar will never shy away from something controversial. Mexican drug cartels are all over the news for the crazy sh*t they do like murdering chief of puce and taking over his entire town until the Mexican military show up to take it back. i for one will be very disappointed if there are no Mexican gangs in a so cal game Edited September 18, 2012 by aj10101

Tommy34
Idea with border missions is good. As somebody already said Mexico border is closer to LA than both San Fran and Vegas. However it is difficult to conclude from any info on GTA V that they will be including them. Official info stated only "city of Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches." They did say this will be "the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created." I believe that means no crossing border to Mexico. The border missions from the US side maybe but unlikely. I kinda see your point, but no gangs are a joke, GTA still parodies them, besides which the violence could be toned down, not everything has to be an exact portrayal of it's real life counterpart. I just don't think it's a good fit. I know there's way more to Mexico than that but it wasn't suggested as a tourist spot, it was suggested for drug related missions. I think Mexicans would be very offended if that were to be in the game. I don't see why Mexicans would be offended, there are hundreds of movies about the Mexican Drug industry -No country for old men, case in point. Also gta haS portrayed multiple cities as festering pits of crime, people in those cities weren't offended.
PutAQuarterIn
Yeah, but in this case it's really legit How about this source then: http://geography.about.com/cs/politicalgeo...statenation.htm There it's being explained very well.. "There are currently 196 independent countries or States around the world." So both terms states and countries are correct.. no need for change of the title, just because country seems to be more appropriate. But to be honest I would call it countries, too.. it can be confusing, especially for US citizens. It just seems confusing to us Americans to call another country a state since we call ourselves the United STATES of America. What we commonly call state is closer to what others call a providence (not completely the same thing, but in this arguments sake, still a small governed area within a larger governed area.) So for us to call Mexico a state (especially when discussing an American state like California in this conversation) feels like someones trying to incorrectly imply it's a part of ''the states''....even though that not what you are trying to imply at all. It just reads that way when your conditioned to think of a state as a smaller part of a country. In summary, it's a perspective thing. It's correct but it feels so wrong for some of us to call it that. OT: I hope the border makes it in the game, but as long as the map is huge and filled with variety I'll be fine. If it's a limited resource thing then my feelings won't be hurt by it's absence. Rather Mexico itself is there or not, Mexican cartels are a must! It wouldn't be present day SoCal without them. Sorry about the rambling. Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents
