GTA V on Wii U?

Nintendo would never stop GTA and say it's too violent. That is ridiculous. You might as well say that Sony and Microsoft think it's too violent.

Ok well something/someone is stopping it from happening.

Technology did.

GameCube - Space Limitations, the discs could only hold 1.5GB of Data, they could have maybe got GTA3 on it at the time but they couldn't do Vice City or San Andreas, only NOW would they possibly be able to do Vice City on it thanks to advanced compression.

Wii - Power Limitations, at a time when Rockstar are pushing RAGE, the Wii just didn't have the power to do so, that's why it got games from the PS2 era instead such as Manhunt 2 and Bully.

Also, Sales did to.

Gameboy - Rockstar did GTA Advance and it didn't sell well.

DS - Rockstar Leeds did Chinatown Wars which again only sold decently but still very bad for a GTA game, especially when compared to the sales of Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories on the PSP, but even then, Chinatown Wars sold worse on the PSP when it was ported to that, the only place the game is doing well is on the iPhone.

throw in Technology again, the design of the Wii was different to the other consoles, but now the Wii U has been designed to be more and similar, such as it's more akin to the Xbox 360 design with all the benefits of the PS3 design. I'll say it again, for at least a year, the Wii U will be the most powerful Games Console around, and developers have already spoke about how easy it was to get Xbox 360 code running on the platform.

Very mouch doubt it, the hardware is not so good(below ps3)and as i've read, its very hard to program on the Wii platform.

Also, Wii only supports CDs lol

I really hope you are joking. No Nintendo console has ever used CDs. The first disc console (GameCube) used a 1.4GB mini-DVD (with data written backwards) called the Nintendo GameCube Game Disc. The Wii, likewise, used a full sized 4.7GB and 8.54GB DVD called the Wii Optical Disc. Wii U is following this same path and using a 25GB (at launch) Blu-ray Disc called the Wii U Optical Disc.

The only reason they don't used the regular format of disc is to avoid paying licencing fees to the DVD Forum and to speed up loading times.

In the UK the WiiU is £250 for the basic package. I imagine if you want a game and a real controller with that you'd be looking at over £300. Just a quick look on Amazon shows that I could buy a 250GB XBox 360 for £177.99, or the 4GB version for £148.29.

What do you mean by a "real" controller? The Wii U GamePad has all the buttons and features of a traditional controller, plus a whole bunch of extra inputs and features. Since when has it been the case that adding new inputs and features stops a controller being a "real" controller? By your logic, does this mean the only "real" controller is the Atari 2600 joystick?

Adding a Dpad - Not a real controller?

Adding shoulder buttons - Not a real controller

Analogue sticks - Not a real controller?

Sixaxis - Not a real controller?

Rumble - Not a real controller?

I hate it when retards can't see past their own irrational hatred for a gaming company. It's really quite pathetic. I suggest you take a long, hard look at your life.

It's another gimmick based design that hardcore gamers mostly won't care about.

He's obviously referring to a traditional game pad without the screen.

It would cost £325 for the Zombie U edition that also includes the pro controller.

This is what I prefer. I just hope it's compatible with most games. Unlike the pad they had for the Wii that got almost zero support.

You mean the classic controller which was designed almost exclusively for the virtual console support? Or the Gamecube controller which a ton of games supported?

Tennis for Two is better than GTA V.

Wasn't aware of that but yes that's what I'm talking about. Point is I don't want to be forced to use the screen controller like I was forced to use the Wii Remote.

I'm surprised by the support of the Wii U here on the forum, for a while I thought this place was lost to irrational little kids who couldn't type nor use logic, thankfully, I wasn't entirely right.

The Wii U can definitely support GTA V, and looking at Nintendo's stocks as of late, they need a system with a good line of games to better rival the other two Goliaths. Nintendo isn't going to deny a game based on its "maturity", this is the same company who had Mad World, Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Eternal Darkness, and Manhunt 2 on their systems in the past, that family friendly shtick won't get in the way of building a library. I really don't see why you guys don't want GTA to be on the Wii U anyway, it won't affect you in the slightest.

Anyways, I wonder how HARDCORE Microsoft is being right now?

Sony doesn't care, that's why their consoles are the least selling, and PCs have TONS of casual games. ALL OF THEM.

What do you mean Sony doesn't care? They are less than 2 million units off Microsoft at 66.2 million units, and they have consistently outsold xbox every single week for the last two years except at Christmas time.

So I don't see how you have this notion that Sony doesn't care.

By doesn't care I mean doesn't care about casuals (mostly). I know that sounded like fanboyism, but I was actually trying to say that the PS3 is the most ""HARDK0R3!!!!!!!!!!!111one" of the consoles, and that's why it sold the least ammount of units. That and it's huge launch price.

It's funny how everybody here is saying nintendo doesn't allow violent video games, but that hasn't been true since 1995.

John The Grudge
Won't it be mainly children and elderly people getting the WiiU though.  I saw the Nintendo trailer for it and it's just games aimed at young children by the looks of things.  Except for the multi platform games but people won't buy a WiiU for those.  My point is that I just don't see the point in Rockstar releasing a WiiU version.

Hey, people buy 360s for multiplatform, why can't other people buy WiiUs for that? They're cheaper (I think), more powerful and have an awesome controller. Plus, there are games like Zelda, Bayonetta 2 and ZombiU.

They're definitely not cheaper. What I meant was that core gamers who already own an XBox 360 or PS3 are surely unlikely to fork out for a WiiU. I just don't see what the point would be.

So WiiU gamers will all be casuals? That's what you're saying? That could also be said about the 360 for the exact same reasons. It's mainly advertised to families, to be able to compete with the Wii. Sony doesn't care, that's why their consoles are the least selling, and PCs have TONS of casual games. ALL OF THEM.

What I'm saying is why the heck would a core gamer, who presumably already owns an XBox 360 or a PS3, waste their money on a WiiU just to play games that they could play on the XBox 360 or PS3? Multiplatform games won't look much better on the WiiU, and Nintendo games appear to be just for little kids.

Nintendo games appear to be just for little kids.

Would you say that the PS3 was made just for teenagers with an obsession with Japanese Anime?

Nintendo's games are good, and generally pretty difficult (if you ignore the cheat items they give you for dying several times in games like Mario and Donkey Kong.) They are just more accessible to all kinds of audiences as opposed to God of War (for example). Just because anyone can have fun playing their games, doesn't mean their games are 'just for little kids'

The Wii was marketed mostly to casual gamers, but Microsoft and Sony followed Nintendo's lead, that's what Kinect and PSMove was all about.

The Wii U isn't doing the same thing, it's bringing Nintendo back into the "hardcore" gaming scene. They'll be outdated by the time the PS4 and Nextbox come out, but that's not the point. As it stands right now, there is no reason for GTA V not to be released on the Wii U. It would essentially be a port of the Xbox360 version, just like the PS3 version.

I've said it earlier, I say it again.

WiiU has one major plus side compared to 360.

Internal storage (expandable via SD and external HDD).

So far this has not been taken into consideration since the vast install base of 360.

But what if V is for two consoles + PC?

I also said, that if they can implement the new WiiU controller nicely within the game, I might be buying a new console (and again because of GTA). biggrin.gif

Or .. soon we'll get the platforms and they are the 360/PS3/PC and my wild theories will look as wild and idiotic they seem to be. wink.gif

Those aren't the only ones. Have a look back at this post I made in April. http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtop...st&p=1061196876

Amazing how many 1st, 2nd, and Rockstar games are actually on that list of only M-rated games on Nintendo consoles. sly.gif

@GTAction99: Ever played it? It is second only to Duke Nukem in its crudeness. It would be lucky to get an R rating if it were a movie.

How is it possible to release GTA V on the Wii U, when they started developing the game 3 years before the console's release? or probably 2 or 2 and a half years before acquiring the development kit?

Well the Wii-U architecture looks pretty damn similar to the Xbox so a port doesn't look so out of place, they have had 6 months since the final dev-kits were released, it may come a little later for Wii-U, similar to a PC release, but i think with the similar tech R* could slap together a port within a few months.

The game was the subject of controversy and the Xbox version in 2005 was censored, they perhaps did not appreciate the sexual themes, the strong language and toilet humor smile.gif

This is a fantastic game on N64. Rare had a wonderful sense of humor back then.

Before Microsoft destroyed their soul & beat all the humour out of them. Could've been worse if Activision had bought them, they'd have been closed a long time ago.

So funny how every thread here turns into a discussion totally unrelated to V.

Because there is absolutely nothing left to talk about for V. Someone tries to bring up a "new" topic for discussion, and either it gets flamed and locked because it has been discussed, or it is shot down because it is retarded. Then there are the very few which actually add to discussion, and are actually original material...

Well, lets just say that game was Rated M for a reason. Look up some videos on Youtube of the Saving Private Ryan parody or the first level.

I don't see why they shouldn't put it on the Wii U, it is a more powerful console than the Xbox 360/PS3. And if there is multiple discs on the xbox 360 version for GTA V there sure wont be multiples on the Wii U if they did release it unless it was REALLY HUGE because Wii U Discs can support up to 25gb.

Didn't TTwo say that there was going to be no bigs titles on the Wii U?

There's no question to whether or not the Wii U can handle GTA V but if it takes a few months to port the game, would it be worth the effort?

After Rare left Nintendo, most of Rare's true talent went to Free Radical. Rare made Banjo Kazooie on 360 and f*cked it up big time, all Microsoft's fault though? I don't really believe it's all their fault. Microsoft recently renewed the trademark for Killer Instinct..could be a KI in HD coming or a brand new one, but i'm already afraid Rare is gonna mess it up.
