I like to play balanced games, and that's my only problem with players who turn it in to a team death match, they will only ever play this manner against noobs.

I've seen it often, and been the victim of getting kicked, because I wasn't noob enough for these players, I was able to actually shoot, throw grenades and give them trouble...so the other players decided to kick me from the game... confused.gif

I understand your view point mmmfloorpie, I personally hunt these players though, under different accounts. But I do get a bit sick of seeing them, farming $ out of hopeless noobs.

I don't think turbo's are common though, a lot of cornershooting though.

Well that's funny because I've played with people that admit to using turbo controllers in CnC

Lolll really? That's interesting because i've never met a cheater who admit to use cheats... You've found nice cheaters then wow.gif

What was their IDs ?

My buddy TheWildeHunde bought one last week just to see what it's like.

He says that with turbo on, rifles fire 3 burst shots in rapid succession that hit in the exact same place every time. So basically, it gives you 100% accuracy for those 3 shots.

That's why when you go from 100% health and armour to dead in 1 second it's because you are taking 3 shots at the same time.

He said it's also true with SMGs but the effect isn't as good as with the rifles.

It's also harder to drive with turbo and you basically have to stop the car, turn on the turbo to get the effect.

And believe me, that's something I've noticed SEVERAL people doing.

OR, since it doesn't work while driving, people use the tactic I described earlier. They just forego cars altogether and walk from one weapon spawn to the other until they get to an armour spawn and camp on it.

Then either they don't go for the getaway at all, or the walk to it from point to point.

There, I just told everyone how it works! And since you can get a turbo controller for around $15 its not like they are ultra rare.

I see... But sometimes you can't be sure if a player Is using a turbo or not, because in GTA : 2 headshots kills you, no needs turbo in my opinion... And the bodyarmor dont protect you from headshots you know.... I get hatemailed alot by some nooby loosers saying i use a turbo... Why? Because in their opinion They shouldnt die by 2 headshots...lol, come on!! mad.gif they dont Believe me when i tell them i dont have a turbo, i just shoot their head and i dont miss the target, but They dont believe me and quit the game saying im a cheater just because im better Than them at this game.... And when i ask them How old They are They reply me like 14' 15' 16' ....lol, GTA Isnt made for kids...

Im playing GTA since 14 months Now and the Only turbo user ive seen was a Guy from TDM.... At the beggining i thought he was just a beast shooter but when i came in an Infernus to kill him ( the reverse shot which give u an advantage and just expose ur hand to ur enemies ) he shot my hand 1 Time and killed me... I had full health and full armor... 1 shot in my Hand and i died... This Is a turbo user.

I think turbo doesnt give a big advantage to good shooters but it does for noobs, and the Only good thing in turbo Is that you can kill peoples by Only one shot, no need to shoot the head, but when ur a good shooter you dont need this because u Only shoot the head, peoples useing turbo are just Bad shooters who need this to kill peoples.

I don't really understand Cops n Crooks I think. There seems to be a lot I don't understand. I get the basics: if you're a cop, kill the boss. If you're a crook, kill the cops and get to the getaway vehicle.

There just seems to be a lot of pros out there that leave me behind oblivious as to what they want me to be doing.

Thank Gents. I realise there is a dedicated video section, but since this is a thread specifically for Cops and Crooks enthusiasts it feels more relevant here. Without wanting to fill it up to much, I thought I would share this match from last week. In my oppinion, this match is what Cops and Crooks is all about - I hold out just long enough and my team mates turn up to rescue me in the nick of time. We have a slice of good fortune (see the 30 seconds or so from 5:30), but if help came but a moment later, I would have been dead for sure! Keep an eye on the radar (best watched in HD) to see the Cops advancing on my position!

Unfortunately, you can't here my voice, but you can probably work out the gist of it from the other guys - we are in constant communication, planning the escape, even when my team mates are not nearby.

Please share any videos you have yourselves. I actually enjoy spectating and seeing other style of play and tactics.

You know Brad, if V doesn't have a CnC equivalent, or the same thing exactly. Let's all go to Edinburgh and burn their HQ down to the ground in protest, who's with me? colgate.gif

Had some good games the other night, on an alternative account, poor fake level 10's couldn't catch me or the noobs, if you are playing vs people you expect have turbo's, then car's and driving around is the way to counter them, especially if you have a decent knowledge of the map!

I'd like to one day add to this topic, getaway vehicle escape routes, that are usually very effective, based on the concept of knowing where cops usually spawn, and getaway locations. I think the trick is, to make them believe you are not heading to the getaway, so they don't camp...and then quickly get to it before they can catch you tounge.gif of course the best of the best will always manage to make it really difficult to do this, and personally after playing the whole TDM, stay alive, hide on corners, and camp near body armour style games, the escaping in style (a few stops here and there, getting on fire and just about reaching healthpacks in time, taking shorts cut, unique stunt jumps) games are much more fun, especially when teams are balanced!

f*ck all the f*ckers that only play unbalanced games against noobs.

It's my favorite mode as well. I'm about 600 something on PS3, so I play it pretty regularly with all the usuals... BOGT has great weapons and vehicles but I never play it because CnC is awesome. Why they removed that option from the later games boggles my mind. Also, maybe offer some interesting twists on it. How about the blips are on for the criminals until you get close to them? That would make things super tense. Also, some other ways to start/end the game might be kinda cool.... think of all the other cop vs crook scenarios in real life. How about break the boss out of jail? Then escort him to a safehouse, instead of a helicopter/boat? Or maybe a train? Also, being able to adjust loadout would be fun too.

I think when CNC turns into a deathmatch, it's actually quite awesome. Considering how long it takes for 16 people to hit "ready to play", it sucks when the boss gets killed quickly, so I have no problem whatsoever with expereinced teams not wanting to kill the boss. I remember one time playing a game where we battled all the way from one end of the island to the other, without the boss dying, ON FOOT. It was great!

Being able to combo vehicles would be kinda neat too. Imagine stuffing a motorcycle into a helicopter, flying a helicopter over the boss, then having the guy on the motorcycle jump out while shooting a machine gun to bring the chase down to ground level.

I was thinking about this the other day.

More often than not in our games, the Boss dies in both rounds (if there are experience players on both teams that is). It's not suprising, the Cops only have to get lucky once. So often who wins a game is determined by the Cop team that killed the most crooks in addition to the Boss. This for me is kind of unsatisfying. That's a fine score system for TDM, but not for CnC.

I've already suggested ways the score system could be refined (e.g. on time to kill the boss/escape), but these are not perfect as other people have pointed out.

However, one thing you could refine is the individual Player leaderboards. Instead of being based on points accumulated over games, you could base the player rankings on the percentage of times they escaped (or the Boss on the team the help to escape). Escaping is the rare event and that is what should be rewarded. You would have to have some way of weighting the escape ratio with total number of games (to avoid one player getting top with 100% escapes only playing one match, or someone having a crap ratio but simply playing all day, every day to get the total up).

It would encourage Bosses not to be reckless, turn the games into a TDM, or players running around shooting Crooks in the back (who only have a pistol and can't see the Cops on the radar) to boost the score. That style of play might win you a game, but your personal stats would be crap on the leader board.

What do people think?

Some good ideas, I personally don't care much for stats, but the idea of having an added stat for 'escaping' successfully, rather than just winning does sound quite cool.

I like the variation between CnC games, that are more TDM, and those that are car chases, and the tactical getaway extraction from campers, freedom to play however you want is a good thing.

I think Rockstar will divide the newcomers from the pro's, by perhaps having some servers only open to highly ranked players. That would fix the problem of those players that pick on the lesser players only.

-------

Also good to hear from you cash68, I like your idea of combining vehicles!

I always remember looking at BOGT before it was released and hoping the additions that were shown in previews would transfer over to IV, like the parachutes, and that helicopter with the magnet, too bad they didn't.

So, playin some CNC the other night in a room 4v4. I was friend with 6 of the other guys, and we were having some great games. The last game we played, I was boss in the second round. We spawned over by the airport in that fence enclosed area with the big tanks. We jumped the wall and crossed the freeway into the airport where the helicopter spawns and went around the building to the right where the health pack is. Cops were coming at us and we were holding them off fairly well. I believe our team was already up in points from the previous round. My teammates were starting to get spawn trapped and I had 2 cops coming at me. I managed to kill one and the other decided to leave me alone when he probably could have killed me and won the round. We decided to escape to prevent them from killing us in points. I escaped and they were unable to stop me. We then got blasted on for running, being pussies and one guy even deleted me and they all left the room way pissed off. They talked as if we were obligated to stand and fight and let them run their score up. So, CNC payers, are we not allowed to do what we want in a game that's completely designed that way? I am still shocked at the anger after one game...ha ha.

I know exactly where you are coming from JD, it's probably part of the reason a lot of the players dislike me, I escape. I've played the game longer than most, and not so much recently because of work and life, but a few months back I'd be playing and as boss other players simply wouldn't be trying to kill me, so instead purposely avoided me, and just killed team mates who were friends or noobs (or both colgate.gif ). Only a dumb boss would let the other members on his team get spawned killed like that (Happens a lot in South Algonquin Construction Site spawn)...so I escape, then like you get called pussy etc... The real pussy is the player killing the guy spawning with a pistol.

Anyways I like escape games, I like using knowledge of the map and driving skills in my games, rather than the ability just to stay alive / shoot from corners / camp near healthpacks-armour etc. Like I've said before freedom to chose how to play is what makes this mode most appealing, followed by the randomness and difference between every game played, it's not the same spawns, it's never the same boss and you just don't know how it's going to end.

Yet some players, only want to play the certain way, only want to play vs noobs, and then worse of all criticise and disrespect any other player that chooses to pick another way of playing !

It's time to ghost. cool.gif

Just going to add. The best games of Cops N Crooks I've been in, have usually involved two balanced teams (doesn't happen often these days, seeing as clans play a lot and really hate eachother, accuse eachother of turbo and everthing else, then simply avoid eachother)...in these greatest games, the getaway vehicle and attempts to escape have always featured. I especially like it when a crook takes the getaway, the boss then has to make it to the getaway, and as a cop you have to make a choice between going to kill the crook, or the boss.

I wish I recorded one moment, when the boss a noob, was getting in the getaway, after it was picked up by a decent player, I chose to focus on the boss, the message comes at the bottom.... the boss has escaped etc....I zoom in and from a driveby kill him as the helicopter begins to rise. Maybe very lucky, but that's the sort of moments I enjoy, and never seem to happen in those games than involve 'TDM only' ...it's too repetitive.

yeah I have been having great games all week

and a good game isn't necessarily one I win, as long as its fun

noticed some new names killing everything in sight;

jus had a game against ddwjop943 and jusallskills vs just me and they murdered me beyond murder $25 to $2500 so I quit to go smoke and hop on here and dude deleted me lol

I'm guessing I should have stayed in the room another hour while they trolled me. ddwjop943 and flamingcrimson are eerily too good I'm thinkin maybe turbos I'm not sure

also noticed red_boss making his rounds. auto kick him he is a modder who just stays as the boss and uses invinciblity/auto aim mods to stay alive

also anybody with the last name "officiel" gets kicked, all modders.

Flames Crimson, is a member of the Damned, he's a good player, not a turbo.

I will say though, turbo's are rife in CnC these days.

You have to host games yourself, making traffic and peds on high, and if you do suspect a turbo, make them attack you in a car, their turbo's don't work from vehicles.

They will always, jump out of cars to engage, and mostly will use rifles, even from close range! Autoaim noobs have started to play disallow with them, and there are plenty of low ranked second account players using them too.

It's pathetic they need a modified controller to play the game.

It's also a BIG reason why they don't play against eachother, and only against low ranks.

Hopefully V will disable turbo advantages, and these dumb fags will have wasted their money. lol.gif

Lol why do you think I'm a turbo? I snipe most of the time if possible since that's one of the things I consider myself good at, and turbos use a lot of rifles. What was your account btw?

It's a shame what CnC has come to. I agree with aj, nowadays you either have a lobby with little to no people or games were all the highranks just teamup against the newbies and even if I try to help them, It's too hard to take them on without decent help and without mentioning that their teamwork is not bad.

I really can't play a tdm that has colony island or happiness island without thinking that there are turbos in there specially the ones with the shady names... Sometimes It just seems that they are too good, but hopefully gtav will change everything.

Lol just kidding.. That's nice smile.gif and damn, most people on the consoles have way more than 1000 games, I guess it's because of the amount of people on consoles and pc monocle.gif

Btw what's that true skill rank..?

Im not 100% sure how does TrueSkill rank work but its surely based on games played/won and probably kills/deaths ratio too, it also seems to be important whats trueskill of your opponents and amount of players in other team, playing alone in team is the best way to raise up your trueskill (if you win of course). And its surely one leaderboard that cant be affected by cheaters.

Interesting thanks for posting. smile.gif I would say well done, but it makes no sense whether it's achievement or not. Leaderboards on ps3, have never shown 'true skill' except the time I would say bmg_tbh was on top.

I'd like to know all the differences between console and pc, version of CnC.

Is it true you can fire an RPG as a passenger from a helicopter (without mods obviously) ?

I know it's true you can change weapon spawn density, I've seen in footage, weapon pickup spawns in places not found in console versions.

What else is there, in terms of options and gameplay?

Thats not true but there are some differences with helicopters, not in CnC but on PC 1 Annihilator bullet will always kill you, 2-3 is enough to set a car on fire, there are also Annihilators in TLaD at their usual spawn points also in deathmatches. The biggest different in CnC is text chat I think, it allows you to communicate with your team whenever you want. Other difference is that host is able to kick whoever he wants and when he wants, there is no need for voting unless game is ranked than he can kick only in lobby. You can have up to 32 players in one game. Other things depends on players, PC regulars always use powerful weapons, when I meet someone who played before on consoles he always want to use standard weapons, there is no auto aim allow/disallow problem becouse everyone use mouse, there is no turbo controllers, there is no cheaters, I mean there are some but they are easy to kick and avoid.

So is it possible to have 16 vs 16 (32 total) in CnC, or is that limited to 8 vs 8 (16 total)???

Funny you mentioned console players wanting standard smile.gif, yeah it's the norm here for most players, I quite like a bit of variation though, nothing like a noob an rpg for random sh*t, just hate when a fairly decent player decides to only use an rpg, that's why standard is popular.
