MIKON8ERISBACK
Long story short, I'm in a grade 12 college level English class this semester and I felt there was a need for a thread dedicated to short and simple walkthroughs of typing an assignment in the MLA format. I'm a very honest person when it comes to my academics and it is NOT my intention for this thread to be used for plagiarism, classic cheating or "instant completion" of any piece of school work. Why to teachers even care about students using a centralized layout format, I don't know, all I do know is that I need a little help and the school books fail to properly illustrate things. I thought a forum thread could come in very handy for me and many other people.

If your goal is not plagiarizing or cheating, you're clearly using the internet wrong. This site does half of my work for me.
EscoLehGo
This site helped me out a sh*t ton with MLA and APA when I was bullsh*tting my way through high school and college with my mediocre, last minute, unenthusiastic research papers. gtamann123
I always just use Easy Bib to do my bibliographies. Works pretty well since i haven't gotten any complaints yet. And yes i agree that it doesn't make much sense that you have to give such a detailed description of your source. I think a simple link to the article giving credit for the information would be enough. Its just outdated rules from days where people were actually using books to do research Edited September 16, 2012 by gtamann123
gta_player5
This site helped me out a sh*t ton with MLA and APA when I was bullsh*tting my way through high school and college with my mediocre, last minute, unenthusiastic research papers. I was just about to post this link. I used this website throughout my four years at college. It's a really useful site.
EgyptianStar
Yes Highly recommend. Owl Purdue learning Center. Also recommend buying a book called the "The Brief Bedford Reader 10th edition 2009" Its highly useful in learning how to write MLA correctly. Citing sources correctly. And how to edit papers with peer review or on your own. Once you get to college everything you learn in High School goes into the recycling bin. Useless. So your kinda getting a head start which helps alot. Edited September 16, 2012 by EgyptianStar

EscoLehGo
In my experience high school didn't prepare me for college at all and apparently it didn't help a lot of the other incoming freshmen out either because a quarter of them were back home by the end of the first semester. I never had to study in high school but you actually have to get in the books in college. You can either spread it out and spend a reasonable 3-4 hours a week studying or you can blow it all off until finals, go on an adderall binge and spend a week straight in the library with your eyes bulging out of your head. They all told us to forget everything you learned in High School as they deemed it useless. My English professor said writing High school papers is nothing like college papers. College requires you to cite, edit, review, research, and have a free-flowing insightful thesis. High school doesn't teach you that.

My high school taught us this freshman year and gave us 3 more years experience on it too. High school was a joke, but I find the core subjects in college easier than hs. Plus our hs had a college level history teacher that threw out the books curriculum and actually made us learn instead of memorize. He reminded me of the teacher from dead poets society, it was such an insightful class
