dooshtoomun
Just seeing the shape of the land would be good enough for me. The size itself would be even better.
JuankAirPilot
Wow. Definitely more ppl who would prefer to see the map per-release than I thought, nuthin wrong with that. Just as an example, 1 thing that made me buy Just Cause 2 was the map size.......but if I hadn't seen it before I played, I would've been completely blown away by the massive size of the game world
marrecar
I'd like only to see the contour of the island(s). No details, no size of the city, nothing, just a contour.
theworldfamous
I'd rather not see the map at all.. not even an outline. OR just a simplified map and then very little else if it has to be, but not at all is the best. It's all about that magic moment when you finally get the controls and bring up the menu and first see the map..
AlexJonesConspiracy
Lmao i was just thinking they can atleast release a screen shot of the map, it would be nice for then to open there mouths once in a while, instead of giving poor screenshots so funny. jamieleng
I'd like them to show a detailed birds eye view of 1/10th of the map but with no info about it. Then we could get an idea of the size but without spoiling it.
Smith John
@OP Yeah I remember that on the website. Wasn't it like the last 3 months before release that they uncovered each of the islands? I used to sit for what felt like an eternity waiting for the little mini video clips on the map to load up on my old dial-up connection! Anyway, as much as I couldn't wait to see each segment of the map revealed back then (I think it's because it was something completely new to a GTA game, with countryside and all, that curiosity got the better of me), if the same were to happen again, I will be staying well away from any website, forum or magazine untill the game is released. This is ONE thing I don't want spoiled untill I experience the game itself. bash the fash m8s
White Flight
I have a dream that I would start exploring without seeing the map. But then I guess I would have to turn the hud off first, which most likely means being forced to look at the map. Damn.

Right now, I'm so starved (arne't we all) of any kind of info for GTA V that I'd hope we'll get the same treatment SA and IV did, with parts of the map revealed with little videos of characters. On the other hand, we have waited so, so long that I don't want to spoil much, especially as, like Isuck100%, I watched the leaked videos of IV and spoilt it for myself . I'd like to see at least an outline, just to give us an idea. Probably go down the 'IV' route rather than the SA one.
thebig
They don't have to release the total map, just the form would be enough. Then we can see how big it is. Or maybe they just say how big it is.
Above
I would like to see the map before the game is released. It won't spoil anything for me.
TrialzGTAS
Nooo... That would ruin the surprise. Why would you want to memorize the map before its release. The fun is adventuring it.
Lugermorph
I'll try not to look at it if they release it, but if I end up stumbling upon it I wouldn't mind. I like the idea someone had where it's just the map, doesn't show the streets or land marks.
Mamunda
Map would create huge hype and huge amount of speculation I would like to see the map before release, but if not, they could at least say the mileage so we would know how big the map is

I remember vividly siting in front of my computer with a pack of beers everytime an island was revealed. By the time I'd watched all the little clips and listened to all the sound samples, I'd end up pissed as a fart lol Dial-up eh? Good times! Can't believe it's been 8 years already! Been meaning to visit the website again and re-living all the memorys. f*ck it, I'm off to the shop for some beers! bash the fash m8s
Lance Wilson
it wasn't until i actually read this post and thought about it that i realised i really don't want to see the map at all until i unfold the map/poster out of the box. if i knew i could do it i'd have no information until release but chances of me stopping visiting this site and the newswire are extremely slim what i know until release is down to rockstar. if they release the info i've no choice but to see it unfortunately
huevos_benedicto_180
Yeah on the GTA IV website it was an outline of the islands. Honestly I want as much as possible to not be shown beforehand so it's a surprise during the game, so no, I wouldn't want to see the map pre-release. AtomicPunk
I do not wanna see the map until I'm waiting for the game to install, then I'll take the map out of the box and go over it like a topo map. This is a sacred ceremony amongst some GTA fans and I look forward to it. It better be BIG. However, if the map's released I'll probably look at it. I wish I could say no. Redketman
The first thing I do before I play GTA games nowadays is looking at the map that follows with the game. I'm going to do the same thing this time too. I'm not even sure they will release the map on internet before the game is released anyway.
futo-GT
keep it a secret until midnight release day that way its only a spoiler for those who don't get it on release day - I won't be on this forum come release day, coz I'll be in 1st in line to get GTA V

RockStarNiko
This is how they should reveal the map to us. Short trailer with that Lux Aeterna music Start off showing the smallest GTA maps, then show the next biggest in size over the top, leading all the way upto San Andreas After a while of us seeing the San Andreas map the music builds and they reveal the size of GTA V map and its about 3 times as big Then we all have nerdgasms
KrushLTx10
It really wouldn't hurt anyone by seeing the map before its release. I mean its not like you can point out any landmarks or any easter eggs. You can just point out "Oh wait a minute... that street isn't supposed to be there in real life" and all that other stuff. R* is known to move around some buildings that aren't in the same spot in real life and the map won't show any of that.

Deffpony
I really want the map to be a surprise when I play it. I would however like a statement about the exct size of the map pre release. Something like "GTA V's mp will be the size of RDR plus Algonquin"

I heard that the map could be 5 times as big as the GTA IV map. so it would be 30-35 square miles San Andreas was 13-14 sq m, so we would be apporaching the 3 times as big as SA mark, maybe 2.5x
AlexJonesConspiracy
i wouldnt mind a map view pre release, its not gonna ruin too much, you still have to see it rendered in 3d, etc. so yeah , iwouldnt mind.
