Who wants to see the map, pre-release?

Prior to the release of GTA SA, I remember the website showing all 3 of the islands, but with vertical lines through each of them and no detail what so ever. Rockstar then released detailed maps of each island 1 at a time starting with Red County, so we all could view the maps before the release.

 

I've really been craving info along with others in regards to V, but since I've waited almost a year and had minimum info on V, I almost would prefer to continue the wait (which will prolly be shorter than we've already waited) and be completely unaware of the landscape layout that were delivered into.

 

If anything, a part of me would prefer only an outline of the map be released, with no street or landmark detail included. That way we get an ideal of the land size, but will still be given an element if surprise when the game releases. What would you guys/girls prefer?

I think it would be nice if they showed a non detailed map, which only shows where land is before the release of the game.

I remember them showing the RDR/L.A Noire map before release.. either that or it was leaked (which ended up being the legit maps) I wouldn't mind seeing that again

Lmao i was just thinking they can atleast release a screen shot of the map, it would be nice for then to open there mouths once in a while, instead of giving poor screenshots

I would definitely want to see the map, because it would determine when I buy the game.

 

If it is a very large map I would probably buy it more or less around release date.

 

If it is relatively small and only similar size in total to GTA IV, then I might just wait for price to drop.

 

Also the reviews will affect when I buy it too. 10/10 across the board and I most likely buy straight away.

 

If it is getting 7s and 8s then probably wait again until price drop

As much as I'd love it, no. While I am eager to see the map, I'd rather keep it a surprise.

Feel the same way......if they released it on the website tomorrow I wouldn't he mad, and would probably give in to looking at it......but if they didn't, I feel like it would enhance my expirence.

This is interesting to compare with how the GTA IV map was revealed only as an outline, and at an angle too, in a very abstract way that seemed designed to defeat any pre-release comparison of the map's scale with that of GTA SA. GTA IV has a smaller map in area and Rockstar didn't want the game to be judged by that before anyone had played it.

 

Similarly, Rockstar revealed maps of the Red Dead Redemption territories without a scale reference. That map is big, but again Rockstar didn't want it to be judged by a hard measurement and to this day people believe it's bigger than it is (GTA SA has significantly more accessible area).

 

If GTA V is indeed the biggest world Rockstar had made, they may return to showing off the scale more openly as they did with San Andreas. Or they may decide it's better to let people imagine it's even bigger than it is.

No map. I want a surprise this time. Doubt that will happen though as someone will spoil my fun or maybe R* themselves will.

I'd like to see a simple outline of the map, with only a few details. Just enough to give me an idea of the size of the environment. Maybe just list the names of certain areas, along with a specific number stating the size in "square miles" of the map.

...basically all i want to know regarding map that is precise details on the map size...that might be in textual form and doesn't have to be screenshot or gameplay video!...just official words from R*'s mouths thats all i ask...the rest i can find on my own when the game is released...oh and when i say precise i really mean it...i know that R* hinted towards huge map, but that barely confirming anything, i want to know facts not some hints posted long time ago...

Agree, this is what happened with IV, well there was a leak of the paper map but also R*'s own website had the map.

Not much detail in either, only land mass. I would be perfectly happy to see the same thing with V, no detail just land mass.

I couldn't even resist looking at leaked gameplay videos of GTA IV in the week leading up to release, despite the plethora of info and videos coming from every gaming website. I still had to watch those damn leaked videos!

Thats the first thing I do when I get a GTA, get that paper map out and ogle it while the disc installs.

For me, that surprise is when I unlock the next island and see whats about.

I would like to see something like suggested in the quote, all you will see is a cutout of the map which is greyed out, kinda like what San Andreas map looked like before you had explored.

This would be a good idea, but not I'd it is released as a piece of information as itself. I would rather it be hidden like something on a poster in a new trailer/screenshot. If they released it on its own and not making an appearance in a medium then I think it would sort of ruin the fun of it.
