PacketOverload_x64bit
Sunny, Los Santos, Vinewood, mmm. I really hope there's %65 City, %20 Residential, %5 beaches, %2 Mountains and %7 INTERIOR!!! (%1 water). Ideology City: %65 Percentage: I've always found that the structures and streets, and alleys and large buildings are harder to remember. As a layout of a new city is hard to get used to for the first twelve months. Replayability and city life really does create alot of ambience. Residential: %20 Percentage: Always need a switch up from the pace of the city life to a quieter place to wage war, run from the 5-0, deal some dope and hop some home-grown fences. Essential I think. Beaches: %5 Percentage: Let's face, are most beaches 10 miles deep, 300 miles long and available full circle around an island / continent. No. Neither should GTA V's. A hundred meters deep from water edge to city street, and circling the whole land masses in V should be more than enough to permeate a Vice feel. Interiors: %4 Percentage: Cheers to hoping a large portion is interiors. Especially script-driven interiors where activities are available. Dance clubs, burger and fries, buy a new phone, customize your barely legal escort for the night, pickup a new suit or heavy automatic assault rifle - can't do without those interiors. Mountains: %2 Percentage: Yeah, I wouldn't mind hand-gliding, base jumping, or siuciding from a mountain. But I wouldn't want a good portion of the map dedicated to it. Crash in the mountains with an airplane, %2 is enough for S&R missions. Water: %1 Percentage: What is "water" in the map. Unless it's in a lake inside of the rest of the zones, it's just plain old water. I'd rather cruise along the beach TBH.
Kifflom112
I can't believe there are people in here who want the city to be bigger than the countryside. I mean how unrealistic would that be? It's a video game you know, it's not supposed to be realistic . Oh, right. I didn't realise this. Thanks for the heads up man Does this mean we'll be able to hijack pink camels and fly to the moon to start a new business dealing coffee beans to canniballistic cat-fish? Wow, the door of opportunity for V has been opened to vast horizons. Man you are annoying. My estimates are 20% city, 40% countryside, 15% mountains, 10% beaches, 15% desert(not dessert). PacketOverload_x64bit
I find it rather amusing that given it's an assumption / presumption topic of the divisibles in the map that someone would chastize another member for his wants. Fact is: nobody is going to get exactly what they want to a "T." I personally find large open landscapes including beaches and grassy knolls / hills mountains boring. Ever played Armed Assault? Yes? See what I mean! No? Go play Armed Assault you'll find out what I mean.

wojas
I doubt that the city took more than 50% of the map because Dan Hauser said, "very big map". And in my opinion "very big map" is larger than 30 sq miles. And don't expect a 15-20 sq miles of Los Santos. My expectation is 35sq miles map with 30% city, 30% countryside, 15% desert, 20% mountains, 5% beaches.
kricco
I doubt there'll be desert. Nothing like San Andreas's at least. Then you better watch the trailer, you can see that it will be desert in GTA V If you take a look at 0:
jamieleng
I'm most looking forward to the mountainous terrain shown in the trailers, the one with the hikers & redwood trees. Like the Tall Trees area in RDR, only bigger. What would people prefer when it comes to traversing the mountains on foot. Being able to run up near 90 degree angles like in SA, or slightly more realistic like RDR? @Kricco Exactly, the scene with the wind turbines is in the desert. ThisIsHorosho
nah don't agree with others it should be like that 60% - city (which includes beaches as well), 25% - countryside (which includes mountains off course) and 15% - deserts!...if game has more countryside than city i'll be slightly disappointed, unless they fill countrysides with more life and not make it dull like in San Andreas... Official General
I wanna see more suburbs. We need to see more suburban environments, GTA IV did not not have enough of them. In fact suburbs I something we don't get much of in GTA in general. This time I want Los Santos to be much more detailed and bigger than it was in San Andreas, and at least one other city, but at the same time I want a good amount of vast natural habitats, and smaller towns. I say: City 45% (Most of it being Los Santos and rest being a fictional San Diego) Smaller towns and settlements 15% Countryside and Wilderness 25% Mountains 5% Desert 5% Beaches and Coastline 5% Edited September 16, 2012 by Official General

reform
This is made after Cali. I dont see why people have the beaches at 5%. Even if you took the real Cali as an example, the area of coastline alone is about 840 miles. If the entire coastline was a beach, and was 1 mile wide, it'd still only be 0.5% of California's total area, which is 163,707 square miles. Then you better watch the trailer, you can see that it will be desert in GTA V If you take a look at 0:27 Technically that's not desert, it's very dry shrubs and brush like what's around the real LA. We have not seen desert, but I still think we'll get some.
i am a girl on the internet
30% desert25% countryside (woodland) 25% city 15% mountains 5% beaches I agree with this prediction, although the desert/woodland ratio could do with a slight change. Should the city area occupy 10-15% and for GTA game is too small. GTA's in the city area is always at least 30% sq miles so this time I hoping for city That size
