Exxon
Hi there, I was wondering, do you know any rock music that has feeling in it? It's a matter of what you think what really is 'feeling', but it's just that kind of rock music which might mean something special to you. A song I really like is "Under Cover of Darkness" from The Strokes. I just always feel like singing along or drumming along. It just has that special thing to it But my best example is "Brothers In Arms" from the Dire Straits. Though it's not really rock, I just absolutely love this song. I can get emotional when listening to this song So, do you guys know any songs like that? Please post them here and widen my taste of music
Tyler
Rock music with feeling? Rock was made for feelings. You might as well ask what rock songs don't have feeling, bub.
GreatGig
I concur with Tyler. Rock music has some of the most heartfelt songs known to man. This one always gets me. Although it's not rock, Pink Floyd are always an exception to any rule. This was the last song they performed before they disbanded and went their separate, bitter ways. It was written by David Gilmour in a sort of autobiographical manner about the time he left home to begin his lengthy career with Pink Floyd. When you listen to it after knowing all of the stuff they went through together, the songs has a whole new meaning. To me, it's a reflection of the perfect Floyd years where they were all getting along, being massively creative, and just being happy. This live version has so much feeling, especially the added solo that Gilmour plays at the end. It's almost as if he never wanted the song to end, but he knew it must, so he tried to end it with as much feeling of his own as he could. I might add another one in a bit if I can think of something worthwhile.
Exxon
Well ... compare "Black Math" to "Under Cover of Darkness" and you'll notice a difference. That's what I mean with sensitive. Anyway, thanks for the songs. Would be nice to get a few more

None are "sensitive" really (not really a good word to describe rock in my view), but they definitely have a lot of feeling. Girlfriend ripped out your heart and used it to do keep-ups? Dio's been there too (RIP): I'd say Catch the Rainbow is pretty sensitive actually as far as rock goes: Jimmi Hendrix is all about expression of thoughts and feelings aswell: Ride the Lightning is comprised almost totally of heartfelt songs with real meaning, too: Edited September 14, 2012 by elanman

gta_king
Not to really start anything but I'm just wondering for the two that made the statements why do you think Dire Straits and Pink Floyd aren't Rock? Pink Floyd are probably one of the most important bands in the genre and Dire Straits are a rock staple. As far as the topic itself goes, album wise and I know know if this goes along with 'sensitive' but it's definitely emotive and I have mentioned it on here before but Anathema's release Weather Systems from earlier this year is a beautiful record. It's got emotion within it and the ability to provoke emotion, this is through both the playing and lyrics. For earlier examples, I'll definitely agree with the people who mentioned Dire Straits and Floyd in the topic. Floyd, especially through tracks like Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Wish You Were Here had a way of taking their experiences and putting feelings and such into music. Obviously The Wall was semi-autobiographical of Waters and the Final Cut had a lot of his anger and feelings put into it. Wouldn't really class those as 'sensitive' but definitely at times emotive. I might also put Meat Loaf into this category, some of the emotion in his work especially the Steinman stuff is in my eyes some of the best recorded music in Rock history. Tracks like Two Out Of Three, For Crying Out Loud, Heaven Can Wait, Anything For Love, Rock And Roll Dreams are stunning. trip
I'm still a bit confused over the subject here. I figured I would just toss in the Dead doing 'Turn On Your Love Light'. A rocking song with feeling. My crappy games at MyCrappyGames.com Free copy of Save The Puppies and Kittens
