turvus2
Go out, play other games. Getting slightly off topic but waiting isn't the problem for me. The not knowing what's going on is. I agree the lack of information no matter how trivial is very irritating however many fans seem to think they deserve information, almost like they're share holders or contributors when the fact is R* don't owe us anything. People can moan about how they've bought every GTA since III etc but R* aren't obligated to give us any information, so they choose not to. It's almost infuriating, it makes R* seem somewhat arrogant, they know we're starving for information and picking apart every newsfeed reply and image yet they continue to hold back. Maybe they're holding back so that they can release a whole load of information at once that will create a whirlwind of hype and news that will blow all the rumors and speculations (and even rival games) out the water, maybe they're keeping tight lipped because they know whatever information they do reveal opens them up to endless questions and requests they can't be bothered to answer or risk unintentionally revealing more information or maybe one of the many rumors to circulate was true, so now R* are either trying to change the game or carefully revealing information that doesn't show the truth behind these rumors therefore revealing everything they've tried to keep secret. The last is very 'out there' but it's possible. What I'm trying to say is R* don't owe us anything, yet they aren't the best gaming company ever nor do they have your best interests at heart right now. There's no way they aren't showing us things because the game is 'incomplete' or not presentable because what they've shown us so far shows the game is well into development and something as simple as concept art or a render will send the forum into spin. This isn't good marketing either, yes we're discussing the game months before release despite little media yet threads like this show criticism against R* is rife thanks to how they're handling things. Sadly they're not about to change either. great post. could not have said it better myself. exactly how I feel about this. jamieleng
I bought shares in R* the other day. So now, they do infact owe me something. I hope to own the entire company by 2014 and release Vice City 2(next gen modern day continuation of tommy's story. and yes I'll pay for Liota's voice again) I would've thought you'd want the shares to rise. Yeah, he should've bought some shares on the first days of August. The stock dropped as hell to less than $8 per share. The current value is 10.93$. In the first days of August he could've bought 20-25% more shares for the same money. Though the IV bump had the EA takeover attempt adding fuel to the fire so who knows.

If he's patient and wait for the release of GTA V then it was a very good deal. If he's only waiting for the next time the stock is rising up (for example GTA V's second trailer) then it would have been better for him if he would've bought the shares in early August. But I agree that it's in any case a good deal. GTAForums Crew Chat Thread - The Sharks Chat Thread - Leone Family Mafia Chat Thread
Choco Taco
Those who say Rockstar doesn't owe us anything are wrong. We're the reason they're in business. We're the ones who bought the previous games and paid their salaries and we're the ones who will buy GTA V. They make no money without us. They need us. If we don't buy their games, they no longer exist. We don't need them. If they go out of business, we'll get our games from somewhere else. We'll survive. What Rockstar is doing is disrespectful to the fans. It's not good marketing. A team of monkeys could market this game. GTA V will basically sell itself. What Rockstar is doing is alienating us and we will remember this the next time they announce a game. The hype and excitement will be less because we know they could pull another stunt like this and leave us with nothing for 8 months or so. It will only hurt them in the long run. I think it won't hurt them. They simply use a similar strategy as they did with Red Dead Redemption just with some differences. The fans were teased with some screenshots of Red Dead Redemption and then the first trailer was released. Then Rockstar was silence for 6 whole months and then they were beginning to tease the fans with screenshots again. I think it were 7 screenshots. Anyway then Rockstar had released the second trailer and then the marketing campaign was starting. I think the same will happen with GTA V. The second trailer will be the start of the full-blown marketing campaign. Redketman
Rockstar's silence doesn't really bother me. At first I really thought the second trailer would be released sometime in the summer but since then I don't care so much anymore. I don't see any point having to much hype unless I know when it's officially known when the game is going to be released.
Cuzzzin
There's a larger silence that bothers me. Besides GTA V, Rockstar has announced no new standalone titles since 2009 (or 2010 if you count Undead Nightmare). In mid 2009 we knew to expect L.A. Noire, Episodes from Liberty City, Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3, and Agent. Since Undead Nightmare came out the number of titles in the pipeline has dwindled from 5, to 4, to 3, and now 2 if Agent is still happening. This could be a natural dwindling in anticipation of a change in console hardware, but based on how the last such transition went there won't be a next-gen AAA Rockstar game available on the launch day of an unannounced console platform. Rockstar released Table Tennis six months after the Xbox 360 was out but it was two more years before their first big games were on it. If GTA V is the last title Rockstar plans for the current generation, we could be looking at a really long wait for anything after that. It could be that Rockstar plans to announce a title at the same time a new console is announced and actually do a launch title for it, but committing to that hard of a deadline hasn't worked so well in the past. I see what you're saying, but one thing that was different from the last generation switch was the focus on multiplayer. Rockstar allowed themselves toproduce games to the very end of the cycle with San Andreas coming out in 2004 and Bully coming out after the 360 was released. This time around, A lot of gaming companies are probably going to be a bit insecure about releasing games towards the end of this cycle. In fact, I wouldn't be shocked if we saw a very small time frame between the announcement and release of the PS3 and 360's successors. So, we could see a situation in which Rockstar releases GTA V in early 2013 as their big release and then sits out 2014 with the new generation consoles being released in the winter. Then they come back in 2015 with Agent of what have you.
