Colonel_Buttfuck
Rockstar won't gain anything from this silent treatment. People lose interest and start focusing on other games. Personally, I can wait, because I know the game will turn out great in the end. I can't say that about many games before I actually play them, but when it comes to GTA, satisfaction is always guaranteed.

AtomicPunk
I think a lot of people were surprised by the lack of buzz from the last 12 screens. R* has went about it all wrong. Had they spoon-fed us 1 screen per week, it would've worked better than just overkill. They don't have a good marketing team at all. If nothing comes by next friday, then we know that we're in for another drought of info, and I'm sure it will just increase peoples anger towards them. I think R* has lost a lot of respect from fans this time around and they will probably never recover from that. I know next GTA, I will wait a while before I start lusting after it. Audiophile
What are you both? 12 years old? It's his opinion, let him have it. Stop riding R*'s dick. You can't possibly think this is the best marketing strategy on earth, do you? If so, you clearly know nothing about marketing. They have been successful not because of their "awesome" marketing team but because of their games. Their marketing team doesn't suck but it's far from awesome. I wouldn't mind this form of marketing at all if they gave us a release date and release platforms (if PC releases at the same time) because I actually would like to know as little as possible so I find it all out for myself. But the thing is not everyone thinks like that and they do want information before they buy this game. There's hardcore fans like us on this forum who are for the most part very hyped and hang on R*'s every word and then there is people outside this forum that the marketing must reach and they are failing. Maybe I should apply there before they run the company into the ground.... If you were in charge of marketing then Rockstar would become just like most other game companies out there. Sure, this wait is rather frustrating but I understand why they are doing it because they have said so themselves. It's because they don't want to spoil the game for anyone. A lot of other companies put out sh*t loads of info before the game is even out so that by the time you actually get to play it you already know what's happening. Honestly, where is the fun in that? Do you really want to play a game and think "Oh, look this is the part from all those gameplay videos that they released months ago..." or do you want to think "WOW! That is so cool! I wasn't expecting that to happen...this is amazing!" What fun is it watching other people play it? It's much better when YOU experience it on your own the way it's meant to be experienced. A lot of the GTA fans are just immature and incapable of waiting for something. "OMG COCKSTAR! Y U NO RELEASE NEW INFOS ON TEH GTAV! FU MAX GAYNE 3!". I'm absolutely excited for GTA V by the way, I love the games, and again this silence is frustrating BUT I can wait. I get on with my life and guess what? time flies in! Between 2 Nov 2011 and late May 2012 I was only checking for new GTA V info every so often when I was bored. I wasn't visiting Rockstar sites or these forums every day. When I finally did join these forums in May (on an old account) I couldn't believe how fast time had went. If people could just get on with their lives then it wouldn't be so bad. I'm actually glad that Rockstar is doing this. They can get away with it, people are still gonna buy the game and make it a best seller. It will teach those immature idiots the definition of patience and that no matter how much they kick and scream they won't always get what they want when they want it. Also, it makes the game much better when you actually play it. That's what Rockstar wants and that's what they'll give us. Audiophile
As I said I have no issue with this form of marketing if we know what to expect in terms of release. So what is the issue with giving us a release date? Okay they want to avoid delays, how about a release window then? How about release day platforms at the very least? They can't even give us that and that information would take nothing away from what they want to keep secret of the game. kingcs
I disagree about people outside of this forum not being aware of GTA. With the way IGN and other gamer websites and magazines are right there on top and updating with every mention of "GTA" from Rockstar. With Social Media, everytime Rockstar mentions GTA V it trends worldwide. I think people outside of this forum are more of the "just let me know when it comes out" crowd and just go on about their day. Where as, hardcore fans sit around and analyze every thing that comes from Rockstar's mouth. People might not be hyped about it but best believe they know about it. The problem I have with Rockstar's marketing is, they know everyone is waiting for information, but they don't acqknowledge it. Why post a trailer in November? and not talk about it for 6 months? Not even one word. This is the timeline of GTAV marketing so far... 1: One week countdown to trailer. 2: Trailer 3: Short synopsis of GTAV. 4: 7 months later, two screenshots revealed unofficially. 5: One month later, Rockstar releases 10 screenshots. 6: TBA - the next batch of information. We probably have at least 6-9 months before the game even comes out! I call October 2013. Then, with the screenshots, they barely even address the fans. Only with titles... Jokesminus
Now please someone explain to me that this does not sound like they are up there own ass. They release a trailer then a small bit of info then act like GTA V doesn't exist then keep telling us to be patient not even telling us that that often. Then treating us GTA fans like we do not exist telling us to be patient when they totally messed up with the wait and marketing. Ain't no one gonna tell me this was planned really I do not think so. Then tell us stuff like when we are ready when we wanna release more info. People wonder why fans act like this it's like a hot woman that just won't put out even though she knows she's got what you want. She knows she is gonna put out eventually but she is gonna make you rub yourself all over the walls and furniture till you bleed. But she still ain't gonna give you nothing except hell no when I'm ready bitch. Rockstar have gone to far there is nothing wrong with a little info and not such a long wait. They do not need to keep acting like they are the bigger kid in the playground with the best gadget around that won't let any of the other children see it or even touch it. Tell me if any of you would except that in the real world have something as big as GTA and not be letting anyone even see it. Would you expect to be totured like that in real life seriously would you really. They are acting like stuck up rich kids who have the best and don't want dirty little tramps even looking at what they have. It's been nearly a year now and just some screenshots seriously.
