what are your views?

Yeah R* silence has effected me deeply. I haven't had a bath in months! I've no more respect for myself or others,I jacked in my job, divorced the wife and left the kids with her. Now I spend my days drinking lots of whiskey while continuously refreshing the newswire for information. There is no hope left. orly.gif

On a more serious note I find silence speaks louder than words and find it refreshing R* are not saying much. There isn't much I need to know aside from a release date. It's not like GTA is a new I.P or that I'm unsure if I'll buy it. I have blind faith in R* as thus far it's served me well. inlove.gif

Honestly, it deeply annoyed me to the point of pushing me to brink of what it even means to be a GTA fan. I felt lost in life. I could sync up most of my lifes major events to releases of GTA, and it's been far far too long since its been announced to not have a release date.

I expected a revolution in gaming for a next Gen GTA, and was given GTA4. It's not abysmal, but it definitely was not a revolution in gaming.

next, came the deafening silence.

At first, it was sort of fun. I liked the idea of not being completely saturated by info for the next GTA so some of it stays fresh. But they took it too far.

Days turnd into weeks, weeks into months, months into years. I was pissed. Really pissed. Life without a GTA to look foward to seemed very sad indeed. I wandered the streets during Genesis, asking myself: Is this really how far its gone? How could they be doing this to us?

I remember being 12 in the summer of '02, completely spellbounded by GTAIII, and played it constantly, salivating to play Vice City. I checked every detail, IMed with the early founders of GTAGaming. Watched the trailers all the time, listened to the music. I loved it. I was a Rockstar kid. I talked GTA and only GTA with my friends at school. I went around slapping R* stickers on any surface I could find. I had all the Maps of the cities as posters in my room.

Hell, one time I even flew to Miami, FL and walked down Ocean Beach with a blue button up Hawaii T shirt, jeans, white sneakers and an ipod loaded with the VC soundtrack (one of the best vacations of my entire life.) I was engrossed in the films the games were based off, soaking up any I could find. I was a proud member of the Rockstar army. And now....now I was feeling left out in the cold by the people whos games I loved. I felt betrayed, like they just did not care anymore. I was scared. Scared for the future, scared for my job security, scared my favorite game series in the world had fallen victim to what has happened to countless other beloved francishes.

But, you know? Even at its darkest, I still held out. Even when info was at its dryest point, and I was mad as hell at the Housers, I still retained a tiny bit of hope, somewhere deep, in the far recesses of my mind, I was still that kid that loved GTA.

Things are getting better now, we're getting more info that is slowly trickling out. I'm not as upset at the lack of updates anymore. I'm even starting to enjoy playing GTA4 again.

Maybe there is hope for the future.

Zee, are you okay? that seems a bit deep for you...

I read a lot comments from you and I already knew it since the first time I lurked this forums that even if you write "lazy Cockstar" or "Housers make 69" etc., you just say it because you're mad at them because they've disappoint you. Some people will probably write BS like "GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!" or GhostFase64 will read this and then write "The ammount of fanboyism is so high it's unbelievable and not funny anymore. Lock & Ban" etc. I think it's your choice. Maybe you should take games less serious. I agree with you that the Grand Theft Auto series is the best game series EVER. By the way I could have told you before the release of GTA IV that the gameplay won't make a revolution. It was the first GTA on RAGE and Euphoria and the first open-world game from Rockstar that was release for PS3 and XBox360. GTA V won't be a revolution either but I think it's safe to assume that it'll be so much better than GTA IV. You won't be disappointed. wink.gif

Nope. That's where Ubisoft is making the fatal flaw. They're releasing too much info. When you go to play AC3, you already know what to expect. With GTA V. No-one will know what the game will be like. This element of surprise makes GTA V appear more entising than AC3! 'Nuff Said!

I agree with this I've avoided a lot of information on Assassins Creed 3 for this reason. Some information however did slip through he net. Sure I could do the same with GTA V but the temptation would be to much plus some people like to spoil stuff for others. Like with GTA we don't need to know every detail about Assassins Creed 3 as we know what to expect.

exactly man.. imagine you didn't know about that naval battle thing and you'd encounter it in the game. That would be like WHOA this is awesome! Now, I feel as if it can only disappoint cause it does look rather 'on-railsy' if you know what i mean.

This is what I was talking about above. Sure it's not a big spoiler but still is a spoiler none the less. Thank you for showing respect for those who don't want to read/see any information to Assassins Creed 3. I still have no idea what you are talking about but you didn't leave much to the imagination. This same thing would happen with GTA V if to much information was shown. Not just on the games related forums but on any game forum. suicidal.gif

Don't worry, lads. I play other games as well. I have other interests besides GTA, just a great passion for it. For example, I love classic literature. I just a have a deep passion for GTA and view it in the same regard as many classic novels in Literature. It's my dream to oneday work on GTA games. Thankfully I have med school to fall back on. I've even begun working on a source mod to make an open world city-style game myself, since many have said I should take my ideas and try to make my own game. It's quite fun!

Yeah, Raynos pretty much sums it up there. If R* carry on like this until release, they simply wont maximise their sales. Nowhere near.

I dont remember being remotely 'spoiled' by any GTA info in the past, its always a more complete experience playing it than looking at trailers or screens.

I already have pointed out that a marketing campaign isn't as important as you might think. If it comes to this then Max Payne 3 should have sold 20 million copies and not just 2-3 million copies because it was the probably strongest promoted game of Rockstar ever. Sure, there will be a marketing campaign. I mean we've 6 months until March which is probably the month of the release. It should begin with the second trailer which I assume will be released this (or maybe next) month. Nobody knows. We'll see it.

You don't remember a GTA that was spoiled out? Do you remember how much info of GTA IV was revealed prior the release? Bud23 showed a link and this website showed that Rockstar revealed 50% of GTA IV. A few things weren't in the final game anymore. ocksar want to avoid exactly that with GTA V which is the reason of the little information policy. This time we can be sure that everything we've seen in the trailer, in the screenshots and in all future screenshots / trailer/s will be in the final game.

me personally im a bit annoyed at rockstars silence over this game as much as i do want it to be a surprise and not no every bit of information i would like to hear a bit more. has the silence affected your view of future games or current games like max payne i personally did not buy max payne basically because of the ignorance shown by rockstar over GTAV, could rockstars ignorance caused max payne to not sell as well?

what are your views?

Why do you call it "Rockstar's ignorance"?

They're just being very careful and selective about how and when they release info. The problem is many people want more from R* than they're willing to give. If you choose to get upset with R* it's because of your own ignorance.

For the last batch of screenshots, I wish they would have only released 2 per week over a 5 week period instead of all 10 in 1 week and then weeks of nothing.

I also wish they'd tell us a date that they'll show something or give us other information about the game. That way, we'd be able to look forward to something sort of like kids waiting for Christmas. Imagine if Christmas didn't fall on the same day each year. What if your parents just told you it's coming sometime soon in the near future? That would be torture and it's similar to what's happening here.

Even if they don't know when they'll be able to release something like a trailer, at least give us a simple screenshot on a regular basis and let us know when to expect it. What's so difficult about that?

I believe that V is 99.9% complete. The remaining percentage is Testing Phase. The reason of the so-called Silence probably serves the purpose of not to overshadow Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption (+ Undead Nightmare) which are likely still selling even if to a minimum.

If more information on V has not been officially given since the last screenshots, then surely R* considers that MP3 and RDR are not fully 'expired.'

Even though they claim not to concentrate on profit it seems logic that R* does not want GTA V to crush their most recent earlier games while their trend is still somewhat alive.

IMO.

This silence is because of Max Payne 3. But yes it is driving me crazy, I really hope we get new stuff until the end of September.

I think we all know that the ones complaining now about the lack of information about GTA V will be the first ones in row to buy it when it releases.

So anyone saying that they won't buy it because they had to wait too long: I don't believe you.

For me: it won't affect me. I would consider not buying GTA V when I had to buy a new console for it, but even then I don't think I'd be able to resist it. I hadn't bought GTA IV, so GTA V will be all mine.

Put V on the back burner, put Other things In life first on your priority list and see how fast you forget about V and how fast info comes in. Once your focusing on other things in life you'll totally forget about V and the faster it will seem the info gets released. It's like the saying goes, time flies when youre having fun. It's like staring at the clock all day in school, the more you watch the time the slower the day goes.

yep perfectly happy here.. If you're personally affected by Rockstar not giving you the info you want, maybe you need to check your priorities, ya know? why is it okay for gamers to act like spoiled children all the time.

spoiled children? rockstar have acted like the spoiled child not the fans, you only have to look at AC3 newsfeed no demanding like rockstar posts ubisoft have gave plenty of info, trailers, game play, everyone is just patiently waiting with a smile anyone who says there not let down when a unrelated GTAV post pops up is chatting sh*te in my view

lol This post reminds me of being in the store with my small child, screaming ''I don't care how much candy that other kid gets. I said NO.''

That's just how it is and it's not the end of the world either. When you finally do get that piece of figurative candy it's way more sweet and special than if you had got it right away.

Anyway, thanks for proving who the childish one here is.

Still beating the dead horse are we? Figures... To answer "theworldfamous'" question, which is "Why is it okay for gamers to act like spoiled children?"

The answer is simple: Most of them ARE spoiled children. The vast majority of the gaming industry (EA, Ubisoft, etc.) has, within the past five-six years or so, been doing nothing but cranking out sequels (which are now called franchises) as fast as they can (as quick as once a year) in order to maximize their profit margin and sucker people into buying what is, in fact, the same bs product they bought last year, but with some new moves and game modes added. They seem to have lost sight of the big picture in game design, which is to provide their customers entertainment in BOLD, NEW and continuously interesting ways. Nowadays, it's like an auto dealership. It's less of a subjective art form and more of a monopoly. The worst part: Most people are oblivious to this and will continue to buy into it.

The bottom line: Please, people, for your own sake and for the sake of everyone else's sanity (what little remains), have patience and know that it doesn't matter when they release it, or how the choose to market their product, that's their business and they've been incredibly successful in it for 15 years. Don't confuse the transaction by worrying about their overall sales either. The creators will be making that money, not you, nor I. The focus needs to be on the fact that Rockstar will have one hell of a game by the time it's released and I'm 100% sure we'll enjoy it for years to come.

Somebody call a dentist. We're in urgent requirement for a surgeon to remove Dan Housers foreskin from this guys teeth.

In all seriousness, is a simple release date so much to ask? It's been almost a year. They have to have the game finished to the extent where a date can be set without the possiblity of a delay surely.

Ya I would say the release date is a big deal, it's the biggest piece of info everyone wants, they're keeping the release date from everyone because they want ppl to keep coming back to the Newswire, forums, R* twitter etc. Keeping the hype alive. And they are doing a damn good job.
