Pay for parking

I was playing IV the other day and was cruising in my sexy purple Infernus, took her to the car wash and went to the park to have a look around. Then when I go back my sexy, just cleaned girl has disappeared! I was pretty angry about that.

So this made me think how to solve this problem. Why if there are parking spots outside your safehouse that will keep your car there no matter where you are on the map, why not have parking spots on the side of the road then? We could have parking meters to pay for a couple of hours. Here's how it could work.

Walk up to meter, press L1 to use the meter. A screen comes up showing the time meter. Press X to insert money.

One hour costs $4. Two X presses is 2 hours and costs $8.

Then the car is saved there so you can explore on foot for awhile. A message could come up on screen warning you the meter is nearly out of time, then if you leave it too long an inspector fines you $50 or wait even longer then a towtruck takes it away.

Another option would be a larger parking zone for lots of vehicles and it costs $200 to store each car there for up to 7 game days.

This would be another thing for us to spend money with and would save us from losing our sexy girls and make it more realistic.

To be honest I like to play gta for a bit of escapism. Paying for parking is a little bit too realistic. But saying that... Getting a trophy for stabbing 50 traffic wardens would be sweet.

Well, I would have a solution. Rockstar should do that if you or another player (for MP) is in the zone, the cars doesn't disappear. Because seeing a car disappear isn't very realistic.

I was thinking about that. If you got back to your car and the inspector was putting a ticket on your car if you kill him then you don't get a fine but you get a one star wanted level (if seen by LSPD) and I play gta for escapism too. I just feel that I miss seeing a lot of content by driving past everything. It's a different experience being on foot to look around at places than driving.

@AuSsIeThUnDeR36 Well, I think that could be a good feature. It's a little detail but it adds realism. By the way I laughed at the video in your signature. colgate.gif

Or the game could just remember the locations of the last 2 vehicles you have been in. I don't think that's too much to ask.

I wouldn't expect it to remember them if you reload the game etc, it would ony remember them as long as you were playing.

But safehouse parking needs some work from GTA4. Cars could and would disappear too often sometimes. Unless they can fix that, and they should be able to, then I'd want them to go back to garage storage, which I liked a lot more anyway.

Thanks bruh, just thought it would be a good idea so that we don't lose our best ladies. Not saying to walk everywhere on foot but sometimes I want to get out of the car and walk around to look at stuff and it's annoying to lose your car when you walk too far away. Im sure Rockstar can implement the idea in some way

You do realize that 2 hours in GTA time is about 2 minutes right? I'd go with 1 GTA day for $4 and 2 gta days for $8. That's much closer to 2 real time hours.

Good idea, but I'm not so sure about the message that warns you the whole time. Could get kind of annoying if you have too many cars parked all over.

As we can assume the character would have a smartphone in a modern setting, there could be an app that that stores the locations of the cars you parked?

Obviously you have to factor in things like cars being towed away after not having the meter payed enough etc.

But might be nice in short term sessions like you said when you want to go on foot and still keep track of your car (and not be unloaded from memory as it would normally be in older GTA games).

Looking at what is possible as far as the hardware is concerned: Saving a vehicle id+ other unique properties (color, liveries etc.) will take up very little space. However, saving the damage will take up quite a bit of space in that damage is unique and deforms the 3d mesh. But in GTAIV it already basically spawns a fresh car if you turn your console off and return to the saved spots, right?

I like the idea, but not all parkings need to use payment. Some parkings need to be free

And that's what it is, for an example in some big malls, it can be free parking and some can use payment.

That's a good idea, like mark the vehicle, if it isnt your own car if it is stolen I think you shouldnt be able to park it, just because the police would retrieve it (just disappear).

Once again I see someone suggest a mechanic that would punish someone for stealing a car in a game called GRAND THEFT AUTO! This isn't hard people, I should not be punished that badly for stealing a car in a crime game. f*ck that.

If R* at least adds the 4-5 car parking garage like the one in San Fierro in SA, I'll be happy. Something tells me that people are getting a lot of ideas from sleeping dogs though....

I dont want to be forced to pay for something thats worst than everyone complaining about gas, also this is not needed since gta games shouldnt be a "chore"

I think it would be more easy to have the possibility to buy cars. Every car should be available for sale, with a somewhat realistic price $6.000 cheap ones, several millions the rarest car. Bought cars will have the ability to not dissappear. Oh yeah, also, there should be a limit of bought cars, like 10, for hardware limitations (played around with car spawning in GTA IV on PC, and it crashed at around 50 on-screen cars).

You're joking right? (RE: Editing my post). We're on a GTA forum where everyone loves the game and plays lots and lots. Nevermind.

Can I at least have the text back so I can edit it and make it spoiler friendly? Or put it in spoiler tags.

For electrical vehicles, there is free parking at the airport of LA

http://www.lawa.org/welcome_lax.aspx?id=58

Also for motorcycles, inside the Central Terminal Area

I see. On the subject of airports, I hope the addition of more open areas, i.e. countryside/desert will result in people not always flocking to the airport like they did in GTAIV!!

I didn't save your post, no. Not really my priority. Writing a post with major GTAIV plot spoilers is no good, especially considering some parts in the game have different outcomes based on your decisions (so even players who played the game before might not have witnessed the things mentioned in your post). That's why I removed your post.

It's also very selfish in thinking that EVERYONE that reads posts on here have played GTAIV in its entirety. Best to avoid major spoilers, especially if they really had no correlation to what was being discussed here.

Of course! I've spent a lot of money in GTA San Andreas customizing my cars. I want to be able to keep that investment with me in exchange for a small price.

It's a good idea. I always hated getting a purple infernus (My fav car in the car) and getting out to get a gun in multiplayer, and right when I open the door, it disappears.

Yeah I was lucky to get that purple Infernus I found one being driven up near Playboy X mansion I was on foot at the time. Pure chance to grab one!

Rushing back to my car all the time sounds tedious. Just like real life so no.

Do like La Noire and have the last vehicle you drove (or the last two) stay where it is, marked with a little vehicle icon on the map. And if you finish a mission, it shows up parked across the street.

That's interesting because that game is new so it could be a feature we see in GTA. The problem is with that game was that you were a police officer so you are only expected to drive one car. Not go around stealing cars and doing whatever the hell you want. Therefore is was a good idea to mark it on the map and bring realism to the game; since it's on the map you're more likely to stick with that car.

I just want them to let us use cars we keep at safehouses. If I've saved a car then i want to be able to use it and still have it after a mission instead of fearing it disappears. No point saving a car if it's just going to disappear when I use it.

I'm very fussy about these sort of things, I like to have a limited amount of cars that I own in the game and I tend to improve my vehicle depending on the progression of the story. Like for example at the start of GTAIV I only ever drive around in Roman's cab but later on I drive my expensive sports cars and SUVs. That said, a system where vehicles never disappear is something I am very much hoping R* include in V.

That said, I think they done a pretty good job in IV anyway, even though it does disappear sometimes.

Why bother with parking spaces all over the city? Why not have the vehicles delivered to you wherever you are, like in EFLC?
