Deffpony
How would you guys feel about a mission paying homage to DB Cooper. I think it would be awesome to parachute out of a plane with $200K in the dead of night over a mountainous wilderness and having to find your way back to the city. In case you dont know who DB Cooper is: DB Cooper

John The Grudge
I recall watching a documentary about this. Some say he made it back to civilization (he parachuted from the plane down into the vast American wilderness) and some say he was likely bear food. This would be a great mission, assuming the countryside is big enough to make it a fair old trek for the player back to a safe house or a road. kj2022
that was actually a really good read, when i read DB Cooper i thought of Prison Break, I didn't know he was based on a real person. hell yes! i would love that mission!

œaœa
I didn't know DB Cooper was a real person. But I loved the actor who played him in Prison Break. Speaking of which, maybe that is the new direction? Going to prison.

Helsinki
At least it'd be a good way to utilise the mountainous area of the game. It'd make for an exciting mission for sure.

Deffpony
Well I never saw Prison Break but I heard they had a DB cooper character. I just think it would be really awesome to hijack a plane so to speak, get the FIB to give you 200,000 dollars, and then parachute out over the forrest. I would even go to say that it would be the best first mission outside of the city. This could be the mission that unlocks the countryside. Your first encounter with the country side is when you parachute out into the forest with a brief case full of cash in the dead of night. You have to find your bearing and get back to civlization on foot. Would be awesome because you wouldnt know where u were. It would be the first time you were in the countryside. Lioshenka
That's a brilliant idea! And thanks for posting that wiki link, really useful. Now I really want to have this type of mission in GTA, highjacking a plane and escaping the FBI in the woods... Nice!
Deffpony
Whats funny is they could do this mission and most peole wouldnt even get the reference. These are te things that excite me about V. With more environments there is much more mission possiblities.
jamieleng
Nah. Just a skeleton with an unopened parachute on its back, lying next to a suitcase full of cash in the woods would suffice.

The whole movie is based around finding DB Cooper's treasure. I'm just saying, it would be cool to look out while you're parachuting and see Seth Green in the distance getting carried away by a bear. DarrinPA
I'd really like to see GTA's take on the situation. If it was GTA SA, they could have made The Truth's backstory a little crazy - he used to be an agent on the "inside" then decided to leave it all behind after going for one big heist. He would have been the perfect age, or even Toreno. that was actually a really good read, when i read DB Cooper i thought of Prison Break, I didn't know he was based on a real person. hell yes! i would love that mission! Prison Break's reference to D.B. Cooper was done quite well. The first time I heard of D.B. Cooper was on a talk-radio show, I was just a little kid but fascinated by the story. When Prison Break used the story I was surprised because I didn't know how big of a legend this guy was.

Capricornus
I hate to admit that I have not heard of DB Cooper prior to this thread. After reading the OP, I say this is a great idea and I would love if it were implemented. If not, then we could always recreate it ourselves. pilot2fly
This could actually work really well in GTA5. Perhaps after robbing a bank, the main character (you) tries to get away in a jet (airplanes are confirmed, we just don't know how many or all the types) and perhaps has to parachute to get away from the authorities. DB Cooper is a huge legend in aviation and in the crime scene. There have been many theories over the years, and some research has found that he likely survived the parachuting and made it back to Earth. Not really sure what happened after that, and we may never know for sure.
