Patrizio
ultimatelizardman- I'm interested why you think chainsaws would ruin realism, but flamethrowers don't? Chainsaws are a common everyday tool most people would have access too. While they're cumbersome obviously I don't see how they're any less realistic than flame throwers are. A chainsaw would actually be one of the most realistic weapons simply because of how easy they're to obtain. I can go to my local hardware and buy a chainsaw. Where can I buy a flame thrower? Can just see it - "Alright mate, can I have a Chainsaw? Oh, and a couple of packets of chewing gum. Actually and some stamps mate. Oh, and how much is the flamethrower out of interest?" Few eyebrows raised from the bloke behind the counter!

I'd also use the chainsaw to cut up the shrimps for the barby mate.

I'd also use the chainsaw to cut up the shrimps for the barby mate. Haha not at all . We'd say it the same in old Blighty mate! Back on topic - after playing RDR recently and seeing the visible lacerations the knife causes, I see no reason to not include the Katana/Machete/Meat Cleaver in V. The Chainsaw is a bit different on the other hand. It didn't lead to dismemberment previously so doesn't have to in V I guess?
suburbanite
It wouldn't matter to me if they brought them back. Those kinds of weapons are played out now anyways. Just look at Saints Row. That game is basically all about trying out a bunch of SUPER WACKY, WILD AND CRAZY ways to completely destroy people. Not that there is anything wrong with that but its just kind of played out and it was done the best on San Andreas years ago.
JoeM
Yep, Chainsaw's, Spray Paint, screwdrivers, flame throwers plus more should make a return. Infact if they had every weapon from every GTA available that would be perfect thanks.

HOAXi
Bring back all that stuff mentioned by OP, pluss chainsaw, screwdriver, minigun, flamethrower, brass knuckle, police baton (was it in IV? Can't remember), baseball bat, golf club, machete and rhino. Other weapons should also appear like the ninja-star, nunchaku, axe, pickaxe, teargas/pepperspray, taser, stun gun, hammer, sledgehammer, butcher knife, bayonet attached to assault rifle, silencer, expandable baton, kamas, blowgun with poisoned darts, cross bow, spade, rock, bottles, different knives including a butterfly knife, smoke grenade, stun grenade, tear gas grenade, crowbar... + a bunch of modern police and military shooting weapons, suits, armour and a riot shield. Wouldn't hurt. It's a game. It would be fun. A server should of course be able to turn off the weapons it doesn't want.

With how realistic peds react in GTA IV I think it would be disturbing and less comical. Still I'd love to have the chainsaw back.

Still I'd love to have the chainsaw back. Good point there. They developed the gore and ped reactions further in RDR, with bullet holes, knives sticking out of heads and visible lacerations from a knife, so I think they could still do the chainsaw even without dismemberment. They had dismemberment in GTA III - do you think they'd get away with it with the modern graphics of V?
significantother
Just so everybody knows, the reason these weapons weren't included was because Rockstar was learning the engine for the game. But now since all of these weapons have returned in Chinatown Wars, well except the Katana I think, I'm sure we will be seeing them in V. Oh yeah, and bring back the Miniguns too. Hell, you know what, throw in the R.P.G. rocket launcher as well.

What!?! That is probably one of the more senseless things I've seen written here. You do know what happens to someone in real life when they get hit by a powerful enough explosion or by high caliber weapons? Apparently not... Watch this video. (Warning very graphic) The 30mm chaingun literally turned those guys into blood smears. That's Realism! Most people here want realistic gore unless they are squeamish or just don't have any desire for it. You have some growing up to do little man. inflamedeyeball
Bring all of them back. I kept waiting for the awesome weapons the first time I played IV, but they weren't there. Big disappointment. I doubt they will bring back the handheld minigun though. The only reason we think of those weapons as being able to be handed and fired by a man is Terminator 2 and Predator. They are too heavy to be lifted (John Mctiernan said on Predator's commentary track that the thing was lifted by a crane) and with the rate those weapons fire the T-800 should have ran out of bullets in 4 seconds. I really want ole painless back however, GTA is very unrealistic by nature and I don't care. I want my games to be fun. I'm just weird that way. Using the katana or shooting someone in the head with a sniper rifle would make their head disappear and blood would spurt out of their necks. If I chop off the head of someone it should be laying on the ground. The same would go with sniper rifles, only high caliber rounds can bust a person's head apart. I want realistic gore.
