To me the mini gun shouldn't handheld. Too unrealistic. The Recoil would knock you on your ass and even if you could take the recoil it would far too inaccurate to be useful. It should be vehicle mounted only.

Too unrealistic.

Uh, yeah. Watch this mission then get back to me on realism. SPOILER ALERT!!!

Yes, I can see how concerned rockstar was with realism when they made that f*cking mission.

I really like the missions in tbogt but the story was meh to me. This is how I see it. GTA IV has a really good story but boring mission gameplay. TBoGT has an okay story and super fun mission gameplay.

GTA fan from the United Kingdom

I would like to see Samurai Swords and Flamethrowers make a return, plus new weapons such as:

- Stun Gun

- Machete (From Vice City)

- Pepper Spray

- Kosh

- Lighter

Would be good if you could pick up objects and use them as weapons like you could in IV but be able to pick up bigger objects such as chairs, TVs, Tires, Tills, Frying pans, Car stereos to add to the fun and humour biggrin.gif

Leave the chainsaws out.  The thought of doing that to somebody gives me the chills.

Especially with the violence being ALOT more realistic this time around. I'm all for chainsaws, flamethrowers and katanas returning nonetheless.

Dude, it is a game, also remember how IV was not as realistic as it pretended to be, the handheld minigun is a staple of the series, it is a must

I know it's a game. I just prefer miniguns to be vehicle mounted. There are lots of other hand held weapon I would prefer to see over a handheld minigun and no I don't want GTA to be super realistic just practical. To me Hand held mini guns are better suited for vehicles. I'd rather see M-240s and other GPMG/LMG serve that purpose.

What are you? 8yrs old!?! f*ck OFF! You're whining a about a video game!! If you want play that childish crap in SA they play that. I'm voicing my opinion on what I like. If you disagree then be a f*cking adult about it! Otherwise KILL YOURSELF! The world has more than enough whiny pussies around. One less would be a godsend.

Your point... Predator was a good movie. I just didn't like any of the more over the top weapons in the 3 era. I grew up! When I was 17-20 it was funny but now it's just stupid. I'm glad GTA went in the right direction even though the weapons choices were limited.

Uh, yeah. Watch this mission then get back to me on realism. SPOILER ALERT!!!

Been there, done that. Enjoyed that mission because it was on the right side of over the top. Creating Mayhem on that was a lot of fun. But I don't see any miniguns there so fail to see the issue you have with me. I don't want 100% realism, I just don't want a return to the 3 era.

TheShogunOfHarlem so basically what you say is that you don't care that it destroy fun for others, but it suits you just fine?...egoism at its best...why don't you just not pick Miniguns up if it bothers you all that much, its not like its used by everyone in game and thus making it easy to access it...so whats the freaking problem??! you just don't want something in this game, because you don't want others to have it or something?!...

It's a f*cking opinion!! What don't you get you moron!! It's my right to state what I want out of a game as much as you do, if you disagree with me then do so as a frigging adult. If you are going to cry about my opinion then maybe you shouldn't be a message board let alone communicate with people. If you are stupid enough to believe anyone here has any say on what R* is going to put in GTA 5 then you are not just a socially inept moron you are delusional. What's worse is that you project your massive ego on me by assuming that every single GTA fan wants what you want, bullsh*t! Just because you believe that what you consider to be fun the rule doesn't make it fun to many others but that beside the point. You are still whining like a child who isn't getting his way and you are coming across as a pathetic baby. GROW UP!

Who care about practicality? Just Cause 2 didn't when it let me vehicle surf airplanes. SR2 didn't when it let me go into an arena with a monster truck and blow it up. Just because you want everything to be "Practical" doesn't mean everyone else does. Yes, you have a right to an opinion. You do not have the right to not have it challenged. Practicality? I say that goes out the window in GTA. Even IV's BOGT addon had you steal a train. That doesn't seem too "Practical".

IMO The Advanced MG is enough for the mini gun.

No to flamethrowers and chainsaws, never use them.

But i DO want the Katanas after watching Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction this summer.

Well, honestly if you want a good look at why I often get very defensive and irrational over issues of realism, you need only look at this page of this topic: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=468266&st=360

And most of my posts in this one. http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=501937

But please do understand that I don't want a flame war any more than you do. I just, well, look at this article. http://www.cracked.com/article_19999_5-tru...nrealistic.html

Plus, I really just enjoy carrying a minigun and shooting it at people. I don't really care that in real life the recoil would bounce you everywhere. I think the vastly improved environment and pedestrian behavior and working public transportation and all that will make up for it.

I believe that I posted in one of the fuel threads stating that adding fuel would be one of the more pointless elements of realism to add to a GTA game. Didn't even bother posting in the hunger thread since that idea might be even stupider than fuel.

My only call for realism is combat mechanics, animations and weapons. Rate of fire, going prone, Gore and practical (and some unpractical) weapons. For some reason hand held miniguns don't have the same appeal to me like they used to even in movies. Go Figure.

I think the weapons should return, just to give the game more variety and things to kill peds with. To answer some other questions about how you feel about killing people in GTA IV. Honestly didnt care i probably killed more people in GTA IV than the older ones because the animations were cooler to watch. No im not a psycho its just a game remember and if u can detach ur self then its fine.

I want to hear what other fans who started to play the games before GTAIV also think of this. Because the games are now more realistic in its art, and not lower quality stylized art, things feel different when you, for instance, just run someone over.

Think of how South Park would have felt if they had gone for realistic art. They get to do all these crazy things, but you don't feel sick about it because the art is so stylized and unrealistic.

Do some of you also feel that this is a drawback with having more realistic art in GTA/games? It's only natural that they moved this way, but if you think about how you played GTA3/Vice/San Andreas vs GTAIV do you guys also sometimes try to avoid running people over etc.? Or like with the chainsaw example. It will just feel different.

I realize it's all a game but there's a different feeling. When I saw the GTAV screenshot of a guy flying a fighter jet in a suit.... I remember thinking how unorthodox and weird it looks because it's not the kind of thing you ever see. Then I realized, but wait a minute, I've seen this before with CJ in San Andreas. I guess the fact that it looks so much more realistic made me look at it in a weird way.

...

It's not a drawback at all. It's a good thing.

The other option would be to make it less realistic so it isn't as shocking.

It SHOULD be a big deal to shoot someone, let alone kill them with a chainsaw. Realism makes it more immersive rather than having the player passively massacre people.

It's like comparing an over-the-top hack-and-slash cartoon scene to a realistic drama in which the character shoots someone for the first time.

(For lack of a better analogy)

I don't care if it's unrealistic, just bring them all back for the fun factor. If you feel it's to gorey to chainsaw someones face, refrain from doing it. I don't like the chainsaw because it is too bulky and a close range weapon, I always run everywhere so like a light weight mele weapon. Flamethrowers and swords are well cool.

It would be cool if whatever you can pickup off the ground can become a weapon. (not just throwing it.)

this I want. Not just some zany weapons choices, but everything a weapon:

my answer to your question:

- flamethrowers: yes, but you should not be allowed to store them in your inventory (RPGs and machine guns should have the same restriction), however you should be able to store them in the trunk of a car/van/truck/other suitably large vehicle.

- swords: yes, they definately need to return. at the very least least a bastard sword and a katana should be included.

- chainsaws: no, this would hurt the realism of GTA V as they are very impractical if used as weapons in real life.

They need to go a bit saints row/ dead rising and make it so anything that can be picked up can be used.

ultimatelizardman- I'm interested why you think chainsaws would ruin realism, but flamethrowers don't? Chainsaws are a common everyday tool most people would have access too. While they're cumbersome obviously I don't see how they're any less realistic than flame throwers are.

A chainsaw would actually be one of the most realistic weapons simply because of how easy they're to obtain. I can go to my local hardware and buy a chainsaw. Where can I buy a flame thrower?
