On topic: I can't do it, becaue my gamestop does not have mid-night sales.

I'll likely spend more time in line on Black Friday than for the GTAV release. I live in a city of approx. 35,000 and will probably preorder from Wal-Mart (biggest store in town) or just pick up at our local Fred Meyer's (somewhat smaller, nicer version of Wal-Mart. It's part of Kroger) if Wal-Mart is being anti GTA. Wal-Mart provides guaranteed copy on hand for the first 10 days after release if you pre-order. Also, they are open 24 hours a day so they will likely have a number of people hanging around at midnight, but certainly not enough people to buy out their stock. I did a midnight release at the closest mall (30 miles away) for IV and there were an astounding 10 or 15 people in line! Hah! Either way, I might show up to wherever an hour or two early, depending on how anxious I am, not because of lines though.

 

Now, if they release the Steam version at the same time, I might have a hard time choosing between a Steam copy and a physical copy, but I'm probably more likely to be able to re-install Steam games in the future than find my installation disc.

I didn't play GTA 4 first 2 days after release and, you know, nothing disastrous happened.

I'll just be getting it after school that day. The real question is, what time will I get it?

 

If I can find a friend to tag along with (probaly will), I will get the game whenever they do. Hopefully they go right after school, in which case I'll have GTAV by around 3:30-4:00.

But if none of my friends are getting GTAV on release day after school, then I'll have to wait until my dad gets home which is 7pm.

 

Who knows, I may even get it at midnight and take the day of school off. I need a release date to know my plans for sure.

 

So best case scenario, I have it around 1am. Worst case scenario I have it at 7:30pm.

I actually have a life, so I will not be camping outside any store just to buy a game, as much as I love GTA.

 

For GTA V, I would simply pre-order it at the game store where they would reserve it for me, and then I would come in to collect it on the release date. Simple.

April 29th 2008 I remember when IV went to sale and there wasn't that many people buying it. In fact there wasn't even a line. I remember the games store employees were warning parents that it's not a kids game because there were parents there and brought their little ten yr old with them

Yea, they were doing the same thing when I was buying IV. Of the 15 people in line 5 were kids and 5 were their parents. One guy was buying it for his 5 year old because they liked to play it together. Far be it for me to tell others how to live their lives, but to me that is just bad parenting!! GTA is for adults and I'm sure there are those out there who are mature enough to handle it at a younger age, but anything under 10, at minimum, I don't see as being emotionally ready. Of course, there are quite a few adults I know which aren't mature enough to play GTA.

I'll pre-order, but I'm not sure if I'll go to a midnight release. It depends on my sleep schedule at the time. I went to the midnight release for IV at Best Buy about an hour early. The line wasn't long when I got there.

I think people are quickly learning that it simply isn't worth it to "camp" out on the damned street for the privilidge of getting something a few hours earlier than most. Many of the people on these lines are obnoxious, disrespectful idiots who will trample anyone in their way once the doors fly open. Furthermore, i NEVER prepay for any game, because no matter how much they tell you that they can't guarantee that there will be enough copies available, there ALWAYS are. I have never had a problem finding a copy of any game later in the day.

I might go an hour before. no games except for gta has had lines in my city. when gta iv came out it made lines at wally world and gamestop but even then it wasnt too many people according to my sisters bf (i was like 13 still playing ps2 so i didnt go)

Maybe about 7PM in my time zone (North American Eastern Time). I'll probably leave the car running most of the time to prevent my stereo from draining the battery. Only in the months of late May, June, July, August, and early September is A/C usually necessary, so fuel wastage won't be severe. This is, if I have my G2 by then.
