Pyrrhic
weak... and Autralians let themselves be patronized by their government like this..? I also gather immigration rules are pretty draconian as well. I though you were cool, Australia! What happened? They were cool, for about 5 mins in the 80's. Only joking Aus. No. It's just that the bloody ranga won't listen to the public. She puts in a bloody stupid carbon tax, and mining tax, decides to make herself thing she's a really good PM, and won't force and election right now. If she did, she would lose, and she knows it. This. That bloody woman did nothing for this country. In fact for me it just seems like it is always Labour's fault . I'm still waiting for my laptop that Kevin Rudd promised every student 5 years ago. They can go shove Julia and their retarded board of 60 year olds up their ass. Pyrrhic
if a game gets banned couldnt you just order it from the us or something It's not the fact that it's I can't buy the game legally here that gets me worked up, it's the fact that the government is censoring so much sh*t over here and it's completely unnecessary. You don't see any of this kind of sh*t go down anywhere else except for North Korea, that's what we're going to turn into if they keep their crappy board of 60 year olds who think they know about the video game industry. Bomberlegend
I think this is an overreaction. If it does get a RC, it will have to be edited so that is passes a R18 rating. If anything, the edits will be less than previous games. And it will look weird if GTAIV is allowed for sale, but GTAV won't be?

Foniks
I think people are worrying too much here. Sure if it gets banned it's a massive f*cking inconvenience and a load of bullsh*t from the government (f*ck Julia!), but we will all still get our hands on the game and it wont be a reduced version like IV. BB Guns, fireworks and things of that nature have been banned for ages now and yet they're available here. Somehow I got a BB gun through customs on my way home from Europe a few years back, imagine getting a video game through. Point is this; we will get it regardless, whether it be by importing from England (not US as it's NTSC), downloading if you have a modded console, creating US accounts and i'm sure there will be more ways. Personally, I don't think it'd be banned but if it does I know it wont stop me from getting it.
ExtremoMania
Though I am a Filipino, I will show remorse for every Aussie getting disappointed if the Australian government banned the release of GTA V. Why is the Australian government beckoned itself to be more conservative and somewhat so strict in policies?

SNIT01
It isn't going to be banned in Australia, we now have an R18 rating, & the only reason that the government banned IV was because there wasn't a sufficient rating for the game. @Dr. Zoidberg Julia Gillard was the one who implemented the R18 rating, and Kevin Rudd was the one who begun an inquiry into changing the rating system. infact it was the conservatives (liberal/nationals) who were against an R18 rating and in particular GTA IV. Well it's not Julia gGillard that enforces the R18+ rating, it's her board of retarded 60 year olds who know nothing about video games whatsoever. They fail to realise the adults (sane ones at least) can actually control themselves and won't go on a rampage gunning down everyone in their sight. As someone else mentioned, it's like banning cars because it's dangerous for children to drive them.
Australia
Game classification and price, compulsory bicycle helmet laws, alcohol and tobacco legislation, horrible public transport fare issues (Melbourne) and passenger restrictions for P plate drivers (1st year license). Nanny's lost her marbles and putting the smack down. All of those things are the way they are for very good reasons, bar game classification. (I can't comment on Melbourne transport issues). Chances are if GTA V is said to cross the boundaries of the classification, the game would be edited like GTA 4 was because it would be lost sales for Rockstar.
