andyrob89
I always thought the Aussie's were quite liberal around these kinds of things Sucks that you guys will have to import it though.
Wayne Daniels
This topic gets me everytime, my blood is boiling just thinking about it. I'm telling you, if our government bans GTA V, there gon' be alot more violence than if they didn't ban it. BUT lets go down this road when the time comes, no point getting all worked up for no reason. Edit: Didn't the government pass the R18 rating? Official General
I couldn't give too much of a sh*t anyway, I don't live in Australia. Although I'd feel sorry for gamers there if GTA V was banned though.
aaronimpact
I don't think it would get banned, it would just get edited like GTA IV. But then you would get the uncut version via an online patch.
ChillyPhilly
I could be wrong here. But I somehow can't see V being banned, particularly if the R18+ rating gets going.
LotusRIP
I think many of you have been severely misinformed. When has a GTA ever been banned in Australia? I'm an Aussie and have been buying GTA games since Vice City's release. The only time I can think of is when they pulled GTA3 off the shelves temporarily. GTA4 was not banned, so GTA5 won't be either. If anything, with the upcoming R18+ rating, they might be more lenient if there is any additional content that somehow makes V more offensive than IV ... by the way, the biggest cut from the game was prostitutes and blood drips, which to be honest, I didn't even notice was removed (and then later put back in via online patch anyway) Edited September 13, 2012 by LotusRIP
uJhatafart00
oh, gosh! sorry for you aussies fans, anyway i think there will be another way to get it. So, keep calm, R* won't allow this to happen, they would lose too much money

While some minor details have been removed (and later restored via online patch), GTA has never been a problem down here in Australia... no bans at all... Adriaan
@aaronimpact Thanks for that. It seems like everyone in this topic is "utterley" stupid. While some minor details have been removed (and later restored via online patch), GTA has never been a problem down here in Australia... no bans at all... Laws can change all the time. While this is an extreme example, think of the prohibition period in the United States where the sale and use of alcohol was banned for 10 years. If you read the new guidelines in full, you will see that it certainly has changed. Also, on the "no bans at all" part. That is not true. GTA3 was banned in Australia, and Rockstar had to implement a few edits to make it available for release again. San Andreas was temporary banned as well, then again, it was all over the world after Hot Coffee. Also, if I'm not mistaken, moderators have warned you twice now for your insults to other members. We'd all appreciate it if you tone it down a bit Edited September 13, 2012 by Adriaan

Adriaan
This is a very uneducated observation on the matter, but I've often gotten a similar vibe in Australia to that of the bible belt in America. I've often heard how American country music is very popular among many Australians, and that conservative views and values is what makes up the majority. I think there's a conservative party in office now? So yeah, if that is true, it's no surprise considering the sort of conservative views towards video game content in the past in America. That, and also the bigoted hate towards Muslims by some Australians (watched a documentary on it a couple years back), which is sort of similar to the extreme conservatism in America today. That, and also the bigoted hate towards Muslims by some Australians (watched a documentary on it a couple years back), which is sort of similar to the extreme conservatism in America today. Wow, talk about being disappointed... Not to get in an argument here, but being critical of the very conservative majority of Muslims has nothing to do with "bigoted hate" (or video games, for that matter). Why would die-hard conservatives with their anti-woman and anti-gay agenda have anything against a group of people who agree with them?
Adriaan
@Helsinki Hhhmm... I think you misunderstood what I was alluding to. I realize now I probably shouldn't have brought it up. What I was saying is that I saw a documentary on increased hate by white right wing conservatives in Australia towards Muslims, and making parallels to similar bigotry in America. Some stupid observation by me of how there's a similar interest in things like American country music and very conservative values and views on social things, and that through those mutual believes further parallels could be drawn like conservative views towards video game content. But yeah, sorry for going off-topic on that part. Edited September 13, 2012 by Adriaan

Demoniku22
I don't know how everything works over there, but I can say banning on one market is full blown out retarded. The reason I say this is that im sure you guys have alot of action and horror movies over there with drug use, violence, and nudity all GTA does is move it into a single title. I live in the U.S. and even im a lil disgruntled they would do something like that to you guys, but I got my fingers crossed for you and hope that they wouldn't pull such a sh*ty move. futo-GT
If it is f*cking banned over here I will officially be the most pissed off person on GTAF. It is utter bullsh*t if it is and I will f*ck the government's brains out if they do. Either way I'm blaming it on Julia. Dude if its banned in Australia why not just get it imported from New Zealand? both countries ps/xbox systems run on the same coding.

S1LV3R_W0LF
I think politics from all over the world should start caring more abut the important things in their country then laws to allow of forbid any kind of entertainment. Maybe if they played more games when they were young instead of learning how to be corrupt MOFO's, they could understand that a game is a game and only retards like them think a game will be the cause for anything. People already have the "knowledge" for crimes from the movies and specially from the news. Nowadays politics create organizations and groups to stick their nose in everything, although they don't do anything right in any of them. All they know is too be corrupt and lie to everyone. Rating a game for adults I agree, but forbid it even for adult people is stupid, unless they think adults aren't clever enough to take care of themselves and need their "protection" from the world.
