r0ck3t0wn3r
What about digital downloads on consoles too? Well guess that's out the window as well.PS3 is region free yes, the 360 however is not. Fortunately UK has the same region code as 360 and there is a shop tailored to selling games to Australia for less from the UK for both ps3 and 360, so if anyone needs a reputable place here it is. - http://www.ozgameshop.com/ DLC works fine as i have some games from there that i didn't want on release date or as a download, but i hear some games DLC doesn't function properly when bought from overseas. I should also add that shipping is usually in excess of two weeks. Haven't bought from ozgameshop yet but i have bought from www.dungeoncrawl.com.au/ Twice and both times i got it the next day or the day after, coincidently both of the games was LA Noire (one for xbox, one for PS3). I ordered RDR GOTY edition from Zavvi UK & it took 5 days to arrive. In my tiny country it took an online retailer 5 days. EBay sellers live & die by repeat business & good feedback, so you're likely to get a better service. That's true, but i have had some issues with ebay and things not arriving and sellers being a total pain in the ass. But i guess that's what you get, take the risk and get is a little sooner, or play it safe and wait a little longer.

I'd prolly be able to get it within 1 week if i order it on a sunday or monday.

I also gather immigration rules are pretty draconian as well. I though you were cool, Australia! What happened? They were cool, for about 5 mins in the 80's. Only joking Aus. arsenal_fan
What I don't understand is that they only edit R 18+ a little bit like the did with GTA IV as they edited out the camera being able to see Niko having sex with a hooker in a car. So they get rid of that and they go from not allowing it to making it a MA 15+ games, so 15 year old kids can play it shooting everyone and causing massacres? What is the logic of that? And if it does then I'll order it from the UK

No. It's just that the bloody ranga won't listen to the public. She puts in a bloody stupid carbon tax, and mining tax, decides to make herself thing she's a really good PM, and won't force and election right now. If she did, she would lose, and she knows it. Nope. I've not had XBL until early this year, and i've always had blood pools, bloody tire tracks + foot prints, and blood on niko. Not sure what you mean about the camera thing though. Knife
It doesn't sound to me like GTA infringes on any of those things. The drugs part is about making drugs seem appealing or using them as a reward, something GTA doesn't do. The violence part is about the "detailed instruction or promotion" of crimes. That would be something like detailing and teaching the actual methods to hot-wire a car rather than just the inclusion of hot-wiring cars in the game. Sound to me like GTA V will get the new 18 rating without any cuts.

But i guess it depends on how the board looks at it.

Otherwise what is an 18 rated game? I think that the R18+ rating isn't really about playing adult games it's about not allowing minors to play it. Kids can play MA15+ with parental guidance, but under no circumstances are they allowed to play R18+ games or even watch R18+ films.

Doland J. Trump
Let's be honest here, does anyone really follow the ratings anymore? I mean i watched scarface when I was 12 and I've watched many other R18 movies since then eg. goodfellas, casino etc. and I haven't turned out like some niko bellic or tommy vercetti. Do they really matter anyway? Edited September 13, 2012 by SlavicAssasin224
Algonquin Assassin
Meh. I'll just get the U.K version like VC if that's the case. It would be a punch to the nuts though. I'm 26 and a game like GTA is too much even for me? Give me the job classifying the games. I'd give everyone a joint and pack of rubbers with every copy of GTA V. r0ck3t0wn3r
I watch R18 movies Well if you are a minor, (Not that there's anything wrong with that i'm 18 myself) It's more that your parents can't say that the game caused you to shoot your cat with a BB gun. It's to protect the developers asses and the government ass.
mvega0422
Damn, it comes as a pretty big shock to me that there are still first-world countries out there trying to determine the kinds of media a person can entertain themselves with. Very weird - and somewhat saddening - that the government over there can just censor such a world famous franchise.
TheGTAHell97
That sounds terrible. But my country never had these "bans", maybe due to the government's lack of awareness. I've seen children as young as 6 years old play GTA SA. An evidence of the government's "stupidity". My country also lacks original games. Game piracy here is ALMOST compulsory. PC and Xbox games are pirated and PS3 games are downloaded. The Xbox sold here are flashed when purchased. I just hate it because it disables my ability to join XBL. GourangaMaster
Fark me dead what a pointless exercise. Any wiff of drug related gameplay and these old basterds are going have a pms attack. Worse part is if its banned theres no online play, one of the man things i loved doing after finishing GTAIV was jumping online an running amok in freeroam with some mates. and wtf "detailed instructions amd promotions of violence" thats like every farkin FPS game ever released. I guess its okay to massacre people as long as its in the reasonable justification of warfare on arabs and assasinations by skinheads in suits. ClareXoBearrx3R9
It seems to me that they simply refuse to accept that a game can be made for adults only. Obviously an adult can not be driven to commit crime by playing a game. At least not a mentally well adult. Nor are their morals tainted by playing violent games. So it's clear to me that such harsh measures are designed with children in mind. It's a little like banning cars because it's dangerous when children drive them. Really there's no way to justify these measures in a logical manner. Simply put, it's stupid. These measures are designed by individuals with no understanding of the gaming industry or the games themselves. They're decisions are based on their baseless, totally subjective opinions and dubious, if any, research. This. Well said and I completely agree. Cyfa
That's pretty dumb. I always hear Australia is a great country in terms of Government, but yet they won't let a game like GTA come through? I don't understand that at all. If they're so concerned about certain games why don't they just check their criminal history/mental status. "Has said customer been to a mental hospital for homicidal thoughts within the past 3 years?" "Does said customer have a criminal history that involves manslaughter, homicide, extreme domestic abuse, assault or breaking and entering?" I'm just saying it's probably better to do that rather than banning a game.
