fleetstdemon
Hey all. I am aware that there are threads all over the web about this mission but they are all quite old so i decided to make my own. I bought a copy of San Andreas v2 for the PC last year. Before that i had always played it on the PS2 with absolutely no problems with any mission, except for what would normally expect, such as lots of attempts at getting the highest rating in driving/flight school etc. I bought the PC version with the main purpose of modding it however i decided a few days ago to replay the game properly on my laptop. Now the specs of my laptop are: P320 AMD Athlon 2 x2 @2.1 ghz, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 (256mb card), 4gb DDR3 RAM @1066 Mhz, Windows 7 Home Premium. Correct me if i am wrong but as far as i am aware my laptop exceeds the recommended reqs. The problems i am facing are both erratic performence and crippling input lag. Now as i said, i bought the pc version for modding purposes and did use a downgrader and applied a no disc crack at one point, however, i am experiencing these issues on both downgraded/modded installs and clean installs. I usually use a usb controller for this game as i prefer that to keyboard/mouse in this game. The one i use is a cheap one from the G.A.M.E store. It has worked perfectly in all other games i have tried. In san andreas however i get hit with erratic, but severe, input lag. The thing is though i get the same issue when using kb/m. I am currently on cweet's mission to meet cesar, the lowrider "dance". I have already, with some difficulty, beat og loc's "life's a beach" misson, but i am finding this mission impossible and i think it has to do with the erratic performence of the game and the erratic input lag. I really want to get into the game but it is infuriating me that i can pass this mission, which seems so easy on the PS2. Does anyone have any suggestions that would help me either solve the issues thats making it difficult to get the timing down for this mission or any other ideas that would aid me in passing this annoyimg mission? Any help would be appreciated as it will save me from having to buy a new laptop when my hand invariably goes through the screen due to a stupid dancing car! Miro
Cracks don't help. You see, the title "timing issue" led me to an interesting conclusion. You see, I've had this problem too, when the arrows in the "Life's a Beach" and "Cesar Vialpando" missions kept on skipping the circle, or were just "stepping" instead of flowing. I solved this by removing the gta_sa.set file located in the San Andreas User Files folder. You see, mods could have affected this. As you said, you had mods installed, and the data of those mods was saved in the .set file which obviously stands for settings. Now, by removing that file, you get rid of the damaged data, but you also lose all controls you've edited. Try it out, if your issue is the same as mine, it should work. lil weasel
If you have Problems with Cesar Vialpando ARROWS: Make sure your Keyboard - Repeat Delay is SHORT & Repeat Rate is FAST (Start/Control Panel/Keyboard) Since your using a GamePad (} You may also try: Turning off the Frame Limiter. Using a Lower screen Resolution for the mission.
fleetstdemon
Hey, thanks for your replies and suggestions. I have tried a couple of fixes. One i attempted was deleting the gta_sa.set file. I went to documents/gta san andreas user files and found two folders. One was user tracks and the other was gallery. Unfortunately, they were both empty. I think i am looking in the wrong place, could you point me in the right direction? Also, i've tried turning off the frame limiter but it had quite a large negative effect on the performence of the game. The erratic framerate/timings/acceleration in vehicles, became much worse. Bizarrely, it seems the higher the display settings are, the better the performence is much improved I've also tried turning down detail settings, resolution, draw distance etc but nothing i have tried has improved the situation My health is unfortunately quite poor at the minute. When that happens to me, my problem solving skills, and some of my basic common sense, goes out the window, so there are bound to be obvious things i am missing. Please bear with me if i seem to ask about, or miss, some basic solutuions Do you guys have anything else i can try as well as a pointer in the direction to the location of the gta_sa.set file? EDIT: I haven't tried adjusting my keyboard settings. I'll give that a go. Edited September 12, 2012 by fleetstdemon
lil weasel
The gta_sa.set file should be where the Save Game Files are. Search for *.b files. (star dot b) The User Track Files are for you own music to play on the readio. And, the Gallery is for the snap-shots that CJ takes with his camera. But, you already knew that. fleetstdemon
Still can't find that gta_sa.set file. I've looked everywhere and ran searches for *.b files and gta_sa.set but it turns up nothing. I don't know what else to do to find it. I want my gta sa fix!!! I really wanted to play on the pc but it looks like i'm stuck with the ps2.
Shoumaker
C:\Users\Public\Documents\GTA San Andreas User Files The gta_sa.set should be there.
Spider-Vice
Disabling the Frame Limiter sometimes might be worse because you won't have time to make the sequence most of the times as the game just rushes that at the fastest speed it can. Also, you might have the bug where the save/settings files are saved in the game's data folder, so try going to your Program Files folder, Rockstar Games, GTA San Andreas, data and search for the *.set file there. Shiva: The savefiles would be in Public Documents only if he had the Windows 98 compatibility mode on.
