As much as the "SPORT ARE TROOP'S" EDL etc brigade disgust me, they do have their right to freedom of speech, and Islamic fundamentalist morons too should have the right to peacefully protest that the video insulted their beliefs.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if these murders lead to some American skinhead killing innocent Muslims (or Sikhs they believe to be Muslims) in retaliation, too.

Considering there was hardly any violence of that sort after 9/11 I wouldn't count on it. There were literally a handful of attacks on Sikhs of all people, and that was it.

There were those recent murders in Wisconsin.

 

I wonder if some of the posters on this thread skipped the part with the pictures of some Muslims protesting in support of the embassy? And also, part of the reason I brought up Saudi Arabia is that I'm pretty sure I read that the mob were incited by a Saudi cleric, and the fact that lots of Islamic terrorism comes from or can be linked to Saudi people.

There is no superior complex to say that the Muslim religion is currently the most violent and backwards one in todays world. Yes Christianity was awful hundreds of years ago however that was hundred years ago. Yes these are extremist and every religion has them but lets compare recent extremist attacks of other religions to those of Muslims, I can guaranty that the sum of all attacks of other religions would be smaller then just Muslims alone. Islam seems to refuse to adopt the modern worlds freedom of speech and individualism. So what if I make fun of your prophet, just be content that I will burn in hell once I die.

 

I live in Leicester which has a huge Asian population consisting of Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs so I know my fair share of Muslims. They are all nice people, one is even a very good friend of mine. However I have also witnessed some awful sights of hatred such as poppy burnings and being told how awful my culture is. I have never seen that in any other religion, ever.

 

The Muslim religion isn't bad, but compared to other religions, it has a huge amount of extremists as well as some awful archaic laws and a view of woman as secondary citizens.

Afghanistan has never seen any real form of government and historically has always been ruled by local tribes, each with their own laws (a bit like US states having different laws, just on a wider scale).

 

The Taliban DID (and still do) ban things, such as girls going to school and TV, etc. They are like the Mafia - an organised criminal network that "protects" people. If you don't follow their rules... you get executed.

Personally I live in Toronto and I have met plently Muslims. My experiences have been good and bad, and when it's a bad one....it's a bad one; shouting matches over the stupidest things, acting racist and then playing the discrimination card so nobody says anything back etc. I had a Muslim cuss me out because I simply stated that my father is Danish when asked what my heritage is a few years after the cartoon incident. Now I just say I'm of Scottish descent when asked by a Muslim what my heritage is since that's what my mother is. Why do I have to censor myself in order to avoid being treated like this? I know not all will react like that but why put myself into the situation of possibly getting that reaction.

 

No one is classing all of them as bad because that isn't true, most of us are talking about the extremists which IMO are the worst of any religion in present day. You can't possibly defend them, can you?

There is no way you can justify flying planes into buildings to kill thousands of innocent people, honour killings, mass shootings, chopping peoples heads off and now this over a freaking movie. Are those not Muslims? So your point of "ever interacted with a Muslim" is invalid. What the hell does that have to do with anything when you can just read many examples in the news of Muslim extremists committing acts like this.

There are extremists in every religion. Go watch the documentary Jesus Camp and come back and tell me that Muslims are the only ones that are crazy enough. Radical Christians are telling their kids they are soldiers of god just like the Muslims are.
