I doubt that street gangs will form the central theme as it did in SA. Though I'd expect them to be involved somewhere along the line. However, that said, I think the modern street gang scene would be a good idea for a DLC episode if Rockstar do choose to go a similar route as EFLC. I hate gangbangers with as much vigour as the next sane person, but I absolutely love San Andreas. That's because of the map, the vehicles, the variety, the huge 100% list, and much more. The reasons why CJ didn't, however, ruin it for me: - CJ felt like a reluctant bystander for most of the gang stuff, talked into it by his dumb brother (at least until he returned to LS in the third act) - The 'Grove st 4ever' stuff make up only a small percentage of the game - CJ was funny. His reactions to car crashes and controller-non-input were the funniest in any GTA, imho Anyway, I think the Walter White perspective (something like it, not actually parodying Breaking Bad) is the way I would like V's story to be, if there's only one protagonist, which I doubt. Somebody who isn't a criminal at all, but goes into a life of crime to provide for his family. Most of us gamers are just boring people with no criminal record to speak of after all, so it would help with immersion, and it's a direction that's new for GTA. As from most of the post on these board the gangs of the 90s have became underestimated. People have not realized that some of these gangs have expanded across the nation and have aligned with different street organizations while adapting. If you know anything about gangs in the later 90s they began to expand towards the east. The Crips, Bloods, Along with the VL, and GD started to expand there base while promoting education and military. They are still around but understood the need to blend in. Kwame Kilpatrick was apart of the a street organization and became Mayor. These gangs have sent people to school to get a education. They have members in the Military they have people that are Lawyers and Politicians. They do work with the cartels they have not vanished they some have adapted. Now they may not be as mainstream as they used to they are around. Along with street organizations. Its not about the old 90s wars its about money now . Legal and Dirty . GTA V should not go for the SA angle, it should focus on the high life in LA instead of the street gangs. And when I said 'everyone else', I was talking about liking San Andreas. Trust me, I don't care for either and both are overdone but if I had a choice just between the two I would rather play the mafia. I am sorry but I just don't find ghetto gangbangers interesting or appealing. I do not care for them and IMO I think most of them are scum. I didn't like the gangbanger aspect in SA. What saved it for me were the gameplay features and the fact that CJ was an alright character. Do some of you actually think that being a "gangsta" is cool? Because acting/talking like an uneducated twat/doing drivebys' and selling drugs etc is so amazing huh? Don't tell me gangs do not do any of this, wtf else do they do? Charity work? Not for me. But to each their own. The only thing missing from this discussion is someone coming in and calling those against playing a "gangsta" racist like so many other times this discussion came up.
