Just because you want to be a "gangsta" doesn't mean everyone else does.

I don't want to be one in this game. We had that in SA. If V does happen to have a plot that involves this then oh well.

We had "Gangsta" in San Andreas, why repeat that, let's see Los Santos from a different point of view.

Gangsta's today are sh*t. In the 90's style, it was great.

Now ''Gangsta's'' are retarded man. I mean, damn dude why do I have gangsta in my nickname. HOW CAN I CHANGE IT? PLEASE CHANGE IT TO SOMETHING ELSE SOMEONE !

Makes me wanna hurt myself everytime I login

Because the original San Andreas already have it, and I want to see San Andreas with another point of view. I don't care if is the old guy or the mexican guy, I want a story away from gang stories. Because I have enough with Saints Row... And because is boring and always is the same bullsh*t

There's a big difference in the first two images you linked. One simply cannot encompass the two and call it "gangsta".

This.

Sick and tired of being a gangsta. I don't care what V will be about, I just don't want it to be about that again.

He's not a real gangsta anymore. Back in the day, he was one of the biggest badasses around. NWA was the most dangerous rapgroup (Dre, Ice Cube and Eazy E.) Yeah that's hard to imagine ay? Dre as a gangsta.

Although I know Rockstar will do it well, I don't like modern day G's. Well, 1992 for LA/Los Santos was when parents went mental over explicit lyrics, gangsta rap was at its peak and still relativly new, if you count Grandmaster Melle Mel and the Furious Five's 'The Message' as the first popular reality rap/gangsta track rapping about poverty and street crime. This all suited Rockstar setting their game (San Andreas) in a city where the world watched as these things took over the world. It made sense.

LA/V is modern day so they will take on modern day themes. World economy crisis. People being made and broken in the modern day world.

If it was set in 1991 or whatever, then yes. I still want to see them but not as the main theme. Unless it was set in the right time line.

Who would you rather be?

A well prepared smart criminal like the ones in the movie 'Heat', or a gangbanger like the ones in the series 'the Wire'?

You can make a new account and then ask a mod to ban your "Gangsta-NL" account.

Real "gangstas" would make NWA piss themselves. Yea even Easy E, who was the most street of them all.

I don't think we'll be seeing much of the '90s crips/bloods style, but I can almost guarentee Mexican gangbangers will play a role

I wouldn't mind the Italian Mafia as to me they are gangsters. Anything else is just kids with guns who think they are hardcore. In other words I don't care for them.

Because "gangsta homies" don't fly jets.

edit: and "gangsta" believe it or not is derived from the word "gangster" which originated from the Italian mobsters that have existed since the 20s or even earlier. Uneducated black's in hoods then idolized Italian mobsters and formed gangs of their own.

I also heard on the radio the explanation of why gangsta homies wear their pants down to their ankles. Where it got started, and this was from an expert on the topic. It originated in prisons. When a gay inmate was ready to take it in the ass, he would wear his pants low to signal other inmates. Think about that one next time one of you wants to show your underwear to the world.

Los Angeles is the single best city for a GTA game. The reasoning I think why GTA:San Andreas felt so great was because of the diversity between the three different cities, the countryside and the desert. They were like five different locations all with its own vibe and associated characters, stories and missions.

This level of diversity one cannot recreate in a single-city location. But, if you think about diversity within one city, Los Angeles is probably the best State-side. It would be a disservice NOT to tell stories of people in those areas of Los Angeles. While I don't think the entire story should have an overarching gang story ala GTA: San Andreas (even those portions only made up a certain percentage in that game), it would be great to get to experience stories and associated missions there with an appropriate character (the helicopter chase scene at end of Trailer #1 was probably a hint at this).

Not really a fair comparison, seeing as the "gangbangers" in The Wire are not gangbangers at all. In comparison to other drug-dealers in different shows, these guys are smart and sophisticated while also being hardened criminals.

Check it:

;

Hardly gangbangers like the OP is describing.

Seriously what can the story have gangsta-wise that hasn't been done in SA.

Because "gangsta homies" don't fly jets.

And Italian mobster do and are pros how?

In fact from the 3 pics that OP posted last one is the most professional. That's why it's best that protagonist have military background, because mercenaries are more skilled in taking life than gangstas and those suit mobsters that are praised on this forum soo much.

I even heard stories that people who are in marines are actually gang members and are using military tactics which they learned in their criminal careers and to train younger gang members, so from all 3 stereotypical suit mobster are the less skilled, there you have it.

They had that in GTA SA, why would you want it again in GTA V? Don't you think there are other sides to LA? Gangstas like crips and bloods should be included in the game, but I really don't think that should be the main theme of the game, simply because we want to explore a new side of LA.

It was done in SA, and it didn't really appeal that much to me back then. I'd hope they'd steer clear of putting 'Gangs' in the main story arc. We've had mobsters and so on all the time, and 'gangsters from the hood' once. Both would, imo, not feel particularly fresh.

I personally hope that when he says "get away from that line of work" he means general stealing, breaking the law and so on - not being heavily involved in a Mafia-family/Gang. That is, assuming he is the main protagonist. I could live with another 'gangbanger' storyline, but it wouldn't feel particularly new to me. I believe R* can do better than recycling old material.
