Helsinki
Hopefully Rockstar will include at least three different forms of rail transport. 1. Local Subway trains (metro) 2. Local trams 3. Trains that traverse the state and leaving Los Santos To have them all connect at Union (Unity) Station would be awesome. Second that. Urban trains are all right, but what I'd really like to see is some all-American, diesel-powered loco pulling a huge freight train through magnificent scenery. Something like in this video of the famous Feather River route:

saintsrow
We HAVE to see some sort of transport system based on the Los Angeles Metro Rail. Sure, it's not as developed as New York (or even Mexico City, those cities catering to HUGE crowds), but it's something that is important to LA nonetheless, and for rural travel, we should see a Union Pacific/Caltrans parody. Yes, I am hoping for simulations of Metrorail and maybe AmTrak Surfliner type trains and routes. Also, a big part of train traffic in So Cal is freight container traffic from the port, and tanker traffic from the refineries. But without other cities and destinations (same problem as with planes), there isn't a whole state to travel to. Nonetheless, I would also like to see trainyards with the ability to build trains of various manifests and send them on their way. Perhaps there could be a train simulator mode for trains which can go off the map, where you can build and schedule them. You could maybe ride on top of them up to the point where they go through a mountain tunnel at the map edge (where you get knocked off), but not drive them. The tunnel could just be a pitch black dead end (like in GTA III and GTA SA) if you try to drive or walk into it. Maybe you can drive the So Cal passenger trains, which could have a closed circuit inside the map like in RDR, or you could make a freight train in the yard that you could drive, as long as the scheduled route stays on the map. I also hope for realistic train wrecks with trains up to 20 cars derailing and smashing together accordian style - with true physics of coupled rectangular solids, pushing and pulling each other off of bridges and down hills, and the massive momentum of train engines and fully-loaded cars. UP9390
Light Rail will appear in GTA V, if you look in the 1st trailer you will see the Cantenary that supplys the electricity to the Light Rail trains. Likely other forms of rail will appear since Los Angeles is a major hub for both passenger and freight traffic, one of the likely Rail lines to be featured in the game would be the GTA version of the BNSF Cajon Subdivision, aka. the Cajon Pass. Im hoping that the trains on GTA V are realistic and match equipment currently used by the Railroads, along with the trains being drivable and appearing on multiplayer as it could be used for many clans and roleplaying groups, for example: A Firefighter roleplay group could use the train for an accident with a car without the need for fire extinguishers or fire. If the trains are drivable, there should be a bell and train horn added to the train and not some cheap knockoff, one of the train horns that could fit this well would be the Nathan Airchime K5LA as it is on alot of locomotives, the Nathan Airchime K3LA, Nathan Airchime K5HL. Another thing that could be done is the Railroad Police, especially if there is Military Trains transporting Humvee's and Tank's.
Helsinki
So, what is this in real life?
Svip
BTW, seven years as a member today!!! Awh, I've only been a member for little over 11 years. Anyway; it would surprise me if the game did not contain trains, especially considering that GTAIV and RDR had laid the groundwork for trains. Since trains work vastly different than cars, it has to be a separate part of the engine. So that screenshot says it all; of course there will be trains. But I am pleased to see it won't just be passenger trains, but also cargo trains. Cargo trains only appeared in RDR during missions, and I don't think they appeared at all in GTA:SA. cody7799
It might not be the full state, but there out-of-city rail in Southern California. Metrolink, a commuter-express type service runs throughout Southern California with primary service to LA and the local surrounding counties. I don't think they appeared at all in GTA:SA. You haven't played much SA have you? The Freight in SA was the first cargo train in GTA. Was fun to play with and stuck its nose out in quite a few missions. Well, I haven't played it in 5-6 years, so my memory might be fussy, or maybe I mistook the streamlined Freight train for passenger trains. Seems a bit weird to put my quote in huge letters, though. cody7799
Sorry, Svip. Running off a cell and had to alter the quote in your post so I didn't do a double. The size code was just there. Anyways watching Unstoppable now. Who wants to do something like 777?
Zero Toler4nce
So there is definitely going to be a mission in the game that involves a couple of trains crashing head first into eachother... And leave it up to crackhead to be walking on top of one of the speeding engines before it crashes lol! Also saw on trailer 2 that there is one train that has an empty stack car, definitely gonna be used to ride on and kill cops...
