Zero Toler4nce
The Brown Streak was an AWESOME addition to SA, let alone the other freight train with flat cars... It was tons of fun to ride on the flat cars and have the cops follow you and shooting away at them and make a 6 star wanted level! Same goes for RDR... Highjacking the train on there and do the same from what I can remember... (Haven't played RDR in god knows how long but I think that was what you could do on there) But anyway... My point here is wouldn't it be fun if they brought trains back? Also, wouldn't it be badass to have them online for freemode? You could have a group of people on a train and have a player drive it and just go crazy! Either that or have a non stop train that travels along a route kinda how the planes and trains do on IV. Let me know what you think!
thebig
I'd love the train back, next to a tram. It would be nice to have fights on it ;p
r0eladn
Im gonna say it before someone else does: "All you had to do was follow the damn train, CJ!" More on topic: I want one of these(preferably in a mission): Driving trains was the ultimate boredom IMO so i dont care much about them. Dont know what of trains it is that is appealing to some. But hey, everyone his or her own crazyness.

Adriaan
Imagine derailing a train with 16 people in it online? Aww the possibilities! They've had troubles in the past with syncing characters on top of moving vehicles in multiplayer in the past. Think of how when, you stand on a boat in GTAIV, you start to "move" backwards. This happened in Red Dead as well, and they said due to technical limitations they won't bring trains to the multiplayer. The guys in MTA:SA (multiplayer mod for San Andreas) managed to sync characters moving on top of moving vehicles, but I guess one needs to understand that they are much more simpler and don't have more advanced physic calculation through Euphoria. I'm sure it would have been a priority to get it more right in GTAV. I always suspect the reasoning for characters to fall off vehicles in GTAIV when you get up on it is because they realized they couldn't get it to work in multiplayer, and because they don't want there to be differentials in single and multiplayer when it comes to stuff like this, they just made the character be all herpderp and fall off. Can you tell me what is so appealing to a train? You cant steer, there is no other traffic where you go, you drive through boring terrain with no people. Why? Maybe i need to work on my imagination. Adriaan
r0eladn if you had any understanding on interests you would know that as humans we all have different interests and some people find one thing more appealing/entertaining than others. If you don't like something, fair enough, no one needs to convince you to like something you don't like. To sort of further explain what I'm trying to say, just take a look at this video:

Have you ever take a scenic drive on an old train, throught the woods and vallerys, it's amazing it's very personal you need to experience it to cherish trains, urban and metropolitan trains aren't the impression of all trains on earth. Why don't you tell people about driving simulators or flight sims as well? When somebody suggests something for GTA V, it doesn't mean they want to play an entire game based around it. Adriaan
Anyway yeah personally I enjoyed trains in those previous games and would like to see it being featured in V as well. The more things you have that makes sense in the world, the more variety in every game session there is. I could play forever in GTA:San Andreas single player whereas with GTAIV single player... not so much, in that it didn't really have as great of a variety in things to do. These things happen sort of organic when you "escape" into that world so it's difficult to say why they will be exciting or interesting. If they get it to work in multiplayer, think of a session in free mode yeah where a bunch is riding on the train, and others come racing up and shooting at ya. I don't know why, but yeah, in San Andreas I remember having moments as well with trains. I was on the tracks in that residential neighborhood in San Andreas and, out of nowhere, a train came when I turned around and hit the sh*t outa me. It's great when games can give you a sudden fright by way of say... a freight train. Someone once said that GTAIV could be considered "virtual tourism". In the same way, a game like Red Dead can be seen as a mini virtual life. When you think back to it, there are these moments and memories that you had when you "escaped" to that world. Similarly, it would be great to discover areas in GTAV's big map for the first time by just sitting back and riding through it with a train (maybe even with a friend over multiplayer, chatting away). Man, I'm starting to sound like a "foamer" like that guy in the video... Edited September 11, 2012 by Adriaan

JoeJoeMcTwist
Trains are awesome - In san andreas I used to love hijacking the train and going really really stupidly fast until it derailed. It had its own thrill to it. As far as cinematics go, I enoyed taking rides on the trains in GTAIV and Red Dead just for the view. I remember riding that train in GTAIV and it reminded me of taking the TTC (Toronto) from Kennedy station to Vic Park. Gave me chills
Adriaan
@JoeJoeMcTwist Oh yeah, completely forgot about that cinematic camera. Should be nice in GTAV.

FranticFatality
Oh, yes, I would love for them to come back, but the ability to drive them might not be added. I wouldn't mind that much, since they were kind of useless and annoying when you drive them. I want to hang in the back of the train and just have an army of cops chase me. Adriaan
With the big military base south of Los Angeles, hows about military trains transporting cargo? I could see that as being a mission to rob some cargo... or think of that scene in a very popular TV show right now (you'd know what I'm talking about if you seen it, so no spoilers). grandola
Yes! Plus we should be able to paint the trains with graffiti. It would be cool seeing a passenger or freight train you painted in Los Santos show up later in a different part of the map.
