look at battlefield 3 and how the sun gets litterally in your eyes now i don't think it will be the same but i do think it will remind me of enb series

I dunno know about you, but the last time I tried looking at the sun, well, the sun got into my eyes...

I hate to break it to you, but unfortunately that's what the sun does... You can't blame R* for getting something right

And also, your poll is F'd up. Obviously you're not the ONLY one who doesn't like the bloom. So I can't technically vote "yes". But if I vote "no", that's saying I agree with you. A double edged sword if you asked me.

i have always HATED enb series for the bloom it has brought in the game and other effects i don't personally think the game need

I disagree with this, it's not just bloom, take a look at these pictures.

Also those pics from Max Payne are different in this situation, I mean the sunlight is clearly blocked there tounge.gif

yeah i looked those pictures are ok as the car itself is clear nothing is covering it no filter nothing

but look at the first icenhancer video that wen't viral thats terribly bloomy

But it changed a lot, in the last version released. No more x20 bloom, to look "more" realistic.

Did you check the other screenshots, or the trailer? because I can't seem to find the excessive bloom in the rest. Also from what it seems, it looks like the screenshot was [obviously] taken at the top of a mountain, so that's quite normal. tounge.gif

it is not about consoles/pc it is just that the sun seems to be covering the wing of the plane and my worry is that the sun will cover the game so you don't see it at certain times it is realistic but not enjoyable

uh, i didn't say it was? I just meant its in 720p, and 720 is sh*t.

Besides who cares, it's a rendition of L.A.

And its sunny a lot in L.A

san andreas did it perfectly though

I still have no f*cking clue what you're complaining about

Are you complaining that the sun is shining too much?

not complaining nitpicking stating my opionion

but yes thats about it i don't want the sun to cover the game

the wing in the plane picture i don't want gameplay to have that effect or the car to be as covered with bloom

Do you understand what nitpicking is? It means you are picking something very minor to complain about.

That screenshot of the plane wing is hardly an issue, TVs aren't bright enough (not even slightly close) to be able to make things like the sun an issue.

I can see the plane wing just fine.

By the way, San Andreas was not perfect, the whole game had an orange tint which was a bit strange and made it difficult to see darker objects.

no san andreas was not perfect but it wasn't bloomy either

and yes as mentiond in the first post it is realistic but i don't want realism tbogt is not realistic it is cartoonish and thats how i liked it in my opinion games don't always have to look realistic

Here's what I'm afraid of. Rockstar and the Housers are trying to merge video games and movies into one medium. So they are taking great pride in adding more cinematic and lens effects to their video games - sun flare, backscatter, motion blur, depth of field. The cinematic treatment of the screenshots is further evidence of this trend.

Actually, I liked these kind of visual effects in RDR - made it look really arty and poignant, and I probably won't mind them in the dynamic world of GTAV. And part of these effects enables the backgrounds to be less detailed and better able to mask aliasing and other effects that would look funny in the distance. Good work, there, I say.

But it portends a deeper flaw, apparently unrecognized by Rockstar and the Housers, that video games and movies are distinct and different mediums and they have different reasons to exist. Following the trend from GTA IV, LA Noire, RDR and Max Payne 3 (basically all the HD games), Rockstar is making better and better machinima that we can watch, possibly at the expense of games that we can play. So far it's not too bad, but it is a worrisome trend.

I do realize that the designers and artists are driven to create realistic looking virtual scenes and environments. That's great! But I urge them to be careful with the game development and story. I already see a trend toward putting too much work into cutscenes, and that ultimately takes away resources from the sandbox game design.

I can agree somewhat. Its like Oblivion and skyrim for me Oblivion is 10x nicer than skyrim.

But i like the graphics on the gtav screens and trailer more then other gta's.

I have respect for you as you are a great but I don't agree with you.

Did you played RED DEAD REDEMPTION? I never played it as I don't have console but I save nearly thousands of videos and I just fell in love with the game. I am 100% sure that graphics will be similar to Red Dead Redemption and I can bet anything, even myself because this is how gaming industry works! This is how games are developed. Yes, there may be some minor changes but those will not intense to get in your nerves.

Just wait and watch, did GTA IV trailer 1 burnt your eyes?

I may be wrong but in my opinion, we need to step forward instead of keeping what is same. Trust me, you will love the graphics.

Here is a RDR shot with some sun flare: http://media.teamxbox.com/games/ss/2187/1241620104.jpg This is a typical example. You see it at sunrise and sunset and sometimes when you are trying to shoot birds flying above you. RDR is beautiful.

The first RDR image you posted http://images.wikia.com/reddeadredemption/...dRedemption.jpg was my PC wallpaper for about 8 months while waiting for RDR. It made me so happy to see it every day. Finally, after 9 months of pain, we got a few GTAV screenshots that are just about worthy of wallpaper, and so I have put them up on my various home and work computers.

No offence but you are in need of http://www.sunglasshut.com/

i don't get it?

Are you stupid? Sunglasses reduce glare...Besides it is just on a monitor/tv they cannot display anything bright enough to really hurt our eyes.

Funny how I thought about something similar the other day. Third person games nowadays have their cameras simulate real world cameras, but nowadays the same happens with some first person games. First person games should simulate the human eye, not camera lenses.

Some of these things though, like the motion blur in that bike race screen, is obviously photoshopped (or applied through in-engine filters). The screenshots released so far are clearly meant to simulate real world photography. The gameplay screenshots, if any, will look different.

It's probably because they have people from photographic and cinematography backgrounds as gameplay capture artists in New York - whereas back in the day it used to be taken by marketing folk.

But it's not about FPS. It's all about TPS!

Yup! Now I agree. Game will look beautiful.

I would like to give an opinion but honestly I don't know what you are nitpicking about. If you're concerned about Lens Flare being in GTAV there will probably be a setting to turn that off.

I particularly like the new lighting, it makes IV look extremely bland. The bloom looks good, it's not done too much. That plane shot is just an extremely sunny day. I'm curious how the lighting changes with the time and weather cycles, should be pretty fantastic or fantastically pretty.

Hopefully the effects will not ruin the game like they did in BF3 with that stupid blue filter, lens flare and bloom... They nailed it with RDR in terms of effects, so they should keep it that way.

IV's graphics are actually quite sh*t, vegetation and people actually look totally awful. Sometimes IV would look really nice at night in the rain, but most of the time it would look horrible (on PS3 anyway)

V's graphics are a major improvement.

BF3 has ridiculous bloom, so much so that on some anti air guns, i can't actually see the cross hairs while aiming to the sky (i would say its my TV settings or something, but no other game has such strong over bearing light from the sun...), really doubt V will suffer from such things though.

Was it horrible in 2008 when the game was new though? It is nearing 5 years old after all.

Back in 2008, i'd say it was fairly good, but not for long, i remember thinking about 6 months after how sh*t IV's graphics had gotten, and i always thought the vegetation was 100% horrific even when IV first came out.

Vegetation should look a lot better. Look at those palm trees in the trailer.

Speaking of the trailer, there's some bloom in the golfing scene: the green of the grass reflects slightly onto the golfer's clothes.

I like lighting effects. It makes the graphics look more "cinematic". I think it's better for a video game to have a more artistic direction visually. It adds to the visual atmosphere, rather than having it look plain.

I've just been playing SA again, and in no way would I want a return to that graphical style or level. If the graphics are anything like in the screenshots GTAV is going to look fantastic.
