(before i start i HATE icenhancer so you should know that before you menion it) anyway

 

ok this is not a bash on graphics per say it is just my own personal opinion and it would be nice to see if anyone agreed with me as you can see in the last pictures rockstar games released bloom or sun has been added this is not something i think was needed i have always loved the rage engines graphics (tbogt) as it dosn't have any effects in the air it just shows the model in a very bright colorful environment

 

i have always HATED enb series for the bloom it has brought in the game and other effects i don't personally think the game need

 

obviously this is just nitpicking and it is not something that remotely stops me from being excited about the game

 

but the last pictures rockstar games released mainly the plane picture seems to be showing bloom/sun that covers the plane itself this to me is a minor problem as it might block the game itself with sun etc

 

look at battlefield 3 and how the sun gets litterally in your eyes now i don't think it will be the same but i do think it will remind me of enb series

 

i likes the old style of gta graphics where things these things didn't exist in the game these new pictures sortof reminds me of enb series

 

like i said this is very extreme nitpicking but i am curious to see if anyone thinks like me it is not something that changes my views on the game or something bad in particulor i just personally would have preferd tbogt graphics enhanced and not something thats different

 

i am ofcourse just saying this about the plane picture the rest of the pictures don't seem to share the same sun effect i for example hope there won't be sun covering 30% of the game even though it would be realistic i still prefer the old tbogt style (from what i have seen in both the trailer and the rest of the pictures that does not seem to be the case) (though i am curious why the plane picture shows the sun that strong but the rest dosn't assuming the sun only will be strong at some locations in the game)

 

i can also say theres something about the infernus picture that also reminds me of enb series the reflection seems abit off

 

as mentiond earlier in this post graphics are not everything and i BET they will be amazing but i personally would have preferd the style tbogt was in where the air dosn't really have any noticable effect

 

this is once again not a bash at the game i am just sharing my personal opinion and what i think i am also curious if anyone else thinks the same

as you can see in this plane picture the sun seems to be covering part of the planes wing itself very little but still something (for those who say brightness etc can be adjusted i know i am not sensitive to this it is just something thats being my opinion and not something i cannot handle)

it looks quite natural as it is comming from the sun itself however some game put a different bloom effect everywhere where everything goes bright

 

now heres to me a bad example of bloom it reminds me of the effect movies and shows use when showing dream sequences

 

 

bloom is ok as long as it comes from one direction but i don't know if i would like the fact of the sun blinding the whole screen when i look into the sun it's just not something i'd like

 

bad bloom is when it covers the entire screen everywhere it blurrs out objects in the game and makes it look like a dream sequence

I know what you mean, but if well done it's an add on, usually it's not well done but even in old GTA like 3 and VC the filters were there and made the difference, the trails on III and the lighting effects on VC, IV overcooked the filters and many of the first wave of games of the latest generation.

in vice city it was good as it wasn't realistic you had to look from one angle to have a beam of light in the screen it wasn't something that was bad or annoying

 

but realistic would be the whole game slightly covered in bloom which means it will look bloomy and models ingame won't be as visible as they are without the bloom

I really have trouble seeing in IV. The glare really screws with me. I hope they fix that.

not sure what it stands for but enb series is a modification by boris vorontsov that started out on san andreas it adds bloom and other effects the game never had icenhancer is a enb series configuration that overlays the game with various effects the game never had to make it more realistic

 

some enb series are good when they don't touch or change the air i like for example the reflection on cars with enb series thats though about it

Well in that screenshot you posted, look at the angle of the sun reflections in the water, as well as the shadows from the tree on the left,

and the trees and bushes on the right bank. The sun is covering the entire wing because there is nothing blocking it from doing so.

And from that angle, the sun was likely setting.

The bloom post processing image effect existed in GTA IV as well. Of course, GTAV clearly has an updated version (look at the bloom coming off of the white shirt in this screen: http://media.gtanet.com/gallery/gta-5-trai...reenshot-15.jpg )

 

Here is GTAIV as an example (notice the bloom coming off of the edges on the police car: http://media.gtanet.com/images/4804-gta-iv-screenshot.jpg )

 

First let's break the effect down, why it actually happens. It's not necessarily the sun (it can be from any bright light source, although in this example it is the sun). Bloom in games is an image filter/effect applied that simulates real world camera lenses whereby light that comes from a bright light source will leak feathered into the surrounding area. If you have an area that is solid, like white, it will appear brighter as the colors leak into itself.

 

In your example, there is a white area on the water, and the leak goes onto the top part of the wing making it look like the bloom on the wing is even brighter (on the bottom part it's not as intensive).

 

Had it not been for that white area on the water, the wing would not appear as bright.

yes that might also be the case that the sun is dynamic and that it only does that at certain locations and not everywhere like mentiond i don't want that effect driving around the city thats bloom overlaying the game something that i don't prefer ofcourse it is nothing thats terrible or horrible just a opinion i bet it's not overdone in that case i can ignore it but i personally would have preferd no bloom

 

now when looking at those trailer pictures i may have forgotten what the trailer looks like oh well it is something i can probably ignore

as for monitor i have a sony gdm fw900 which is famouse for it's color accuracy

 

eflc looks beautiful on this monitor so does vice city and san andreas i don't want the game itself to be under a layer of sun but like i said thats my own personal opinion

yeah i can notice that but playing eflc tbogt personally i can see absolutely no bloom everything is just clear theres nothing covering it up

 

max payne 3 actually did very well i from what i can remember didn't notice any bloom effects i didn't like

max payne did very well here you can see the sun showing but it's not leaking alot over objects just has a strong light from one direction this is something i wouldn't mind actually ofcourse there are sun effects but not bad in my opinion as long as it is not effecting anything near you like the car you are driving

I disagree with this, it's not just bloom, take a look at these pictures.

 

Also those pics from Max Payne are different in this situation, I mean the sunlight is clearly blocked there

yeah i looked those pictures are ok as the car itself is clear nothing is covering it no filter nothing

Do you understand what nitpicking is? It means you are picking something very minor to complain about.

 

That screenshot of the plane wing is hardly an issue, TVs aren't bright enough (not even slightly close) to be able to make things like the sun an issue.

I can see the plane wing just fine.

 

By the way, San Andreas was not perfect, the whole game had an orange tint which was a bit strange and made it difficult to see darker objects.
