bluetops
Random events just like RDR! hehe, those "random" events aren't so random. random events and phone calls should happen with less frequency than in IV and RDR, IMO, to give us some breathing room on the Los Santos map... The answer to replayability is Online Multiplayer! and if you don't like multi-player then you should rethink your lives. something is definitely amiss. In RDR it is your option to do that random mission or not. In IV they were "Strangers". It's different. "Strangers" in IV triggers a cutscene then a mission you must finish. RDR's random events are random. You can just pass them or for the side missions you can do it later. So, yeah. I'm all for Random Events. Also, R* must include a lot of things in V. Just like SA, even they were little to no use at all it's still fun to play with it and adds to the replay value. They can actually throw anything to GTA as long as they keep the magical "GTA feel" in it. Edited September 11, 2012 by bluetops
rere1love
after the story line is done I will complete all side missions and after that this is where the cheat codes come in for me like riot peds have guns etc... causing chaos in the city this will keep me very busy until the next GTA comes out year blank blank..... reform
A lot of the stuff I'd like to see has already been suggested and added to the OP. The vehicle theft side missions are good so long as they're not always the same car in the same place. I'd rather have the vehicle lists as seen in GTA3, so that once you complete each list you can pick up any of the vehicles from that particular list. With regards to "cheats", I'd rather have features which you unlock during the course of the game, and can toggle on or off via a menue. Say, for one of the 100% rewards you unlock invincibility, or for something else you unlock warzone mode where the army are constantly fighting armed civilians and there's generally chaos everywhere. Other ideas might be police won't ever try to bust you and will always try to kill you instead, or turing wanted levels off, flying cars, or submarine cars, or always rainy, or countryside wildlife (bears, wolves, cougars, whatever) in the city, or anyting else you can think of. I'd also like for there to be more uses for cash. Clothes, car repairs/resprays/modification, food/drink, medical bills, bail, guns/ammo, etc should all be costly enough to make money an actual gameplay mechanic, rather than something you can safely ignore. Raynos
mod it untill theres nothing left to mod lol pretty much exactly what I had in mind. Till this day I play GTA IV. All thanks to the mods. GTA has always had a high "replayablilty" factor. IMO.
Banno_benny
Thanks for the input guys! It's nice to see some good ideas, these forums have been rather dull and repetitive lately! I had another crazy idea but it's more a DLC idea than a replay idea - Superheros! Imagine if Rockstar signed with marvel and you unlocked all of The Avengers as playable characters each with their own missions, can you imagine going around the city as the Hulk and smashing sh*t up, or flying around as Iron Man and blowing sh*t up? I know none of that would happen but DAMN it would be fun. Edited September 11, 2012 by Banno_benny
Choco Taco
•treasure maps - red dead style that would show you only a clue Treasure hidden in caves in the mountains... buried in the desert... and in sunken ships off shore where you'd need scuba equipment. I would love that.
thebig
First of all I play the storyline. When I'm not feeling like playing a mission, I'll just walk through the city and destroy things. When I'm done with that, I play for 100% and the achievements and after that just random side missions. That should take some time, but it's always nice if there are a lot of things to do in the game. But if the map is big and there are a lot of secret places and jokes to search, that would be more than enough for me. I've may have posted this somewhere else, but I'd like to see coast guard as a side mission. Looks nice to enter ships and search them. I know people have different opinions and ideas of fun, which is why you expressed your idea of fun and I strongly disagreed with it - just like you said, people have different opinions. I expressed mine, but for some reason you are upset that I have done so. Not to mention insult me too. I'm sorry you feel upset by my comment, but that is really the way I felt. Marvel f**king superheroes in GTA, seriously ?? It might be fun, but it won't be GTA and to me, that is what matters. If it's supposed to be GTA, but it don't feel like GTA, then I'm sorry to say, it's bullsh*t. No disrespect intended, I'm just telling it as I see it. Algonquin Assassin
What San Andreas had, side missions and a great city to walk around unlike Liberty City (IV) None of the cities in SA are as interesting as LC IMO. Durden
I can (and will) literally fly around San Andreas for hours of real-life time. You don't understand how much I enjoy flying planes in video games, let alone my favourite game ever GTAV. Flying a plane is GTAV to me, gives me the satisfaction that some people get when they crash into the wilderness and try to find their way back to the city. JoeJoeMcTwist
What I have found with past GTA games starting with the III era is that after I finish the story I feel somewhat lost. There may be 50 different side missions to do but I don't really want to do them after I've beaten the main story. After the story's over I feel there's no more sense of progression. I could still be upgrading my guns and such but to what end? It all becomes superficial. I won't be able to use my newly attained skills on any story missions, which I find to the backbone of the game. whats the point after all is said and done? I remedy this by not playing the story too quickly and really enjoying everything about the game ie. side missions, just general exploring of the game world. I don't understand how some people can just plow through the story just to reach the end and then wonder what is there to do. Back in the GTA I - II days the story was basically; pick a gang, rank up with them and do their story. Something like that would be a cool addition at the end of the game. After the story was done. You can choose to work for one of three gangs and do missions for them against the other two. This would be kind of like an epilogue separate from the story. It would give you reason to keep playing after the story was done. I liked the fact that you could choose your destiny in the classic GTAs

sddales
Part of the reason I know at I tend to progress through GTA is to unlock the other parts of the map. thatstupidbug
why don't put something like a "trainer" after you beat the game (or after you reach 100% completition)? something that can teleport you around the city, change game settings (weather, traffic, police), spawn different game object and peds, or play with the physic or in-game character. Trainers are already used by PC gamers, but i'm talking about something official that can let you play not only IN the game, but WITH the game, and totally legit: we will be able to create wathever situation we want (for example, our character vs a lot of cops on a tall buildings)

I like the transport and bury mission... it would be funny to have to actually dig the grave, or at least start digging for 10-20 seconds before a cut scene takes over. The car thefts look like they'll get interesting too with that one screen released of the character climbing around on a car hauler. I imagine us steeling cars straight off of the trailer as it trucks down the highway.

RussianFreak
For some reason I'm one of the minority of peolple for whom GTA IV has a nice amount of replay value. I played through it two times and made it to 100% once before I got mods and who knows how many times I've replayed the story after that. I'll probably go for the 100% first and then go back and make different choices in the story if there are some.

saintsrow
Part of the reason I know at I tend to progress through GTA is to unlock the other parts of the map. The second portion of the map is always where things get very interesting. Exactly - the locked map drives me to rush through the missions, instead of savoring the game and all its richness and side games and general fun exploration and slowly building up a bit of wealth and power and kharma by just going around exploring and interacting with the world. Furthermore, if the world were not locked, I would spend much more time getting familiar with the world, so that the big missions would have a more familar context rather than rushing like crazy through new parts of the city to accomplish missions, without getting to stop and savor the new areas. In GTA IV, I later figured out that you can get to the whole map in multiplayer, including Bahama Mama's, and so you could use free roam to get to the whole map. I felt a little cheated that I played through the game so fast, just to unlock the damn map. Both the locked map and the mechanism of using missions to get you to drive all over the city were made by Rockstar to motivate and in fact require you to progress throguh the game and through the city. But actually it has the inverse effect in terms of having a sandbox discovery experience. So, since people can reach the whole map in multiplayer free roam anyway, I would rather see a 'bold new direction" where there is less of that compulsion to blast through the missions, and in fact you have to actually play some of the other expected minigames such as wealth accumulation and exploration, just to unlock new series of missions. That would add a lot of sandbox exploration and replay value to the game. Reaching certain levels of wealth and power, some of which could take a long time, would make the play / replay time longer. PacketOverload_x64bit
^Agree with the post above mine. Also, when I'm done, I'm going to use whatever side-missions / community addons / graphics enhancements and mod the living snot out of it. Then create machinima with it. - New hypothetical scenarios + community mods.
