Banno_benny
Recently I purchased Sleeping Dogs, and I had it complete in less than a week (Including all the hidden items, purchasing all cars and clothing and even getting all the achievements for the game) I also remember than when I completed GTA IV that it was pretty much over. Collecting the pigeons really wasn't that appealing to me because you really didn't unlock anything for it) My question is, what will/should Rockstar do to make the game fun for a long time after the story has been complete? Here's a few ideas, pitch your own and feel free to discuss. Mission replay option - the ability to replay any and all missions in the game. Side missions - Missions like the taxi, ambulance, vigilante. They could also add many others with the other vehicles. Snow plough missions if there is snow, harvesting missions etc etc. Hunting - I for one have high hopes for animals being in the game, but Rockstar could go one step further. They could implement a trophy system where you could go out and search for the biggest buck, bear or mountain lion! Fishing - I LOVE fishing, it would be great to be able to fish although I'm not sure how it could be implemented. Races - There weren't really that many races that went on in GTA IV. I was never a big fan of them, but others might be. They could have several different kinds of races also, like air races with planes. Hidden collectables - Like the pigeons, only it would be great if you unlocked certain things for collecting a certain amount. I remember GTA III gave you a weapon at your safehouse for ever 10 hidden packages. Something like that would give me a reason to search for hidden collectables. Treasure maps like in Red Dead Redemption. Hidden easter eggs - Pretty self explanatory, things like bigfoot out in the woods. They could even have a supernatural web page explaining different myths over the map and you could go explore these areas yourself. Activities with friends and mini games - much like the ones from GTA IV, but with many more. Looks like tennis might be a good one. Others include base-jumping, full golf course, scuba diving, yoga, jet skiing. Cheats - so many fun cheats!!! That is one thing that made San Andreas an incredible game and gave it so much replay value. Being able to do mission related things outside of the mission - a few examples would be the burglary missions, jacking the truck in the screenshot is also an example. Is it for a mission only or can you do this outside the missions also? Random events - having random peds come up to you asking for help (someone stole their car or they need a lift somewhere) Good multiplayer - could keep you busy for hours on end if it's your cup of tea. More enterable stores - maybe even be able to rob/hold up stores for some extra cash. Rampage missions - Get that rocket launcher and kill 100 people in 1 minute! I miss those. Drugs - buy/sell drugs, maybe every now and then you get busted by cops and have to evade them. Assassination missions - like in Vice City. Get a phone call telling you about the target, go and take them out. Maybe they could give you several ways of doing this also, hitman style! More money for making it look like an accident. Weapon skill upgrades - much like San Andreas, where if you get your skill high enough you can duel wield. Real estate - Being able to buy houses and maybe even businesses which could give you certain money over time. Fight club - maybe a way to upgrade hand to hand combat with different combos like in San Andreas/Sleeping Dogs Vehicle Import/Export - having to collect various vehicles from around the map. Good way to earn money. A vast map with a lot of exploration - Just explore for fun! Who knows what you might find! Kidnapping - Maybe even hold people for ransom? Being able to crew up - Be cool if they had a co op free roam in your single player save. Co-op campaign - I'd love to be able to play the game through a second time with a friend by my side for the entire ride. Flip off random peds - in different areas to see what different reactions you could get. Random dynamic missions - similar to Random events, but more diverse. Hitch-hikers, broken down cars and even gang war scenes in the wilderness. I'm just hoping it wont be one of those games where you end up doing everything, sit back and say to yourself 'welp, now what?' Feel free to express your opinions and ideas. wwinterj
Good suggestions. Once the main story is over I'll do whatever is needed for 100% that I have left and aim to get all the achievements. I'll try out the online in the process but I don't see that holding my attention for long. I never rush the single player and get distracted with activities or side missions when going through the story. On a side note you get to buy an unlimited amount of ammunition when you 100% GTA IV although that's a rubbish reward for all the hard work needed. Banno_benny
I'll play the multiplayer. I only see myself playing with with friends, and unfortunately a LOT of my friends have lost interest in GTA games since GTA IV was such a dissapointment. Don't get me wrong I loved the game, but it really wasn't as big as it was made out to be.
Banno_benny
I will add any other ideas people have to my original list. Will be interesting to see how many things we can come up with and how much of it will actually be in the game.
Rpg_
I still play GTAIV....roam the city and have fun, it's an open world game, there's fun stuff to do. Use your imagination if you have to and place yourself in the city. If you're playing GTA games to get to 100% and then you stop playing then you're doing it wrong. I don't emphasize on multiplayer too much in GTA games, I prefer single player more.

I play GTA because of the freedom, allowing you to use your imagination, which no other game really offers. When the story is finished, I'll do what I want, not go on a boring, tedious, repetitive hunt for collectables or partake in some quasi-mission types that have nothing that makes missions interesting (story). cherrycola
A branching story arc with even more choices. I've played through GTA IV several times just to make a different choice on a mission and see what happens. RPG-like career choices for the protagonist would be nice too. the nameless
San Andreas was great to get 100% on, it kept you going for hours, it broke up the collectables, having more than IV's 200 pigeons, but because it was 100 tags, 50 photos, oysters and horse shoes, it seemed like less of a chore (the fact that you could take a sea sparrow for the oysters and a jetpack for the horse shoes probably helped). They should build on San An and implement the odd thing from IV. Collectables - not sure what and how many, but photo ops should be back. Vigillante Rampages Weapon skill upgrades Houses to buy Shops to hold up mini games, like cubed but a few more Assassin missions The fight club from Gay Tony Vehicle import/export And many more. theworldfamous
Okay here's my plan for an infinitely replayable GTA. First the basic game structure: -Missions take more of a backseat to side activities, 40% mission 60% activities.. something like that. -Missions don't make you money, except if they really warrant it, like a heist, and only advance the story. Some missions are multi-part and play out over longer periods of time. It's more of a traditional RPG quest/sidequest structure. -If you only play the missions, your character won't change that much. He won't get rich by the end of the story and wont have all the perks, access and knowledge that comes with being a career criminal. The only way to do that is playing the activities. -You don't 'unlock' anything in the game. It's all open and available from the start, you just can't afford it or don't know about it or where the get it. So. The activities. Every criminal pursuit you could think of could be one. Even some legal ones, just for the fun of it, more on that later. For instance, burglary should make a return. Each night you can raid houses and steal objects. These you can sell on the black market, or keep for yourself. You can rob things like electronics, jewellery, money (duh) and even artworks and antiques. But you have to work your way up. You start off small and don't make a lot of money. If you want to sell high value art on the black market, for instance, you need contacts and you don't have them yet. So you're stuck robbing old television sets from people's houses and pawning them. Do enough of this work, however and you'll get better contacts. A guy that can teach you how to crack a safe, Someone you can take along to get more loot and rob bigger places, someone that does buy those high value artworks. The houses you rob range from poor to extremely rich. The rich ones obviously get you more loot, but you'll also run into security systems, guard dogs, safes, private security personel etc. All things you need to learn to deal with, but with higher risk comes higher reward and you can become very rich by just doing burglaries and doing them well. The crowning achievement would be to find and steal a couple of unique items (priceless artworks, jewelry, vintage car) that you can either keep or sell for a huge profit. But that's just burglary. The other ones work a lot like it. You can boost cars and sell them working your way up until you're like Nicholas Cage in Gone in 60 Seconds. There's legal and illegal car market. You can't sell a stolen car legally until you convert it into a legal one at the pay n spray. You can sell it illegally but you'll earn less money. At the pay n spray you can legalize your car and also modify and customize it. Customized cars earn extra profit. Eventually you can of course buy the pay n spray and turn it into your own personal chop shop that earns you a profit and branch out into car dealerships you can buy and operate. Then you'll have people coming to you offering cars they stolen and you can pick out the ones you like and hassle over the price. Drug dealing. Another one.. I guess that one's pretty easy to figure out. You deal drugs and make money and you also deal with the competition and the police. It would be the most involved, profitable and dangerous side activity. It would be cool to add a real drugtrade. You can buy from and sell to other dealers, or take them out and take over. But the more dealers you take out the more visible you become. So the competition will come after you. Drug dealing consists of different activities: import and export, local manufacture, distribution, trade and security. But first you don't know that and you just buy drugs from dealers in the hood and sell it for a tiny profit in more upscale areas. You move up by taking established dealers out and take over their territory, which is when it gets more technical and strategic. The more you take over, the riskier it becomes, but it too works via contacts. You get better contacts and buy cheaper and sell more. Other dealers will start to attack you, police will take note. You can take over the import/export activities in the harbor and at the airport and eventually rule the cities drugtrade. You can also establish drug labs and manufacture designer drugs that make more profit. There's a lot more you can think up. Street racing, hitman are pretty obvious. But given the Los Santos setting, why not shady movie producer where you move up from sleazy porn to vinewood blockbusters. This involves tasks like beating up financiers and actors, running errands to get them food and drugs, actually filming stuff or playing stuntman. Another activity is taxi driver, as a little homage to Roman you can eventually operate a taxi stand and have a strategy minigame where you have to manage taxis to pick up as much customers as possible and deal with mobsters shaking you down. Anyway, you get the idea and I'm not gonna give away too much.. But the point is that the only way in the game to get access to things like new and better safehouses, weapons, cars, etc. is to buy them. If you want an assault rifle.. buy it (arms trade, another side mission). They all have realistic prices, so if you want to operate 8 safehouse at the same time, you better make sure you have the money to buy them. Better safehouses have perks too, like bigger garages to inhouse pay n sprays and car/weapon customisation.
blowtorchrepair
Random events just like RDR! hehe, those "random" events aren't so random. random events and phone calls should happen with less frequency than in IV and RDR, IMO, to give us some breathing room on the Los Santos map... The answer to replayability is Online Multiplayer! and if you don't like multi-player then you should rethink your lives. something is definitely amiss. eclaireN7
I would like to have the old paramedic, firefighter and vigilante missions back, but instead you have to enter the Hospital/Fire Station/Cop Station to start it (and you get a small cutscene of some sort when starting it). 1DrfL
There will be plenty of replay value playing through the game as all five protagonists!
