I was just checking out Youtube and on the recommendations list it had this video, it was about animals/pets in GTA V. It showed the dog we all have seen during the beach scene in the trailer and also later on when we see the dude running from the police. We see the dog there. However for me it wasn't entirely clear if it really was a dog, i mean...you don't even really see it in full form. Check this video out at 2:19, i honestly had not noticed that before...clearly is a dog. Maybe new for ya'll too, cool if so, if not...i can't help that . Let's just assume dogs are still in. It would make alot of sense cause in neighborhoods like those seen in the trailer, there are plenty of dogs in real life. It would also be awesome to see people on the street just walking their dog and what not, it would sure make the gameworld so much more alive. What other animals could work? The video i posted above speaks about a horse in the reflection of the cop car, i certainly don't see it though. But horses could definitely work. I don't know if LA has cops on horses (we sure do here in Holland,lol) but that again would make for a much more believeable gameworld and frankly...also something really new. I there's gonna be dogs, including cats would make sense too. If we look at RDR, it had lots of different animals, all those kinds of animals would be perfect for a zoo in GTA V, damn man..imagine a zoo in GTA V. But we don't know how far Rockstar will go/is going with attention to detail. So...any other suggestions? I really wonder if Rockstar would go so far with it. I mean the dog in RDR, never ever did it attack you, or did it? They really could be just for...how you say....detail. in RDR they were just there for exactly that, detail. Your idea sounds cool though and i'm all for it. A dog companion, hell yeah...but i somehow don't see it happening. Plus that they no doubt would get several problems (not that they let those stop them before,lol) with organisations like PETA, if a dog could be learned to attack enemies, be that human and animal. Yes, but you kill them in CoD and that's it, nothing else. RDR indeed had dogs and wolves, wolves being the ones that really attacked you. But that was RDR, a much more 'uknown' game and much less popular than GTA. PETA would love to get on Rockstar's ass and they WOULD if Rockstar goes 'too far' with keeping things realistic. They know very well that it will get in the media and get blown out of proportion in no time, PETA knows that. Thing is...at the end of the day, that means even more sales for Rockstar though, lol. I'd actually be very surprised if Rockstar puts things like Dog fights in them, not that you can participate, but maybe that you see scenes of it, or NPC letting their dog participate in those acts. In real life they are beyond horrible and i could never ever support it, but this is just a game, ...but it's possible that they put this in, making the game so much more realistic. But personally...i don't believe that's going to happen. In either way, even if it's only gonna be dogs in this game, it's gonna make for an awesome experience. Its going to make that game world so much more believeable and just great. It would also be a first for games in this genre that are set in modern times. Saints Row didn't go there, Sleeping Dogs didn't go there (only chicken fights, which surprised me tbh) so this would be new. Also put them in multiplayer. Let's say you are f*cking around with choppers or jets, or boats..and you fall out/off...into the water. No problem in IV, just swim to shore..but in V you'd have to look out for freaking sharks, that would make it really tense really. But not sure how that would work though..they catch up with you and kill you, so yeah...not much of survival in that. Cows and other farm animals would really complete it yeah. GTA SA didn't have those, it didn't have any animals. sh*t i'd almost forget that IV had flying rats aka pigeons, which clearly are animals, i don't believe Rockstar ever caught any flack from a PETA or whatsoever, right? I really hope Rockstar has gotten comfortable to the idea of having multiple animals. Imagine if you could let wild animals escape from the zoo...and you just standing in a safe spot where they can't get to you, and watch the animals go hunting NPC's...sound crazy? Oh yes, but awesome too. Man the possibilities with this genre really can be endless. Far Cry 3 is doing exactly that, you can free caged animals like tigers and bears and so on, and they attack people on sight. DO IT Rockstar! Squirrels - Quite a few in parks or woods Dogs - Police Dogs, Security and so on. Cats - Yep we have lots around where I live. Fish - In the Sea, lakes, ponds Frogs - Ponds, Lakes Bats - Oh I would love to see bats at night! Birds - We have seen pigeons but what about other birds like sparrows, Golden Eagle and Hawks. Not that I have anything against animals (well, a little, but I wouldn't hurt one in real life), but it's just something new to run over, which will be really fun. I'm hoping for horses, deer, bears, mountain lions, rabbits, cows, and maybe cats too. I really hope trailer two expands a little more on the animal situation. EDIT: A lot of people here are giving some great ideas for animals . I'm really looking foward to seeing what R* does. Dude, some really great ones here Imagine walking through the woods at night for a mission or just when you are exploring, it's all dark and almost creepy, combined with owl sounds...that sh*t would be awesome, it's really the little things that count in games like these IMO. Alot of the animals that you mentioned were around in RDR too and most of them would perfectly fit for GTA V. If Rockstar goes all out and really gets everything out of the consoles, the gameworld is gonna be nuts. Imagine the zoo and seeing all kinds of different animals behaving realistic and what not. Who knows what Rockstar meant with a bold new direction in open world gaming and so on....it could mean big changes and features we've never seen before. Maybe it's me that is going all out and expecting things that simply can't be expected of 6-7 year old consoles. @Zirvlok Yes i hope this as well. If we'll first get more screenshots, i hope to see some animals in there too. Aside from the trailer we haven't seen any other animals yet. If they don't put them in..ah man, it would be a big missed opportunity, i'd almost say wasted potential. Well I think this pretty concludes that Animals are confirmed nonetheless, and the "original" dog that everyone noticed at beach is not some kind of "TV Ad in Game." These guys that notice those things..they got like..what...super eyes or something? Holy crap man. Same with the analysis on the screenshots released so far, GTA5videos channel has some very interesting stuff, things that i absolutely never saw before. But the dog is the biggest thing. So f*cking awesome. Out of the blue. And it shows how realtime everything is. When you think about those amazing moments in RDR....V can only be goddamn incredible.
