What he's describing is nothing like EFLC. EFLC were two shorter stories added onto the main one, what he is describing is two different versions of the game, each with a full length story and different protag, but a lot of common features (possibly the same overarching storyline or something) and you would buy whichever version you preferred first, much like with pokemon.

It's a brilliant idea, can you imagine how much money Rockstar would make from selling two different versions of the same game? Loads of people bought both Pokemon Blue and Pokemon Red back in the day, gotta catch 'em all, right, and how do you do that with only one game? How many people on here are completist enough to buy both games, certainly I am.

It's a brilliant idea, can you imagine how much money Rockstar would make from selling two different versions of the same game? Loads of people bought both Pokemon Blue and Pokemon Red back in the day, gotta catch 'em all, right, and how do you do that with only one game? How many people on here are completist enough to buy both games, certainly I am.

Can you imagine the unnecessary controversy this would cause.I would like to play as a variety of different characters in the upcoming GTA.But does producing two different copies of a game that will be based on the protagonists ethnicity just seemsa bit far fetched imo.

I would be surprised if the kids on this forum even made 15 percent of the games sales.

I'm kidding, but to answer your question, I'd play as the black/Hispanic guy because I, myself, am black/Hispanic. I'd be equally excited for both, though.

I'd play the White edition first cause I'm white - then I'd think about the Black edition. But really it would depend on the story, If the Spanish dude was a badass 1%er like Johnny from TLAD then I'd have to go with the black edition.

As per OP, Ned Luke's version first, last GTA I played was with a young Hispanic. Not in a hurry to revisit that just yet.

I think one story would be mob related, the other would be rescuing your dumb-ass drug dealing friends out of trouble all the time.

My only problem about the multiple protag theory is how would you change your character in free roam?

I actually think this is quite similar to what will happen - but not on seperate games. You will have the option to choose your character at the beginning and each will play out a different storyline based on different aspects/cultures of LA. The storylines will intertwine and merge togther at various points.

 

I think that would be a good way of 'dividing' the map'. Rather than physical restrictions, each character is based in different places, and therefore you get a different experience/viewpoint of the same city and in game events.

My only problem about the multiple protag theory is how would you change your character in free roam?

Return to your safehouse and choose from a tabbed map that shows the missions available for each protagonist.

 

The main problem with multiple protagonists you can switch between is that I think it would feel awkward for your "sleeping" protagonists to wake up and appear as NPCs while you're playing another. EFLC shows what the other protagonists do during the story but you maintain control of one protagonist through each of three games.
