Dr-Mayhem111
Welcome to Poem of the week #2 where people of the GTAForums Community can show off their creative poetry writing. POTW #1 Title: Being rehabilitated Here are the top results from POTW #1: Mokrie Dela 1st:6 2nd:2 3rd:0 8 * kmlwin.1996 1st:0 2nd:6 3rd:2 8 * cammi 1st:0 2nd:0 3rd:6 6 * Coat 1st:3 2nd:1 3rd:1 5 Winning poem: Cold turkey, cold shoulder I feel my skin growing colder No worries, they told her, Rehab; rebuilder. Cold grey walls and shadows of wolves, They lurk beyond, teasing all night long Darkness falls and the hunger pulls, But there is no relief, the wolves bare their teeth Night time weighs Heavy on me, The creatures of the night All mocking in their presence. Dawn grows nigh, To my anguished pleas, At the first glimmer or light Comes my fear's evanescence. Relief and release, the sun kisses me again You're cured, that's the slur they say Reintegration, I return to my shame Knowing that I shall be back here someday Congratulations to the top 3 your poem were amazing and I hope to see more. Next title is: The greatest day of your life Deadline for entry is Monday, September 17th 2012
AceRay
Uh, shouldn't the winning table go to whoever got the most golds, then silver and then bronze. Cammi got 6 bronze and is in third while Coat has 3 gold and 1 silver, shouldn't he be second or third? Just adding up the totals doesn't really work, if someone had heaps of bronze medals they end up winning the whole thing.

Mokrie Dela and kmlwin.1996 have the same amount of votes but Mokrie Dela was voted 1st more than everybody else which puts him on first rank (Gold star). As for kmlwin.1996 he did not get any 1st votes but he got more 2nd votes than everybody else which puts him on second rank (Silver star). And it goes on like that. Yeah, I don't think you understand how this sort of voting should work. The person who gets "the most silver medals" doesn't come second. That's ridiculous. First off, it needs to be defined up front what any given vote is worth. Gold should be worth a set amount of points; silver another, bronze another. It could be 3, 2 and 1, respectively. Or, to give higher emphasis to winning a gold, it could be 5, 3, 1. Or Maybe 4, 2, 1. See how there's so many permutations of it? Every one of them will give different results. The bottom line is that coming 1st should get you more points than coming 3rd. The entire idea that someone who gets ranked 1st by three people doesn't even place against two people who didn't come first on anyone's list is laughable. If you went with 3, 2 and 1 points respectively, then the standings would be: Mokrie: 22 kmlwin.1996: 14 Coat.: 12 cammi: 6 If you went with 4, 2, 1 it would be: Mokrie: 28 Coat.: 15 kmlwin.1996: 14 cammi: 6 Now, coming up with such a calculation for every round makes it kind of complex. Who decided to do a 1st/2nd/3rd style anyway? SSOTM always just used to be vote for the best; the one with the most wins. Infinitely more simple. Infinitely more ridiculous, though, is just tallying up overall medals. 3rd place should not bear the same weight as 1st place. Rant over. This competition is a bit of a joke. Very true. *** The tarmac laid fresh The weeds pulled deep From the eerie below The rotors waved as a go the fourteen men made their way with their heads laying low and their hearts on their sleeve Crickets stopped chirping Predators stopped lurking and the plane was indeed working Airborne with height Wind took the lift The ground turned blue Below seemed fray Irrelevant Seemed the day was irrelevant Never expecting to return, Nor hoping for long life, It didn't matter if it was a good day As bad Because their lives were already over and the best of them got older Leaning on each others shoulder Watching the sun die down and the fields grow darker Further As the last of us glimpsed at the best of our lives.
